I bought a FORZA XBox One with the Black Screen Of DEATH | Can I FIX It?

Күн бұрынI have been foolishly buying things off eBay again, and this one is a really nice Xbox One Forza 6 Edition, fully boxed with controller for £52.
It was described as having no video image, and it just boots to a black screen.
Let's see if I can fix it!

PS. I'm not an expert in repairs at all. I do this for fun, and it may not be the best or safest way to go about repairing broken stuff. I'm pretty good at melting plastic though.

Good job mate. There's a tip that I learned the hard way for the top cover of the Xbox One. Separate the top cover and front panel, and it's 10x times easier to put back together at the end (I didn't even know they came apart!). 😁

Thanks Joey! Wow, that is a good tip, I had no idea either! I obviously edited it down, but I spent a good 20 minutes trying to get that bloody case back together 😂

I bet seller is kicking their selves now for such a simple fix. Really nice looking console there pity pad has seen some action but over all a bargain, well done. Just subbed like your approach and sense of humour much appreciated

Steve don't show Engineering Scale Models the death of the Label you'll make him cry 😂 That was one of the easiest fixes & one of the nicest consoles in the Xbox range. 🖖👍

hi bud well done on that Xbox one at first l thought the fan was making that noise but my friend said that noise is the Forza Engine start lol

Are you a PS fan boy? or just a sarcastic idiot? He changed and replaced what needed to be replaced, got it working and owns a limited edition XB1?????? With what he paid overall for the quality of a LE console, that is a bargain. CEX sell the original, standard XB1, used and unboxed for £95! Over £100 for a boxed one, that is just a standard black, 500G. The Forza controller alone in CEX is £55! So i don't see your point? Because he got it working for less than you can buy a working Limited Edition console online.

This is very true, I have the Star Wars Xbox 360 and its awesome to hear the little R2D2 beeps on it. Excellent attention to detail. Sony just seem to print a custom shell and leave it at that.

If this does not work for you, my Xbox would not give me the troubleshoot screen to pop up when I held down the two buttons upon start up, but I held the power button down until it did a factory reset when it was on to turn it off, and then when I turned it back on I held down the power button alone until it did something weird after about eight seconds, then the next time I started it and press those two buttons it did allow the troubleshoot menu to come up

I bought one of those in 2015. It had a persistent issue where the controller would disconnect at random. I sent it to Microsoft, and even they couldn't fix it. In the end it went back to Amazon. I do miss the engine start sound.

I've had this xbox for around 3 years now. Its out lasted 2 xbox one x's. I have a strong belief the original xbox one fan design is a lot more efficient than the one x variant. I know the x has more power, but even 10 year old me knew that heat rises, not sideways. The fan being mounted on top is my reason for me believing this is the more efficient model. Am I wrong?

Honestly, I think you're onto something. Shitty thermals and inefficient exhausts kill electronics - especially consoles. Hell, try adding a few top exhaust fans on top of a PC and you'll see noticable temperature and sound difference.

@@duduoson5278 It just makes no sense to build a console with more powerful components, then give it less than adequate cooling. To top it off, the x is smaller and has to house a hot psu. It reeks of a money pit. They had the same fan system on the 360 and look what happened to that. They put a vertical fan system on the slim and immediately improved the life of them. It’s done on purpose.

I don’t understand how these get so dirty and jacked up when they are so new. My n64 from the 90s isn’t anywhere near as janky as these. Fans prob have something to do with it.

I still have and use my forza edition Xbox I bought when it came out. I shudder to think about the amount of dust and stuff on the inside cause I’ve barely ever cleaned it.

Hi Magpie! Awesome, glad it's still going strong. Yeah, they do accumulate quite a lot of dust inside! As long as it's not overheating or making loud noises, you should be OK! 👍

I’m unfortunately having to attempt surgery on my forza edition tonight. She ran like a champ for almost 8 years without a single problem but I think my hard drive finally bit the bullet. I’m convinced they make all their profit from controller sales. I’ve went through at least 25-30 controllers in the lifespan of this console haha

It makes an even stranger noise pressing the eject button, almost like a power tool sound. But yea, that’s the sound of a revving engine.

The thing that really annoys the living crap out of me is that people keep saying red ring of death, black screen of death, etc. It’s so god damn inaccurate and nonsensical… everyone who uses those terms should or educate themselves or just don’t ever mention it like that

About 5 years ago I sold one that was so mint you would honestly think it was brand new (as I hardly ever played it and I put box in storage straight away) not going to say which company but I was offered a "B grade" price of £80 for it which I accepted as I wanted rid of. Kinda crazy 5 years later a used and non mint one goes for not much less.

@@o.strxps that would be a problem with the software update. It is either not the correct or a corrupt update file, or (if you've ever taken your xbox apart) you could possibly have a ribbon connector loose or damaged on the disc drive or similar...

Late reply to this, but I had that problem also (and my console was out of warranty by like a day) and it turned out the issue was that card that Stez didn't put back in properly the first time. I bought a replacement one and it worked perfectly after that!
