One of my favourite parts of this channel is that nothing seems to faze you in terms of buying certain cars which might have known faults, I.e Navaras snapping chassis, Jaguars snapping crank shafts, BMW’s and their timing chains. I could never buy any of the above cars for this reasons but I admire that you can and it doesn’t bother you at all - ultimately it’s a better outlook!

Bought a '57 Navara (92k) last year as a farm runaround - has been very good so far. Gets used several times a days - even does the odd long motorway journey. Interestingly I've had the same issue with the driver's door only opening from the outside. Found that the same locks have been used front and back and the child lock had slipped on. The lock can be accessed (without removing the door card) by removing the 3 bolts along the door edge and pivoting the lock until you can flick the child lock off with a screwdriver. A more permanent fix might be to put a self-tapper in there to stop it slipping again.

I'm quite curious to get a Part 2 for this truck. It looks like it's a fairly well maintained work-horse, and vehicles like that tend to give fairly good service. Plus inside it looks really nice; spacious, comfortable, well equipped. The lockable bed cover is practical... If that quarter panel could be repaired, it looks like a really useful vehicle to have around.

Always liked the look of the Navarra. When you mentioned how easy it was to drive it reminded me a guy that I used to encounter on the A41 around 5am every Monday morning. He used to fly down that road like he was driving a Focus RS 😧. I thought they were slow and cumbersome, but he proved otherwise.

@@Storm.Z.4u Disagree - I own a newer 3.0L variant of this truck - on performance touring tyres it'll break 8 seconds 0-60 and is surprisingly chuckable with progressive steering and overall good feedback (despite some vagueness at times) the steering overall is light but weighting up nicely in the corners - it puts most medium to large size crossovers I've driven to shame. The model I have also has transmission/electronics based off the 370Z so is reasonably responsive with again nice progressive power delivery and fast smooth gear changes. The only thing in that respect which is lacking is the ride quality which partly thanks to the rear leaf springs is more akin to a 90s era 4x4. Even the 2.5L variant isn't terrible though the engine is far more industrial like rattly diesel compared to the 3.0 and a bit more jerky in comparison - though pretty strong if you need a workhorse for towing, etc. That said given it is over 2tons of truck needs a lot of responsibility to drive in any kind of spirited fashion and I certainly don't rag it around the road.

Plenty here with 400k and years left in them. Loads on the road here so parts a dirt cheap, just the actual Ute that’s expensive. You could get the proper wheels and the whole rear tub for a few hundred dollars. Never saw anybody do a rear quarter on a Ute tub, cheaper to swap the whole thing here. Navara snapped chassis syndrome! Mine was a 2006, served us well. Great vehicle until a fateful MOT in about 2016 where significant corrosion was picked up and rot in the rear section of the chassis frame. Close to snapping. Nissan only informed us after our 10 warranty had expired and which was kind of them. Bought a reinforcing kit that a similar navara owner had designed. Faced with losing the truck completely i.e. a write off, a mate and I took the tub off and he painstakingly, removed bad and re-welded attaching this kit. Then passed an MOT. Sent it through a well known car purchasing brand eventually. Few other spurious issues too, off the road now I believe.

4 years ago we bought a cheap Golf 3 convertible with a accident behind the drivers door, it looked like the one at the pickup and I thought to myself "oh well, I can have that repaired, it probably won't be that expensive". I then sold the car again after 2 years because it wouldn't have been worth it.

I think I would look at sourcing a whole used rear tub, with the damage to one side and the rust on the other be easier to make a good job replacing the whole thing. Might even get lucky and find one in the correct colour. Lovin' your work, keep it up!

@@Storm.Z.4u seems decent apart from the damage, £4-500 for a replacement would still leave some room for profit, at the moment probably only worth what he paid for it.

Good bargain ,think you need to check that tub is square, judging cab tub gap on damaged side repair panels are weld bonded.Think best option would be used tub in same colour and you could pick up wings and wheels plenty in breakers that slit chassis’s.

I lived In Thailand for 16 years, Thailand is the land of pickups! I had a great mechanic named Pan who had previously worked in R&D for Mazda in Australia and had retired to his home country of Thailand and opened a garage, he worked on cars for the love of the job. Anyway, nobody knows more about pickups than Pan, and I asked him which was the best Pickup, expecting him to say Toyota Hilux or Ford/Mazda Ranger, he surprised me by saying Nissan Navara and went on to explain all the reasons why.

@@boblion4186 Hi bob, it was a few years ago and I can’t really remember all the reasons but he certainly rated the engine, the build quality and the reliability. I’m not sure if Navara in Thailand is the same vehicle as Navara in other markets, I say this because now I am living in Europe and Nissan vehicles here seem to be very different from the Nissan vehicles in Thailand.

The best vehicle I’ve ever had. Loved my navara double cab. It’s probably an adventura edition not techna. I Had the full canopy on the back in drug dealer black. I covered 234k in 7 years still on the same clutch/ engine/ gearbox. Only issues over the time were the electrical gremlins, sat nav faults air bag warning light , 👍👍👍

@@Storm.Z.4u yes it does B. I’ve not been blessed with huge pool to choose from as a works vehicle, but against the Mitsubishi l200 the first edition of the Ford ranger, it was head and shoulders above the rest. And with no benefit in kind to the tax man it’s still a commercial vehicle no added cost to me, so why wouldn’t I love a 4x4 with leather , sat nav , a/c heated seats ect ect kids and family all fit in great for European holiday trips room in the rear pickup compartment and not pay for the weekend diesel , win win I’d say.

Good luck taking it to the tip at Bredbury, Stalybridge etc. I've got a L200 which I use for non-business use. I need a permit to show when going to the tip (apply online) and I can only go eighteen times a year at their discretion depending what waste you're tipping. If the pick up is registered in your business capacity they probably will turn you away mate.

I know someone who had a tidy one of these. He checked the chassis - all Okay. He buffed it up and got a call from a Ukrainian guy who subsequently bought it for the asking price. He told him it was buying them up for the Ukrainian military. Two weeks later he gets photos of it painted on camouflage in Ukraine.

You might struggle to take stuff to the tip in it without a commercial waste license. You may need to read up on this and your local council. Here in sunny Leeds if you turn up with a van or pickup they refuse you entry.

Don't forget pick up trucks are usually considered as commercial vehicles, so tip runs might need a permit! Excellent video though.
