That 7.3L sounds so good. Between my dad and I, I think we had 4 of em and loved them all. That engine alone is worth the price of admission. Ain’t no body on it. Average for a NY truck that played in the snow. Put some power steering fluid in it, the pumps crying 😂. But the 7.3L is gold.

I would just rachet strap the bed to the frame and drive it lol 😂. I definitely want you to try and drive it all the way home. Then sell the engine and scrap the rest.

The oil you saw on the coolant reservoir was the transmission fluid from when you took a look at the transmission dipstick. There is definitely more value in the engine, but you'd have to remove it, so may not be worth it for you.

43:06 That's not oil from any leak. That is the transmission fluid that leaked off the dip stick when you were checking it. Aside from that, I am amazed at how well that engine and transmission runs. Looks like you got lucky on that part at least.

Those bushings that you found are for the gear shifter tube that runs down the steering column. That's why the shifter is so loose. The bushings wear down and eventually pop out of their retainers.

The truck seems to have a healthy drive train that is more then likely worth more then you currently have invested in the truck. If Mike still had the older Ford it might have been a candidate for a drive train swap with help from Santa's work shop. But you certainly have some options with thar drive train. You better make sure the truck isn't using that tank in the bed before removing it. Have fun.

That’s what it’s like here in Mn! I have a 2000 f150 plow truck and I have to cut stuff off all the time 😂 the leaf spring shackles broke off, the tailgate fell off, the running boards fell off, rotten everywhere. But it runs like a top and the driveline is good so I just keep using it. we lose a lot of $ to rust every year.

That truck will run forever with that 7.3. You can work those engines to death and they'll keep going. If I was Randy, I'd take it to the scrap metal place, throw the bed in, and drive it back to Oklahoma! It will totally make it!

@@rickylindsey3402 wouldnt be much a issue for me im used to working on trucks like that. i live in pa so our autos get rusty to lol. though that truck is in better shape then some in ohio. ive seen cars missing fenders hoods and doors on the road in ohio.

Randy, you need to enlist santa, and Monkey wrench mike to help you swap drive train into better body Ford from copart. You have featured multiple ones on your walk-arounds, that were mechanically challenged. Would make a good project and content for the channel. Hey man, moving to Indiana might be good for you, just keep your channel going 😉, ps Monkey wrench and santa wold definitely miss you, not to mention your mom. That truck is very friendly. It waves at everybody... But living up here in the rust belt of northeastern MinneSNOWta, I am used to seeing that. Minnesota nice doesn't just refer to the people, but too our vehicles as well.

This is one of my favorite videos! Seeing your uncle's house, plus knowing how much you love it there is great! Use it as a place to "get away from it all." It is Funny I found this Video, I just bought a 2001 same exact truck with a plow, Same rusty body, drove it 175 miles at 75 mph on Interstate 35 get it home to the farm and found 1 bolt barely holding the bed on. Great engine. Good Project truck!! Have fune

That new tree growing next to the house looks like it is a black walnut tree which are valuable trees. As for the truck it is still worth over double what you paid as parts. There's a good engine, transmission, transfer case, differentials, windshield, wheels, and the fuel. Personally I would suggest keeping that diesel transfer tank and if you do drive it back home, when you fuel up, fill that tank as well and you have an auxiliary tank to help get you farther between fuel stops

Hello Randy for the CB radio there is a fuseable link to the wiring the fuse might be blown check it out that might be the problem Why it don't work

Yup, I told you so. Plow trucks are worn out farm trucks, and 700 miles is suicidal. As a New Yorker I can again say plow trucks are driven once a year, they do not need to stop well if at all, the snow you drive on is your power steering, and ac is not needed in winter.

That truck is much better mechanically than what I drive. I wouldn't hesitant to drive it coast to coast. I have a 99 f350 with 700000 miles.

You might want to try to ratchet strap the bed to the frame to get it back to Oklahoma. Then, take out the engine and transmission and scrap the body.

Motor and trans are worth the cost. Coming from NY, I assume they put the $$ into ensuring the driveline was functional, as the body would rot off or get hit anyways.

I own one of these. They spin over a bit to start up those powerstrokes depend on oil pressure to start up. Ihave a 06 I bought at CoPart.

Randy, check the Steering Gearbox at the frame rail. Chances are the gear us worn and the frame is rusted/cracked

Please drive this home. It would be so much fun. Get a pack of wood screws, some timber too hold down the bed and drive it. The truck will work for you by shedding some weight on the drive to help with the fuel economy. Check the fuse for the CB. Cobra are a solid make.

Assuming that's the same 99-03 generation that my Excursion was, that recirculating ball steering setup leaves a lot to be desired on the best of days, and IIRC the front ball joints get frozen up and cause the steering to not auto center and makes the steering feel sloppy AF. PS Two appropriately placed ratchet straps (with duct tape to deal with floppy bits) has kept many a rusted out bed on a pickup for a short spell.
