Brooo the way u play with that passion, nostalgia and happiness is bloody AMAZING :D ! I have a backwards compatible ps3 but the 60gb from the US CECHA01 with the NEC/TOKIN capacitors replaced with tantalum capacitors so no worries about YLOD anymore, i really love that console its like my baby xD. You've got a new suscriber over here. Keep doing this kind of videos dude really love it :)

I always thought they took out backwards compatibility from the ps3 completely. But I only found out about a year ago that all ps3’s to this day; still have ps1 backwards compatibility; my mind was blown.

I grew up with Vice City too, but the PC version. We couldn't have a PS2 until 2007, and we never had a PS3.

Still got my original 4 port PS3. I finally have to thermo paste & clean. Using backup lie on ebay model. Got use my PS2 play PS2 games. Seriously PS3 was Sony thank you for supporting. Machine that play all games Sony 1-3. 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 Sony mess up with PS4! PS5 better read my PS1 black label disc 😂😂😂😂

I hope you don't have a nightmare with the blueray drive failing (the BD drives from later ps3s are not compatible with the early ones due to a lockout chip sony used). That and spend the £15 on replacement batteries for your controllers, the original batteries are likely failing. Cheers and enjoy! :)

little known fact, as on the PS2 the PS logo on the front of the console can be rotated to match whether the machine is upright or flat..

Sony should do that with the PS5. Just to put the final touches on it. That would be DOOOOOPPPPPPEEEE. They could even make it an LED where you could switch from a menu.

Vice City has the option to put it in Widescreen mode that you missed in the settings. But yeah all the GTAs just play through the PS4/5 through the classics digitally. But I mainly want backwards compatibility for the games that never got remastered like Viewiful Joe and Smackdown games, Def Jam, DBZ games, bunch of license games, and a whole bunch more. I wish Sony would make the PS5 backwards compatible somehow

Damn you sound like me as teenagers after $600 price was drop to $399. 😂 Nothing like 1st time realize it play 97% of old games played👏🏿👏🏿 . Gaming consoles Standard. Next gen still trying replace my 4 port 60gb PS3. The memory it still got saved. I did put 500 gb in it.

I've bought one of those too. The compatibility isn't 100%. Some PS2 games have minor graphical glitches. But it's still probably more compatible than current PS2 on pc emulation.

PS2 games are being ported to the PS4. So I'm curious which is better. PC emulation, PS3 60GB hardware-based compatibility, or PS4 port.

It's supposed to be 100% backwards compatible, as it literally has the PS2 Emotion Engine on its motherboard.

@@CassandraPantaristi wrong this model is 100 percent compatible you guys are thinking about the later e model which uses emulation. This one has the full ps2 hardware in it, it can play anything a ps2 can play.

I have this model PS3 model. Bought it on launch, but then put it into storage in late 2008. I have just dug it out, after nearly 13 years in storage and it works great with the games I had bought back then! I have just bought "The Last of Us" to try in it, but it won't start, as it says I need to update the system software. Right now the system software is so old that it still supports Linux! Trying to decide if I want to update it or not.

Just a heads up about GTA vice city on ps3 60gb it freezes sometimes when loading the second island and have to reset game to retry.

It’s beautiful. If I remember correctly, CECHC03 has software emulation for PS2 games. That’s awesome too. I have a CECHA07, which is a Taiwanese (consider Japan region) model. Has full-on hardware chip. Take care of it bud. These models become rarer and rarer everyday. 🙏

The two fat PS3s that I owned died from YLOD. Hope you have better luck with yours. You might have to repaste it before it starts showing symptoms. Being able to play PS1/PS2/PS3 games on one console is truly a luxury in 2020.

i got a bc 60GB ps3 as well that was playing ps2 games fine last year but now has a freezing issue with ps2 the same ps2 games it played just fine last year. I don't know what caused it but it plays PS3 games just fine currently but ps2 games causes it to softlock and all i can do is press the home button to reset the game or quit out of it?

Is your ps3 a little loud while playing the old games ? I bought an A01 model and it’s not jet engine loud but it gets somewhat loud not too long after it’s on. I don’t play it too much in fear it will YLOD on me.

The A01 was a 1st generation PS3 and will more than likely get the YLOD because the thermal paste turned to chalk. You would most likely need to repaste it, if you dont want it to end up dying in a few months.

@@TheKANTUS101 I did the same too, but only after my fat PS3 got the YLOD. It still wouldn't turn on. Still, you're lucky enough to own a functioning A01 unit. If I were you, I'd shelf it and treat it like a collector's item.
