In 2015 I got into one that was a taxi really comfy car I asked the driver about it as I'm a car guy and he said it was pretty reliable and he had it from new it had something like 300 k on and still going strong

@@jamieeedden777 yes,I would say although if you are to do any towing I would recommend the v6..plenty of torque...unless of course it was never offered in the models in your country..I am in Canada

@@Pusahispidasaimensis I think the reason behind the Honda Accord coupes was to compete with the likes of GM & Ford who had personal coupes like the Buick Grand National & Ford Thunderbird . I think the Accord really started to steal sales from the American Auto Makers with the release of the 1989 CB7 Accord. Toyota joined in later on with the "Camry coupe" which they later changed the name to Toyota Solara.

Hi, I'm slightly behind you on 350k km, 220k miles. 2006 CRV. Just went through NCT yesterday (Irish MOT) and everything bang on, except for the lights. Tremendous engine. I've had numerous high mile HDis but this is on another level of sweet.

@@Anrirua also, would you recommend CRV from 2008 to 2012 with diesel or petrol? Sometimes thinking about SUV just because of higher sitting position... Don't know what else to look for...

@@MarijusSiegel Hi, the 2008-2012 with the petrol is ultra reliable. The i-dtec is a better towing engine but the i-ctdi in the earlier years has less issues with NO DPF etc. I'm also thinking about getting one. They are probably the best of all of the CRVs off road too. Very capable with the right tyres and driver. Ergonomically far better than the rd9 (2005-2006). I love the improved road view from a CR-V. It's still perfectly assured and car-like but has enough 4x4-like features to satisfy most users. A CR-V is the perfect all rounder for daily driving, snow, car parks, elderly relatives, offroad (it is more capable than most drivers have guts for) and of course for towing. Best of luck, hope you do. I think they're great fun and very useful vehicles. Ultra reliable and does most things quite well.

I was looking also for a model like RX400H (can't divorce a Japanese really...) but at the same time I know its a bit diffferent class so its kind of not the right model to compare to CRV. I guess I'm gonna stick to Civic for a bit annd then try to find the best CRV at the time. Thank u once again for opinion about CRV. Cheers.

Hey Matthew,I'm a 72 year old.Aged 17, I had no time for these little cars I went big time I bought a Ford V8 Pilot a proper American gangster looking car,I paid the princely sum of £12,10s for it.When I was forced to scrap it one year later it turned out that the most valuable items on the the car were the 18" tyres,the same diameter as a dart board.I cut them in half and sold all 8 items for £10 so a full years motoring cost me £2 10s,not bad eh.

The Euro had a 2.4 litre engine and a bit more squirt than this one.

In North America they were sold under the Acura TSX nameplate with a 2.4L engine. Of course the steering wheel is on the other side also.

The euro in New Zealand had the 3.2 engine!

Yes, K20 I VTEC - same engine as the EP3 in lesser state of tune with timing chain.

@@19800bon It looks as though the indie garage is using timing belt section just as a regular service stamp area, because they ran out of space in the book. It is a chain and should last the life of the engine.

yes here in States too I believe but some guys prefer the K20 and you can mod it for more power

@Brian Smith I agree, one of the best four pot engines ever produced. All Honda petrol motors are great but the K20 was arguably one of the very best Honda four cylinder petrol motors they made.

I once took a 96 odyssey in part exchange. It was a Japanese import. I ran it all over Christmas. It was a really nice thing. With the seats flat I moved furniture with it too

@@paulsz6194 it's our third one. Never had any issues with any of them. We've been all over western North America with them. On and off road towing a 15 ft. off road camper.

@@saddoncarrs6963 That's correct. We don't get much snow here. Temperate climate. When we do they spray the roads with a brine mixture. The average yearly mileage for cars here is about 12,000 kms / 7200 miles.

A bit bland or screaming boy Racer. Not sure which is worse Corsa VXR or Civic type R. I like the accord styling but civic is just horrendous. As about Jazz I rather drive VW Up in bright pink colour...

Want a hatchback for that really, even better a big estate….

My current is my 6th :) Never had a bad one. Had a few other cars around the Hondas, but always come back to em haha.

@@katzicael I previously owned a first gen Dacia Logan for 9 years and it never missed a beat. I passed it to my bother after I got the Civic and although it's already 16 years old it's still going strong. The Civic, so far, proves to be just as reliable. I love it!

I,v had my civic type s-gt 5 years and it has never let me down, it's done 116,000 mls and I,v only done 9,000 in that 5 years 😂. Service them regularly and they will serve you well👍

Thats literally barely run in. I have same car same age with 149,700 miles and the engine is as sweet as a nut. I bought it 2 years ago as a second car and it's brilliant. Only problem was when I first bought it, the battery would give completely flat in 2 or 3 days. Turned out road be a parasitic drain by the Bluetooth module...a very common issue with these cars. A very quick and easy fix just to disconnect it and problem solved...obviously can't use my phone hands free but not the end of the world. It feels as if it will go on forever!

