Today I went on a solo adventure to a village in Zambia, and I ended up at a funeral. Here is the story that I documented along the way. What a wild experience it was!

Funerals are actually quite colourful and eventful in Zambia. The whole ceremony lasts for three whole days. People spend two nights (usually-sometimes more) at the residence of the deceased or the hosting relative. There is a lot of booz and prayer during those two nights. On the final day which was what you experienced the body is taken from the morgue, taken through the church and finally to the burial site. Rarely is a body taken back to the house. But it does happen on occasion. Just a summary. Enjoy your travels. Truly Zambian 🇿🇲

Malilo in my language means "crying" or "tears". In our culture, we call funeral "Mariga" Which means "Tears". Am from Western Kenya, from the Abaluhya Community (Second Largest tribe of Kenya) , which is Bantu. Hello to our Bantu brothers and sisters of Zambia

I grew up in Livingstone and now live in Kalomo, the next town from it. I went to school with the owners of Mukuni village, the sons to Chief Mukuni and we are friends till now. Sad it's a funeral clip but great to see my country while living away in America. 1 love Drew Binsky.
