I already have the water pulley issue at 50k miles. This engine is nothing but head aches. You didn't tell them about the actuator flaps in the ac tho. Gotta rip the whole dashboard out to fix it 😢

Both of those engines are Mercedes’ most common engines! If you don’t recommend either of them, maybe you should be presenting a Toyota instead! My experience, from watching/reading a lot of reviews, is that the 350 V6 is very reliable, but it is also true, replace the timing chain at the given service interval, or risk a BAD failure, that will destroy the engine.

Ive got a 2004 avant c5 1.9 tdi Its 20 yrs old Engine is bulletproof Only cosmetic issues from age Only issue is the last owner had a transmissom transfer oil pipe fitted in 2021 and twisted it on wrong causing it to have a kink in the pipe and not cool the transmisson oil properly and overtime burning thru the pipe and cracking it causing an oil leak - causing the auto transmission to slip the "gears". Currently getting this fixed but other than that it woukd be working fine if they fitted it correctly.

the plastic chain tensioner shoes can be purchased on a few sites, and just those changed. The plastic becomes brittle with age and heat cycles - then they crack/shatter and then you can have 40 valves bending on the pistons. can remove tensioner and pop off old shoes and pry on new shoes. Need a stubby torex 30 bit to crack loose the cam caps. the HARDER thing is re-sealing the valve covers to prevent leaks - overdo it with RTV on ends and bottom edges of cover.. also RTV the bolt rubber bushings -- this leak goes on to the exhaust manifold so you get to breathe the smoke- not good for your lungs.

Add to the oil leaks, upper oil pan! A major job, bigger than timing kit. Car has 311.000km and the leak is obvious, under tray all oily, plus some traces under the back of the car from wind while driving. Customer says car does not use oil so is reluctant to fix the leak.

Does the 2020 SQ5 TDI with Evo897 gen2/DEWB engine has any problems with reliability? It’s basically the 286 hp version with a remap from Audi. Have you heard for any issues with that engine? When should i change the engine oil(interval) for this engine?

I checked the timeline below and I don't seem to see the engine 5L-E haha but imma come back to this comment later on to see how it goes. even then 5L- E is a really reliable engine. Once went to somewhat a 1hour journey which is quite long in my country and somehow the coolant leak due to the cap cracked. The engine survived even without alot of coolant. it was running dry HAHAHA.

The water pump on the b series can either link on the pump itself or the bracket/carrier it is mounted on (gaskets that mount to the engine block). Which happens more often based on your research?

Can you just unplug the old unit on the car and plug in a second hand unit just to start and get you home as a temp fix or are these units coded to each individual car this if they are not coded is a good way to get you going and able to drive home to get the thing fixed properly this seems to be a common problem with the Audi i bought a second hand unit just in case mine went faulty but not tried fitting it i cut the wire to the steering lock motor so that doesn't work never concerned me no locking but just thinking that if these units not coded just plug the two wires and away you drive this gets you back on the road Great video straight talking

After owning my 159 2.4jtdm Q4 for 60K km and 4 years i can point out the following: 1. Propshaft bearings You cannot swap these, the service costs ~1600€ new shaft costs ~3000€ new. The bearing is welded in in the factory so it needs specialised shop to rebuild. 2. Very reliable car but! Many small things need fixing which might get annoying if you don't work on your own car and rely on a shop to do it. Prepare to change front suspecion components annually, boot gas struts, brake related service items, interior things like window regulator, rear wiper motor etc. Easy DIY but be prepared. And the Damm elastic alternator belt keeps making noice, challenging to change and needs chaning every year on my car... 3. Build quality If you like solid build quality this car might not be for you. Everything feels cheap and plasticky, nothing really works as smoothly as on say, German cars like: Rain senror, ESP, Folding mirrors, wipers, AC. They all work but if you are used to German quality it all feels cheap. 4. Not very impressed with the driving On slow speeds the car feels very heavy, heavy steering and the diesel spools up slowly. Gearbox feels notchy (6speed manual) and drivetrain clunks when you let off the clutch quickly. The car drives beautifully in higher speeds and this is great! but the road noise is high imo. The car over all impresses me with it's stylish design and reliability. Starts everytime (even in -40celcius) and runs with no issues.

Wow my Q7 runs rings around that one. No bubbling interior or exterior. No chips in paintwork anywhere no rust anywhere. My seats look like new. No stretching like that and yes it's S-line with Verano leather and Bose. Oh and it only has 136700 kms and one owner driver from new. No sunroof. Full towing package so extra large transmission coolers. No body flex or creaks. Inside of my original tail pipes are so clean you can wipe them with your finger and lick it. Yes they are really that clean. I do have slowly sinking front suspension one side. And I do have really clean swirl flap intake manifolds but yes I get the swirl flap limit exceeded fault and light. I paid 101400 euros for it new except I didn't. I sold shares in a bank that cost me 7500 to buy it... and then the bank went bust so I would have lost the money if I had not bought the car. I thought I had an ECU fail so I took it out and set it to ECU testing in the UK, turned out to be a fault in the throttle body. It was failing to detect its position during rotation but not showing any codes. (Magnetti Morelli replacement for the OE VDO which wore out its gears) It's been a joy to drive for 18 years and I don't know what to get next. For now I intend to fix my residual valve leak and maybe try those aftermarket limiters for the swirl flat actuators. Thanks for the video.

What is said at minute 11 is so true.... the transmission oil does not last forever. It should be flushed well before it reaches 300 000 kilometers. And then oil should be changed regularly

I recently (February) purchased a 1.2 TSI 105HP with (currently)120K km. And recently experienced excessive oil consumption. About 2 months ago, I received a message telling me to check the oil. It was then refilled with 1.5L oil. After one month and -/+1500km, the message popped up again. Now i am currently being assigned to a mechanic shop to get my engine rebuild/revised under warranty. If you’re interested, i’ll keep updating this comment.

@teanshin
@teanshin 8 күн бұрын
@@gentlemonster5357 So you have pre upgraded TSI version. Main faults to this engines are the piston rings are to small therefore oil overflow into combustion chamber and burns with fuel, also I think, cam chain is dipped in oil (thats the way its designed) and over time it disintegrates chains tensioner as they made of plastic compound, that may cause chain to expand, skip a gear on the pulley and the piston will meet with valve, but before that happen it will knock camshaft out of balance first. Rebuilt will help only if they swap to upgraded pistons. Im not sure if this will be covered by warranty as its bad design fault. My advise? Get rid of it asap.

I think this engine is much better than described. It consumes less fuel and is very efficient. You can get this power from bigger cc in other brands. I used it more than 100000 kilometers.. the parts need to be replaced with original equipment when the time comes.. ( espicially turbo orings, spark plug, v belt, pulley, block plug ..) I used castrol 5 30 m oil. Antifreeze must be Castrol radicool series. Also, an engine with known problems is better than surprises.. Although the B48 engine has the same power, it has much more fuel consumption.
