I also love that he is not one of those douchbags that says things like... "While this car is slow by todays standards...". Or... "This isn't very fast...". He is like "No, this is still damn fast. Maybe not as fast as some of the crazier shit that's out today, but it is exhilarating to drive." And he is right, those are still powerful cars.

One of the best looking 90’s cars ever, imo. T-Tops are the best compromise to a open car experience. Nothing else looked like it. Plus, the Lamborghini Diablo used Nissan 300zx headlights. So… yeah. Awesome purchase man! So excited for future videos!

The 300ZX is my favorite ever car. I've had 2 and want to get another one but I'm afraid of it going up in value and it getting away from me financially. The first one was an NA and I flew down to Miami and drove it back to Chicago. It was a dream. The second was a TT and I was lucky to find it close to home. Now I'm excited for the next TT Z in 2022.

I owned a 300ZX Twin Turbo when it first came out; it remains to this day my favorite car that I've owned. White, red leather, manual, auto climate control, with the wheels painted Miami Vice White to match the car. (It replaced a 2nd Gen RX-7 Turbo II, which was fun, but harsh). The Z was very fast, smooth, great handling, and amazing presence. It was what the Corvette of the day tried to be. I'm so glad that you've got one to enjoy, Todd... and I'm more than a little bit jealous.

The 90-96 Nissan 300ZX is one of the greatest sports cars of all time. Read reviews from the era and it was almost always highly praised, even over its main rivals at the time. A world-class effort from Nissan at the time and still holds up today. Very excited to see the content about this car. Cue the Van Halen song!

Congrats on the Z. Timeless design. You’ve got all the great options. I’m in California and this car would have sold for $5000-$8000 more. In 1993 I tried so hard to work out a deal on this car but no dealer would budge. I remember it as the one of the fastest cars I had driven for that era. Because of the lack of a 6 speed, I ended up getting a Corvette but I should have stayed true to my heart and gotten the Z. It’s a diamond….

What a great video! You sure brought back some great memories for me with this vid today! I graduated H.S. in 1991, and while in my first 2 years of university I worked at my local Nissan dealer (my folks had a 1991 Maxima they had bought there), and I ended up buying this same exact car, a 1991 300zx TT in red. Identical. It was probably one of my favorite cars, I did the pacific coast highway 3 times from Canada to Chula Vista in it. I ended up selling it and downgrading to a 91 240sx LE - sad face is sad. I've had many Nissans since then, 2 GTRs now, and I'll be getting a 400 for sure. I've had a ton of fast/sports cars over the years, but none give me fonder memories than my first, my 91 300zx.

In 1992 I started my freshman year at a small university in my hometown of Antigonish Nova Scotia Canada! Antigonish was about as far away from sports cars as just about anywhere, so when a student from the big city of Toronto pulled up to the library in a bright yellow 300zx twin turbo it was like a shot of lightning. I was instantly in love! That set me on a 30 year love affair with a car that I have never even driven, let alone owned. I have vowed to own one someday but with kids and life in general the time has never been right. This video is exactly what I needed to see, someone falling in love with their car crush all over again. Beautifully shot, and presented. Extremely well done!

I purchased an '87 Corvette about 5 years ago from the original 90+ year old owner with 39K on the clock. Drove it home from Ohio to Texas. Love the excitement! After not owning a fun car for 15 or more years, this past February I purchased a silver 2010 Camaro SS manual with 41k miles for $17, 250. I drive it everyday it doesn't rain and it never gets old. Still catch my self looking at it out of the window at home. The car came with lowering springs and a cold air intake. Within the first two months of owning it, I added a MBRP axle back exhaust. It sounds so amazing. I am never getting rid of it. I thought I was a little crazy when I bought it at first but so glad I did. I actually had a practical reason for buying it as I was commuting at the time and was looking for a fun and cheap commuter. It does not feel cheap to me. Feels like a car I will own and love for a very long time. I have so much fun every time I go for a drive. I was never even a Chevy guy but this was the right deal at the right time and turned out so perfect!

“Discover the car on the way home” I was terrified of that until I did it with my first 911. Very cool car. Friends of mine had these. I prefer the 928, though🙂

The 300ZX won so many accolades during its production. I’m sure you could look up specifics, but I remember it being on Car and Driver’s Top 10 list maybe every single year it was sold in North America. They always praised the ergonomics and said it had the most ergonomic interior of all JDM sports cars and overall excelled in that regard.

The way you described driving the car back is exactly the way I felt when I picked up my M3 and drove it back from UT to NC. Loving it within the first few minutes of driving and struggling to believe it was mine.

