I BOUGHT A BUELL CYCLONE!! She's A Bit Rough... In this video I introduce a new project in this super rad 2000 Buell Cyclone M2 which I consider the Pantera of motorcycles! Watch as I jump on the deal, assess the bike, and make it run all in order to make a plan for my next steps on the project.
I have always wanted a Buell and more specifically an XB12s but this deal was far too good to pass up so I now have this rad M2 Cyclone which many state was the greatest Buell ever made! The bike needs work to be road ready but it has so much going for it and great bones to start with. Stick around for this as I CAN'T WAIT to get it on the road and have a ton of fun with it!

Very cool. I happened upon an S1 Lightning of my own by accident as well. I was about to get a new ZX6R that weekend and a good buddy of mine had the Buell sitting in storage unknown to me, and bought it for what my down payment would have been. Awesome 👍. Love a good deal. I came across a 2000 m2 cyclone 6 yrs ago with 942 mi on it. Bought for $1500. This past winter I put a new mikuni carb, force winder air breather, and a super trapp exhaust on it. I just turned 3,000 mi on last weekend. This thing still looks brand new and runs like a champ. I keep it clean and on charger, as I currently ride a HD FLHSX. The m2 is my 50 - 80 back road bike that goes out 1 or 2 times a month. Will be waiting to see how this goes for you.

@@BrickHouseBuilds you right... I had an fz8 in 2011 in black with gold forks and it was so much fun. The seating position really made it easy to clock 17k miles before I got rid and acquired my current bike. Reason I'm on your channel a 1971 cb175 with 2k original miles on it. Already got it chopped inches rear and hooped and installed a tuffside cafe seat pan with matching tuffside grips and all new cables and bearings and also loaded gun customs rearsets and clubman bars. Can't find a set of clip on for this bike since the Schick have a weird taper to the design were the clips would mount. About to break it all down for paint and powder coat a d I just want to say thank you because I used all your video's for inspiration and confidence boost to do it myself. You the man BJ!

Nice looking bike! I've got a 97 S1, it's a little rough around the edges, but I love the thing and plan to keep it forever. Someday it'll get the overhaul it deserves. For seats, you could try to track down an S1 seat/ tail. I've seen a couple fitted with ducati monster seats that looked really good too.
@BrickHouseBuilds
@BrickHouseBuilds 3 жыл бұрын
The S1 tails look so good but im thinking for phase 1 I will trim the stock tail and remove a bit of seat foam just to keep it on the cheap while I sort other bikes too. Eventually though this could get more drastic mods!
@joshdemarco9270
@joshdemarco9270 3 жыл бұрын
It looks like someone has already modified that seat slightly, its curves aren't usually that drastic. Reshaping it some could help. Check the prices on those tails before you start chopping it up. Parts for these bikes are getting rare. You might modify that one to save money, but it might end up being cheaper to sell the one whole and use the money to buy something else you like more. My only advice is not to buy anything too big, these bikes are smaller than others, and any time I've seen someone fit a non-buell tail onto one, they always come out looking huge.

You carefully unwrapped the exhaust, the used wrap is that something that can be cleaned up and used on another project or put back on , meaning a cost saving somewhere down the line? The broken exhaust stud that has been repaired several times, what tells you to try another repair or buy a replacement jug?
@BrickHouseBuilds
@BrickHouseBuilds 3 жыл бұрын
I guess you could use the portions that aren't frayed and in decent shape so yes. In regards to the head, I am thinking about pulling the head to have that section machined so I can do a legit TIG weld repair of that area. No need to replace but rather just remove to do a better quality repair off the bike.

i had a 97, so not sure how much my knowledge transfers over. you should get really good at fixing head and base gaskets. beware cracks in the front of the shock mount. this can lead to something we used to call the "pole vault", even touch the front brake mid corner and the bike will stand up and head for the ditch.

Crazy i missed this while series all this time? I'm just now getting into these thinking about buying one but my major reservation is the engine??? I'm riding a sportster now 500ish miles in mostly shorts rides. I know the heads and cams change it a bit. I'm good with the power of these but the vibrations at low rpm/ idle just got me wondering long term how ill like it. My other bike is a Honda cm400 cafe racer'd out i want more power but i do like smooth engine power.

Well this was 2 years ago already so many people haven't seen it. The vibrations aren't too bad as they did well on rubber mounting everything so it doesnt translate into your hands. It wouldn't vibrate any more than your sportster.

@@BrickHouseBuilds but that's just it. I'm borrowing the sportster from a friend while my Honda is down waiting for parts to show up. I considered buying this sportster but the vibes do bother my hands at times. And I'm just not a Harley guy athletically. I can ride my Honda for a couple hours with the full clipons and $ 30 ebay cafe seat. But after 45 min on the Harley I'm ready for a break for my hands and butt. But I love the look , theres no way the handeling isn't fantastic,and i know it's plenty of power for me and they are so cheap. one I'm looking at tomorrow is 2200 in pretty good liking shape in the pics and video.

the BUELL (company you call it) didn't fail because of the way the bikes was built. its failed because Harley Davidson decided they didn't want BUELL to change the persona,representation of it own company. They hated the fact there own engineer built the bikes ahead of there time in technology and chassis handling. Eric Buell Has Patents that made his motorcycles stand out and out perform other manufactures and still does if he had people invest. I am a BUELL rider and stand behind his products even if they not around which by the way Eric Buell still builds monsters. Sorry but have to correct You on something you Needed Info on sir.
