Recently put myself through one of the most challenging experiences of my life…
Running a 50k Ultra race.
It was strenuous, it was tough.
But man, it was WORTH it.
As entrepreneurs, we all face hardships.
Whether in our professional or personal lives.
The road can be rough.
Full of unexpected twists, turns, and steep hills, much like my 50k journey.
But it’s these challenges that *shape us*.
That’s why once a year I choose something that's hard.
That will shape me...That I’ve got to train hard for…That I’ve got to sacrifice for.
To pay the dues to be able to live the life I get to live.
And what I’ve found over my 25 years as an entrepreneur is that…
*Everything I have in life comes from the hard things I’ve done.*
So how do you do more hard things?
What’s the attitude and philosophy that you need to have to do hard things so that you can live your dream life?
I cover that and other insights I gained from this 50k Ultra race in this video.

If the feet don't work, everything above them will struggle and hurt. Keeping your feet functioning is absolutely crucial to a successful ultra. I learned the hard way twice in September (33 miler and a 50 miler two weeks apart). Nice work!

Love it man! And I love the example you're setting for your kids. I can only imagine the emotions that would have bubbled up when seeing Renee and the kids... especially after being physically drained. Kudos to you for sticking to what you said you would do 👍

This may sound odd, but out of all your content I've consumed ( which is awesome), this had the most impact on me. We were actually looking for you during the race. Nothing but respect and yes, we are all capable of hard things. What's next year's Misogi?

I’ve run 7 ultras… 4x 50’s, an 80k, 100k, DNF’d a 100 mile… and those are just the races I’ve run, never mind long-run training days. Despite the physical demands on the body (aches, pains, etc) the number one priority is to stay injury free - and no unnecessary risks like smoke damage to your lungs 😉. Good call on no-showing the other race and doing your own. Doing hard things teaches us we can do more hard things. Much respect.
