I picked up this Kubota 4-in-1 bucket at the large auction I go to every year (mentioned in previous videos). While I wouldn't recommend this as someone's only bucket, it does have some cool features that you may find useful. In this video we will get it ready to install on the tractor, discuss the basic functions of the implement, and then talk about whether or not it would be right for you.

In Australia the majority of tractors are sold with four in one buckets, the last two Kubotas I bought have four in ones they are great almost as handy as a grapple
@JaredsShop

That’s awesome. They’re kinda rare here in the states. Some of the larger commercial backhoes come with them but it’s rare on tractors.

Our tractor came with a 4 in 1 bucket. Most tractors with a loader sold in Australia come with a 4 in 1 bucket. Standard buckets are not popular and are considered to be a second best option. I’m still learning how to use its functions besides as a bucket. Opening the bucket to spread or dump material instead on dumping is good as you don’t have to lift the loader so high. It’s also good at grabbing stuff. It’s a learning experience though. One good aspect is 4 in 1 buckets are strongly built so they seem to hold up better and not get bent like standard buckets.

That’s interesting to hear. They are very rare here. I bet less than 1% come with them. It could be as low as .1%, at least on tractors. Full size backhoes are more likely to come with one. I looked for one for sale just to see what the current value was and I couldn’t find one for sale anywhere in the US. I’m excited to use it but it’ll probably be another month or so before the weather is nice enough. I still doubt I’ll use it as my regular bucket though. I have a very nice new bucket made of AR450 Hardox. It’s larger, stronger, and lighter than a normal bucket. I’ll be able to carry more in a nearly indestructible bucket. Have you done much dozing with it?
@kdegraa
@kdegraa 2 жыл бұрын
@@JaredsShop I have not done much dozing besides pushing logs along the ground. I mainly use the bucket as a bucket. Speaking of bad weather it’s been raining pretty well non stop for the last few days, on the back of a lot of rain over the last few months. The one lesson I’ve learned is don’t take the tractor out when the ground is saturated.

Teflon Tape Tip: My L3560 hasn't come in yet so I will give you another tip on applying Teflon tape to go along with your good ones. Your goto habit seems to be holding the roll of tape coming off the top of the roll when you start applying it at 11 to 1 o'clock on the fitting. I noticed as you went around with your right hand you had to keep taking up the slack that is created with that method. If you turn the roll over and come off the bottom of the roll (side closest to the fitting if you don't start on top) then as you go around the fitting it will pull tight instead of constantly getting longer requiring you to take up the slack. You will actually have to let it slip a bit in your hand but it is very easy to keep tension on the tape as you go around. Just a tip. I'm sure all you guys know a million things I don't. And... Thanks for explaining the 4 uses of that bucket! I have never used one.
@JaredsShop
@JaredsShop 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I’ve held it both ways and no matter what I’m having to either roll it or unroll it. The size of the fitting compared to the size of the roll has a lot to do with how much you have to mess with it. I know some guys will wrap their tape on a pencil so it’s smaller than the fitting and stays tighter that way. I’ll try it again your way on the next fittings. When will your tractor be in?

I need to do a video review some time. I’ve become pretty frustrated at KZfaq and had stopped making videos because all they seem to care about is junk videos with clickbait titles. They won’t promote videos with useful titles. They’d rather creators name something like “should I have bought this?” It’s all about tricking people into watching that video and I think it’s wrong.

I own this L2245 72” bucket on my L4060 and no other bucket or grapple. 3 major issues with it. First the inside of the bucked has a raised section trapping material (manure in my case). Second is it suffers from what I call a loose jaw. The hydraulic cylinders loose pressure slowly and the jaw becomes loose and floppy. So just clamping shut fixes it but sometimes you’ll lose material before realizing. Best way I can describe it. Also means it can lose clamping pressure over time. The cylinders need a Hydraulic Double Pilot Operated Check Valve. Maybe I’ll add it one day. Lastly the dozer function is useless because with the jaw open it still leaves half the bucket to catch material instead of push it. He describes the issue in the video. I would have gotten the heavy duty bucket instead because I like the bolt on cutting edge and the heavier gauge steel if I had to do it over again. I do use the 4 in 1 to grab and move boulders/stones and logs but sticks don’t work well with this. I will say the L2245 is built like a tank and looks so freaking cool. I have not found that its weight inhibits the LA805 loader at all as I can take full heaping scoops of decomposed granite to full loader height.

@JaredsShop 2 ай бұрын
Very well put. I definitely feel the same. As I was reading your post I was going to recommend a dual pilot check valve but then see you’re already familiar. I’m not sure if you saw my other video but I also now own a WR Long 4-1 bucket and it solves some of these issues.

Hey man awesome video! Just came across your channel a week ago and have been watching all of your videos. Funny story.. I was at that auction bidding on this exact bucket! I wanted it for the exact reason you bought it for which was to get that last little bit of dirt, stone, whatever. You got an awesome deal on it man! Dealer asked if I wanted one when I bought my new kubota end of last year. I opted out. One reason is I already own a grapple and second reason is I swap from bucket to pallet forks quite frequently and I have the hydraulic skid steer disconnect so I didn’t want to have to get out of the cab to unhook hydraulic hoses. I rarely use the grapple so that’s the only item I have to worry about those. I could see a few times it would be neat to own but not worth the cost in my opinion.
@JaredsShop
@JaredsShop 2 жыл бұрын
Completely understand. I too dread getting off the tractor to hook and unhook hoses. I have the hydraulic levers also and love being able to swap attachments easily. One thing I failed to mention is that I think this will most likely get used when I’m doing side jobs. Instead of loading up several attachments I’m hoping to maybe just use this. I think the only time it will get used around the house is for metering gravel and clam shelling piles, but we’ll see.

Yes, but it’s not my main bucket. I also have since added another 4-1 bucket made by WR Long. My main bucket is made from Hardox, has a large capacity, is lighter, and has a an awesome toothed cutting edge on it. I use these buckets for specific purposes and jobs. Where I really like them is when I’m trying to clamshell piles of dirt or rocks. So, if I’m working a job and I know I’ll be doing a lot of cleanup and don’t want to chase piles with a regular bucket, these save me time. Dragging back with just the lid is nice also. The other time I’ll use these is if I’m doing a good bit of bulldozing, especially with the WR as it has a very nice dozer edge when it is open. The Kubota is better at clamshelling. They’re also handy if you need to do some minor clamping and picking up of larger objects, although I’ll always go to my grapple if I’m doing a lot of debris pickup. Once again, it just really depends on the tasks at hand and what attachments I want to take with me.
