Yup, that is the way of the budget market. Every step up gives a massive increase in performance and quality. Like going from a $30 GPU to a $50 GPU to a $70 GPU to a $90 GPU, each step massively improves the result. And there are lots of budget things that are budget, but not cheap. For the longest time I played with a 20 € mouse, and it did a great job. Not as good as one for 50, but a noticable difference to one for 10

@Eric_Fate
@Eric_Fate 4 ай бұрын
The mouse jiggler would be an absolute godsend for jobs like mine where the IT department doesn't count actual computer activity as *use*, so if I trigger a large batch script and let it run -- odds are good I will come back and find my VDI session has timed out and been recycled even though the script still had several hours to go. I usually have to put the mouse on my record turntable and clip the cord in place to keep it from entering sleep mode when I can't be bothered to sit here and interact with the stupid thing every fifteen minutes.
@cnk-fn3nr
@cnk-fn3nr 4 ай бұрын
yeah reminds me of those MMO's and whatnot where you could AFK fish and some games didn't like that too much, so this would keep you "active". Though nowadays games would either have more complex detection or simply not care, AFK gaming is often promoted often times, as long as they keep you in the game.

Off topic but your comment reminded me of the one time I was at McDonalds and saw a man buy 5 Big Macs, 2 buckets of fries (at one point McDs sold buckets of fries) 2 large drinks and then he brought a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos into the restaurant to eat with his meal. Okay, to be fair, mouse jigglers have one purpose that can be really handy. If you get a laptop from the government, or from a massive corporation, they typically have very short lock periods (mine is about a minute.) What that means is you can't even go to the bathroom without the laptop locking, requiring logging back in (generally with a smartcard) and re-opening your VPN connections. A jiggler allows you to go to the bathroom, or make a cup of coffee without having to relogin to everything. Obviously you don't use them in an unsecured environment, but if it's sitting on your desk at home... yeah, they are a huge time saver.

It's likely a "Peltier" cooler. Peltier devices use materials where when a voltage is applied, one side gets really hot and the other gets really cold. There used to be CPU Peltier coolers like 15 years ago, I think they are out of fashion because they generate a lot more heat than they take away. So the CPU does get really cold, but the inside of the case gets very hot.

To make a point in favor of the half keyboard. I use one myself, and every day. I have a regular keyboard ALSO plugged in. It's just when I gane I like my arms to be more spread put and I hate having to pick up my heavy mechanical keyboard and move it over to the side and at an angle so I can relax and use one hand on keys one on mouse. With the half keyboard it's so convenient, and 90% of games I play, mainly competitive fps games, never have a need for a button I can't hit with one hand. And if I need to chat, my other full size is right there. But again, I also have a huge desk and use a 42 inch monitor so, your milage may vary.

I will say the half keyboard does actually have a use case. Some people don't have a lot of desk space so the half keyboard allows them to have more mouse travel space while gaming. It is in no way a replacement for a full keyboard but it is an instead option. Artists also use similar keyboards for macro keys as there desk tends to be taken up by their drawing tablet.

For the shoulder button thing and getting games with buttons up there... I'm wondering if they were thinking of Steam Link where you can move around on screen buttons for the controller prompts so it would work with any game you stream that way.

That half keyboard is potentially useful for anybody that takes a wide gaming stance, with a lot of space between keyboard and mouse. Place it off to the left of your typing keyboard.

The half keyboard is actually pretty nice. A lot of people use them for things like shooting games. It gives people that don't have a lot of space more space for the mouse.

- Okay, the shoulder triggers have an actual use case. The most likely use is for emulators. - And that cooler seems to have a peltier element? - But the mouse, nah, there are better options. A mouse in that price category with such a focus on "g4m3r" design means they don't spend the money on things like a good sensor. - And the "half keyboard" isn't anything new. The biggest benefit is that the saved space can be used for a huge mousepad. (as you found out) And you can still keep a full keyboard as well. Obviously takes time getting used to and requires rebinding some stuff. And there are better options. - The headset falls in the same area as the mouse. All fancy visuals and no quality. - The best use for the mouse jiggler is probably to prevent from appearing afk to not get disconnected in games. - And then a fake wii? Probably a famiclone or some cheap ARM thing? Oh no, it's EyeToy for PS2, but cheaper.

That mouse kinda looks like someone looked at a swiftpoint tracer and went 'oh, we can do that!' and it turned out that no, they could not do that. I have a swiftpoint Z (which is the premium version of the tracer) that is currently in a drawer because, unfortunately, after years of use it started to wear (got very rough on the bottom skates and on the rubber sections of the grip), and it is surprisingly comfy and natural, despite the odd shape and button locations. It's basically the 'fully loaded luxury car' of gaming mice, full of features that you have to actively go out of your way to remember the existence of, but if you work them into your mind, they actually work pretty well. I really hope they start making them again. The knuckle buttons on the swiftpoint mouse are actually fairly accessible and easy to use, while having enough resistance that you aren't going to accidentally trip them. They can also be pulled up instead of pushed down for alternate inputs. The swiftpoint Z actually TRULY shines in creative pursuits. Can have nearly every shortcut right there on the mouse, and rarely have to deal with modifier key inputs on the keyboard. In games I found myself using a lot of the buttons on a pretty rare basis initially, but after getting used to binding certain things to the mouse and having dedicated buttons for them, it was awkward to switch away back to a more 'normal' mouse. In my case that was a G502, then a G305.

Unrelated - you might enjoy reviewing Lexip gaming mice, only ones I've ever seen with a tiny analog stick on them and I have one. Your channel and you are superb; you are one of the elite few on The Tube that I would call a true showman.

If you have enough desk space, the half keyboard combines well with your "normal" keyboard, allowing you to spread your arms in a pretty comfortable position. Needs some time for the brain to get used to what's effectively an extremely wide keyboard of sorts, but it can be VERY comfortable, especially for longer gaming sessions or laborious manual data entry (ask me how I know).

The keyboard peripheral is supposed to be used in conjunction with a normal keyboard, not replace it. I still have an old Belkin Nostromo Speedpad n52 I used to use all the time. Then they stopped making drivers, and software for operating systems from Vista forward. Razer made two versions of it too. One was called Tartarus, and the other was Orb Weaver. They're great once you get used to them, but it takes a good while.

Dawid, in your video ""Can a Noob tell the difference between a calibrated and uncalibrated monitor?"" you said you'd do a follow-up where you tried calibrating a monitor that had horrible colours because the IPS monitors you calibrated were already great out-of-the-box. Can you please make that video? It's very satisfying to watch monitors with a terrible colour tint become neutral.

that's intended to be used as a gamepad/macropad not a keyboard replacement. There's a few different ones out there but the best and now not being sold (I saw a listing on Amazon for 1200USD) was the Logitech G13 but Razer Tartarus is another one. There's also a really funky monstrosity called the Azeron Gaming Keypad :) I think these were most popular with MMOers