Congrats! I had a 93 300ZX Sapphire Blue Metallic, 5-speed, leather. It was my dream car in college and was my motivation for a long time - to get my degree I mean! After I graduated, life got in the way (student loans, saved up for a home, etc.) but I finally bought one in 2006. I had mine from 2006 (40k miles) to 2012 (46k miles), I sold it to a buddy of mine and I replaced it with a C6 Corvette which (this is gonna sound crazy) but I bought the Corvette as an update homage to the Z32. Dedicated sports coupe, no back seat, hatch back, removable top (glass top for the Z32 open air vibe), manual transmission, driver focused cockpit, nice big gauges and on and on. I loved mine and I still miss it sometimes, always wish I had the garage space for 4 cars instead of just 3. Cheers and congrats again on the gorgeous Z32!

I had one of these 20 years ago (1990 twin turbo automatic) so it’s facinating to get a new perspective as I’m probably never getting one ever again . Oh well it’s great to live vicariously through you guys.

Another masterpiece. Great cars. A friend had the 300 ZX non-turbo version and it was so fun to head out and enjoy. We shared a day long road trip together after losing our jobs to layoffs and it was amazing how it lifted our spirits. Great memories. Thank!

I love this long term challenge for you guys so much, especially with how enthusiastic you both are about your origin cars. Todd, your smile around 7:20 just speaks for the whole video. Also, glad to see Todd on brand yet again buying a car with an aftermarket exhaust. Hopefully this one is actually good; it sounds nice in the video.

Great car I had one before, a 1990 Z32 TT in white (it was an automatic). The problem is that maintenance is very expensive and very few mechanics know how to fix them (don't try the Nissan dealerships, they have no clue on how to fix them). I'm looking to buy a Z32 NA 2+2 as they are more comfortable and relatively easier to maintain.

I’ve always loved the 300zx TT and was looking to buy one several years ago. However, throughout all my research, I found this car was an absolute maintenance queen. That tight engine space is a real bitch to work on. It scared me off because I knew trying to find someone to work on it was going to be tough and very expensive. Still wish I had a Z though ….

Yeah you almost have to have the car shipped to a reputable shop somewhere in the country. Just certain areas have few experts. I can say that East Valley in Mesa AZ and Red Rock in G Junction have done a great job on my 370z, but obviously that's apples / oranges vs. the much nicer/older classic. There are Nissan dealers to be avoided, that have super high turnover and for critical work, avoid at all cost.

Just subscribed after watching this video. I also bought my z32 tt manual 5 months ago. Also took my sons and wife to pick the car up in Barcelona. The car was in deep need of love, now it is restored and happy after spending more in the process than the price I paid for the car. This was my dream car as a kid, very rare and exotic in Spain. I feel every bit as excited as Todd in this video. A pleasure to watch it. Greetings from Spain!.

Thank you for doing this piece. The Z32 holds a special place in my heart. I bought a '90 NA 5-speed after high school and would spend countless hours learning to wrench on it and geeking out at how thoughtfully engineered everything was. Makes me want to go looking for a fresh TT!

I had a 1990 300zx twin turbo, I rebuilt the engine and put bigger turbos on it and relocated fuse box, plus a lot more things, it was a really nice car. Had that for about 12 years. I do miss the car and I definitely missed the t-tops during the nice summer days, wish they built them again. Love it, enjoy it!

Loved my 90’ 300zx twin turbo, a true drivers car. Happy you went back to yours. I met my now wife 16 years ago with mine, we drove as two 18 year olds with the Ttops off, driving all the time with nowhere to go. I own the next best thing now, my Shelby GT350. Will add a 300zx TT to my collection soon!

Todd, love the obvious excitement you have in this video for this car! In the late 90's I picked up a 90' Z32 NA at an auction no less. Replaced the battery, exhaust and timng belt. I've had my 94 probe gt since new, daily driven almost everyday over the last 27yrs.. Ive seen people around me own car after car while I kept mine..I know it inside and out and do all the work on it myself..It must be a real mindtrip to get almost the same car you had back in the day but a better and faster version of it! Im sure it triggers all kinds of good memories! Congrats, she's a beauty!

Kuddos for sticking with the dream - and taking your kid along on the ride. This is the most good-looking Z car (bar maybe the new 400), the headlamps will forever remind me of the poor Lambo who "borrowed" them with a truly Italian charm for the Diablo. Well done for the car and greetings from Latvia.

Such a great pure sports car. My best friend has a 1989 Z32 twin turbo Japanese right hand model. He has spent the last decade restoring and basically perfecting the chassis along upgrades to the engine, tranny and clutch. Bigger turbos, upgraded intercooler. The car is insane now and is about 600bhp now.
