I'd blame their reaction on the fact that you were in a dark blue city in a dark red state, but I also think that your routine was a little bit flatter than the others I have seen, which I love. We in America are in an election year and angry this year, so it's gonna take the best jokes to get a response, probably non-political jokes because we are saturated with politics. I'd be interested in seeing how they respond to one of your absurd pieces about abortion. Texas is very anti-abortion, but not Houston. Tough crowd man! Houston is a blue city. I'll give you just a small piece of advice for performing before US audiences... I think if you can, learn to use more contractions in your speech. You learned very proper English and I think for the Euro crowd it sounds normal but Americans use way more contractions in relaxed speech as compared to people who learned formal English. I.E. instead of "cannot" use "can't", or "won't" instead of "will not". It's a small thing, but it will make you more relatable by being more informal and sound a bit less canned. And if you hear southerners talk, we actually talk slower with a drawl (which linguistic anthropologists actually suggest is a vestigial leftover from our British accent lol) than most. So if you are in the south, consciously slow down just a beat when you have time in the set and can afford it. The accent + talking fast can cause us to lose you just a bit. That said, I want you to be successful and I hope you keep working! Much love from the US!

Yea, those are not comedians but it’s wild, they are called comedians as though it has been proven. They have never made someone else laugh other than laughing at them. They talk about made up trauma and how it’s so hard and the patriarchy is always getting them down and on and on, moan moan moan. Hannah gatsby is not funny, and I think that has a lot to do with saying she’s a comedian when she simply is not.

I’ve lived in Fort Worth my whole life. We definitely would’ve been a great crowd.

I would also like to add, that much of the population in Houston are liberals from out of state who came to Texas looking for economic opportunity, but have not reformed the way they vote or think to match local customs.