@@pielight7449 That baterry drain issue is pretty common on this generation, indeed. Actually there are lots of small niggles with this generation of Civic but nothing major really. Simple electronics and a N/A petrol engine is what I really wanted to be honest and that's exactly what I got.

I bought a 2000 VW Passat for 20,000 quid and within 5 years it had depreciated to 2000.

I've got a 10th gen civic and although everyone seems to pan it's looks (especially the type r), I find it interesting, aggressive and very Japanese. The rear is a bit of a mess I agree, but no one can say it's boring. And also it's drives fantastically well imo.

@@richiebtime489 I’m not calling its engineering or its driveability, it’s just that I feel that for a short time Honda actually followed the dictum that less is more where body styling was concerned. As a matter of fact, I think the Accord which preceded this one was actually the zenith of Japanese styling, it truly looked as though it was the product of a first class European design studio. Somehow, they seem to have lost that magic touch and nowadays there’s little to choose between their offerings and the insane appearance of much of Toyota’s and Nissan’s mobile carbuncles. Take heart though, at least your Civic isn’t a Juke!!!!

I did put a little comment up about my dad having a 2003 Accord Tourer 2.4 with sports trim in grey with the 5-spoke anthracite alloys (I don't remember it being a type-S ?)....very handsome car, although the rear overhang was slightly too much imo. And I did nearly buy an S2000 but the insurance was ridiculous at the time, being a higher risk group 20 out of 20 groups. Incredible engine, you have to admire a mainstream manufacturer that makes and engine with titanium Conrods and forged crank iirc. My 1 litre civic does 50mpg on my commute and doesn't rattle like a diesel. Extremely tidy handling with such a diddy motor up front. And no, it's not a pigsty of a juke!

@@richiebtime489 As I said, I’ve no problem with Honda’s engineering or, indeed, their build quality. Just so you know where I’m coming from, my car is a 1980 Citroen CX. It attracts huge interest with the most popular comment being “is it one of those which goes up and down” closely followed by either “that’s beautiful” or “that’s got to be the ugliest car I’ve ever seen”. I really believe that back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s Honda looked towards the older Citroen’s for a little stylistic inspiration, culminating in a real junior version of the CX, the first generation Insight hybrid. When I first saw one I thought Citroen had launched a new small car without any warning whatsoever. I will say this though, if only Honda had built the CX many of my build quality issues would never exist and life might be a little easier.

@@malcolmherbert5127 Ah yes a CX, I do love the shape of that car and it's "avante Gard" look if I've got that saying right, as the journalists would say. I'd imagine it gets the attention and totally understand what you mean with that insight. It had the rear arches covered also if I'm right. Shame Honda didn't tie up with Citroen like they did with rover! Keep hold of your car, I also loved the bx and Citroen xm, the xm especially as it looked so classy and the V6 version just be a superbly comfortable and individualistic car. I'd love to see a little base spec AX now, would seem so incredibly dainty and minimalistic! Fantastic!

I had the same spec and mileage and the exact same experience. Eventually replaced it with a Toyota Avensis estate which has been pretty good but not as solid as the Honda.

The 2.4 is a lot better, I had one for many years.

I think these were also sold in the US as the third generation Acura TL with the 3.5 V6.

Oh I forgot to mention, these gearboxes never break if you drive it normally so I wondered what happened!! The clutch master has a delay valve that can be removed. I hope to do that soon on mine.

BS. Mileage matters in any vehicle. You say that you have a 30yo and a 20 yo. That's age, not mileage.

Got the Type S as well. Didn't know about the suspension part but then again I have not yet inspected it much. Just changed all the fluids and I now have to search for major exhaust parts needing a replacement . But engine wise, I can't agree with anyone saying it's boring. It being a K24 engine really shows it at lower revs. I have winter and snowy roads in my country at the moment. Makes you really want to fool around and K24 provides. Nearly ended up in a snow pile, the first day I bought it. It is rev happy from the very beginning and gives you just a second until it goes "only 4000 rpm, rly m8"? (studded winter tires had none of it that evening). If you're into tuning, definitely consider Honda. They have manufactured the most amount of engines out of all companies ever, that solely ups the odds of them knowing what they're doing. Plus some tuners swear by the K20/K24 engines. Can't blame them considering first "tune-ups" start at changing engine redline to 7k and lowering vtec kick-in rpm threshold. That shows engine reliability. You wouldn't want to tune an engine this way and break it down after you just installed a new differential.
