The Les Paul was brought back to the market in 1968, but by mid-69, the Les Paul Deluxe had taken over. Today, I share with you one of the EARLIEST Les Paul Deluxe ever made - not only by year... but by unique feature that only the first ones had - a blank headstock with "Les Paul Deluxe" on the truss rod cover. These unique beasts opted to have the Les Paul Name on the truss rod cover instead of as a silkscreen on the headstock. Very few were made in this variation as most have the typical "Deluxe" truss rod cover and LP Model silkscreen. It is similar to how the first 1968 Les Pauls mistakenly had crowns! I love pieces of history like this
