So here it is! My Alfa Romeo 159 2.2 Ti! Was this a realistic car to buy as a 21 year old? Whats wrong with it? Well lets just say there is a list of problems...

Few tips on these beauties - check the timing chain has been changed in last 30-40 thousand miles, really important! The bushes in the upper and lower wishbones (suspension) wear quickly (heavy car) as do wheel bearings, (you can hear clonks and knocks from front of car). Anti roll bar bushes also wear - usually around £130k mileage. Rear shocks rust and front springs crack - great mod are Eibach sport springs all round coupled with Bilstein B6 shocks - will handle as if on rails! Oh and if your clock is flashing after your head unit upgrade, it's your canbus connections, you can get a lead for that. Enjoy - cracking car!

These are some of the most reliable cars on the road. Alfa recruited the man responsible for one of the Rolls Royce models and who over-saw recent BMW models. Quality was his priority. In 2 years my 07 Brera JTDm needed a CPS sensor and power steering high pressure hose. Probably as a result of the diesel vibrations. Protect the sub-frame from corrosion and the rest of the car is strong.

Just bought this car today. The wagon version. It looks so sick. I got the jts 2.2 just like you. Its an 09 model with 150 k mileage. Bought it for 2400 euros. It drives so nice. But still gotta check up on some things just to make sure. Great vid bro

Alfa 159 was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, one of the greatest car designers of our time, the very reason why nearly 20 years later it still looks awesome. Have some respect for the old man and leave it as it is.

I have the 159 tbi lusso ,had it mapped up to 250 bhp.( but probably only has 235 ) as it was two years ago.Love the car ,main future issues could be the m32 gear box ( it’s not great).brittle coolant bottles ,and engine cover can be prone to split.Stone chips are a night mare due to the long low bonnet,and sometimes the side wing mirrors corrode badly.Overall the best Alfa I’ve had ,and the 1.750cc is a is a absolute respected classic when it comes to Alfa engines.

I have the Tbi Ti, mine has been re-mapped to 240bhp (stage 1), had to get my gearbox rebuilt, it had stick movement in 1st and 5th, got it done by a guy in Halifax, rebuilt it in less than 2 hours, drove down from Glasgow but was well worth the trip.

@@jasonparfitt5936 Yep, i can highly recommend him, he does a lot of VXR's but will do any M32 boxed car, full set of bearings (not diff bearings), and a new 3rd gear for £350, only bummer was there is no where to wait at the garage so i had to wander round Halifax while he did it, still worth it though.

Was actually thinking of getting the 159 as my first car I absolutely adore the way it looks didn’t make a quote to see how much insurance will be but don’t wanna find out to be fair what year is yours?

Nice to see a diferent car project. Mine has the first 200.000km time to bigger turbo and intercooler. I'm glad for reliability that everyone talks, nobody buy one and I could have a diferent car from everyone.

My alfa romeo is the same color and everything only thing is mine is JTDm 1.9 with 150 hp 2009. I really recommend changing the oil compressor

Hey bro, I believe it’s a Pioneer SPH-DA130DAB. They are already wireless with Bluetooth but to use the CarPlay wirelessly you have to get an adapter. There’s lots online.

Ti springs break. Great upgrade is Eibach springs and Bilstein B4 shocks.

For the radio I would have opted for an original navigator, otherwise really wonderful I have the 1.9 16v 150hp with the same interior as yours but for me the seats are in fabric

The original navigator just was a bit too outdated for me and I wanted the car play features, but good to see a fellow 159 owners here ;)

Word of warning the lights are terrible due to the fact they don't stay clean for long in the winter and they don't have washers. You'll be pulling over or squinting like fuck to see most of the time.

Yea first couple of drives and they were already looking nasty bro 😂 was thinking to get some LED’s to replace the halogens maybe that way they have a lil more brightness to them even if they do get a lil dirty. But yea just one of those Alfa things 🤷‍♂️

@@rayskiii I'm on the fence with LEDs apparently the light reflects off of more surfaces creating more of a hindrance than solution. Give them a bash and see what like, but you'll figure out sooner or later the Italians are more form over function. 😄

One thing to know about the car which I hate on mine as well is the fact that you only get one cupholder and it's placed in the worst possible place which is behind the shifter.

If you open the centre console storage there’s space for two more cups. There’s indents in the storage walls to keep them in place 😮
