Күн бұрынI bought a rare motorcycle! This is my new 1983 Yamaha RX-50 2 stroke!! There were only 2,000 of these bikes ever made, and I own one of them! These bikes were never actually sold, but given to Yamaha dealers to promote Yamaha's new "Special" line of bikes. To read up a bit more on this bike, check out this article:

I had one like the black and gold back in 98 or so, it was stupid fun, took my 2 YO doing wheelies up and down the sidewalk on it all the time.

I think you should do a restore since it is a rare bike, but before any work is done I'd verify it isn't stolen. A simple call to your local sheriff's office and they can let you know what the vin comes up with. Also if your bars are 7/8" I have a pair I would donate if you want them; they are similar to the stock xs650 with I think a 6" rise.

I have this bike...and it runs like a TOP! missing my key now but I think its an easy inexpensive fix. It was sitting for YEARS in my friends garage after her husband passed. My husband offered to paint a hallway for it..she was happy to part with it for me because I am..I was a beginner rider. this bike is the FUNNEST. thinking about selling but on the fence. Thank you for this awesome video..enjoy your special..like I do!!!

There were three colors. Red, black, and the Midnight Special version. Only the MS was the give away bike, the other 2 sold for around $650. I bought a MS bike when the winner sold it back to the dealership new. It was great fun, would do 60mph indicated. With an expansion chamber exhaust and better reeds I think it would go even faster. For a 13 year old it was a whole new world of freedom owning that bike. I wish I still had it!

Hey golden guy, Im in the process of buying this exact bike, just need to go pick it up this weekend. I've never ridden, do you consider this a good starter bike? I don't feel comfortable trying to start out on anything bigger, but also worried this may be too small. Any thoughts? Love the videos by the way, very informative. Thank you for posting them.

In germany you basically get these with 80cc for free, it has the same engine as the Dt50/80mx and the Rd50/80mx

What size tires came with the original I love my bike I'm 60 and am female I wouldn't change it. I do need a odometer and speedometer other than that it's perfect. I've had it for a long time.

I have one and are the lights and all supposed to stay off until the engine starts or is something wrong with mine? No nothing until it fires up, then everything comes on but kill it, and lights all go out. Is this how a 6v system works?
