I bought the Cheapest LHD Range Rover in the EU with 447 100 km - Part 1

Part 2 - • I bought the Cheapest ...
Buying the cheapest (but still running) left hand drive Range Rover L322 in the EU for 2 850 € is a very bad idea, unless you are aware of all the risks! I did it to show you what kind of a Range Rover is possible to buy with this little money and to show you how it looks like after 447 100 km.
Even buying a regular car with this high mileage is not always the best idea, but buying a Range Rover with this mileage is just madness - however I did it so you don't need to.
In the 1st part of this small video series you will see the exterior, the interior, the engine and most of the things which are broken or which are not working.
Do I have a lot of money to burn? Absolutely not. If I would have more money I would buy the newer 3.6 V8 version, but it is how it is.
"447 100 km - 277 815 mi is not that much for a regular diesel engine car with good reliability reputation, but for a regular Range Rover it really is high mileage and we all know why"

I've got a 2009 Lr3 HSE 4.4L V8 with about 150,000 miles and it's still running like a top. I've had to replace lower control arms, alternator, and a water pump. The original air ride still works but with every day I wonder if is gonna fail or not. Not looking forward too that day lol. I know I should get rid of her but it's such a love hate relationship. I know I'm flirting with danger but i love the truck.

Wow, interior oddly is quite nostalgic for me, having driven many e46, e39, e53. I guess the engine is horribly slow in this big car, but atleast the BMW 3.0d from that era is very reliable when maintained properly. One German guy managed to drive over million kms with an e39 530d, original engine and gearbox. End of life came as a result of crash, not engine or other techincal failure :)

I have a 2002 Range Rover which I bought 12 years ago with 230,000 km on the clock for 13,000 euros. Since then: new gearbox, front air suspension, turbo, fuel pump, wiper motor, handbrake assembly, discs all round, brake pipe, full anti rust treatment, total cost approx 17,000 Euros. Plus some bodywork. Who told you the BMW 3.0 TD6 wasn’t a good engine? It’s fine. Yes the newer 3.6 and 4.4 have more power but for a normal driver like me it’s fine. I make a 1200 mile trip across Europe twice a year and it cruises comfortably at 80-90 mph all the way. Yes, the gearbox is not the best but too many people believe Land Rover when they say it’s sealed for life. Nothing is sealed for life. Change the gearbox oil at least every 40,000 miles. Anyway it’s 3 years since you posted this so I’m curious to know, how did it work out?
@differentcarreview-dcr
@differentcarreview-dcr Жыл бұрын
The TD6 engine in these cars is indeed the most reliable and with regular maintenance it can last forever, however for a heavy car like this its simply not powerful enough. Of course for calm cruising its fine but for overtaking not so much. Yes with regular oil changes you can prolong the lifetime of the gearbox. I sold it a long time ago, the new owner replaced the gearbox and he continued to use the car.

As I recall the seats are really comfortable to travel in Hold & Repair? Thinking if you aren't too ocd about everything being perfect and working, I think it would make a good partially road runner (all essential bits work and it's safe). Think the RR killer for most people is that each breakdown is repaired at the dealer and there are so many breakdowns the cumulative costs kill the car. Doing it yourself possibly lends itself to buying another donor car and combining them, but then I think you would be under the car and not in front of the camera. If you can repair yourself and source parts close to trade price it might be viable, plus informative for us. You seem spoilt for choice with your creative resourceful nature, there are many other things you could also do to keep us watching. Await your future plans with interest.

I'm ocd in these things actually, but I was more in the past 😂 however recently I start to not give a damn about these details since it really is not worth it 😃 I was thinking about buying another one just for spare parts actually, and that would be financially the best decision, but finding another one for cheaper than this is extremely hard, of course in the UK they are cheap but I'm far from UK and the cost of shipping would be really high anyway

Brilliant video. Very funny. I have seen way better LHD Range Rovers for sale in the UK for about the same money. Your car would be way beyond economic repair in the UK.

Convert it to a barbecue set to put in your garden, if you can still find metal on it that's not rusted. Play a cassette of The voice of Europe and your neighbours will find it 'geweeeldig'. Can you make a third video of the three still working parts like some of the warning lights?

that is actually a good idea, I don't think anybody has a Range Rover barbecue in the garden :D but the warning lights actually work very well 😂

The saving grace of that car is the diesel engine. However if it is revealed at a later time that Range Rover manipulated their emission's software like Volkswagen did, then that detracts from the value of the diesel engine in this car. The thing about old cars like this is, you have to buy one that you like: that is your favorite color and has the features you want. Then you won't mind all the trouble fixing it. This car, however, is a wing-win situation because if someone doesn't fall in love with it and give it some Tender Loving Care = TLC, then it is worth more money by parting it out, thousands more! Every cloud has a silver lining!

Mars J I believe at the time this vehicle was built the emissions regulations were sufficiently lenient that manufacturers could easily achieve compliance without doing anything crazy. I have a 2003 diesel that doesn’t even have a DPF, let alone an SCR system.

For this price you can invest a little bit more in the technical parts like motor and gearbox/suspension and drive the car 3-4 years. But I don’t think you need to repair something in ex/interior.The car already started to rust. Btw GTA San Andreas sounds are funny 😆

I'm not working for Terraclean but I would do a Terraclean cleaning on gearbox, engine, cooling system, air intake. I'm about to do it on my car... It's not that old but still...
