Since the $5000 V10 powered Ford Excursion deal fell through I've been on the hunt for another limousine to do hoodrat things in. Guess what, I found one. I bought the cheapest 6 door, 9 passenger Lincoln Towncar Limousine in the USA... and it's amazing.

Its a funeral limo, not a party limo lol. Funeral homes were the companies buying the 6 door limos when new, granny couldn't get in/out of a party limo with that J style seating and bar. Still gotta love something that loud/obnoxious that you could almost outrun on foot lol. Can't imagine how much of a dog it is with half its cylinders and another 2000lbs to drag around, they only had like 215hp stock.

You purchased a funeral limo. 6 door 3 row seating to haul the family. There's a place in Elmwood, Ohio that sells them. Also sells the funeral coaches too. Those stacks are wild man.

I've been a limo driver for 20 years who used to drive these exact cars they were absolutely Beauties to Drive. Lincoln Town Cars were the workhorses of the industry and their trunks are legendary, you could put any size golf clubs or Luggage in them and they would all fit. Also the suspensions were awesome on these things. And we had some that got up close to 400,000 miles

That's a great vehicle you got there. Give it a fresh coat of paint, maybe do a little work on the engine, tidy it up a little, and she'll probably sell for quite a bit. I personally would remove the smoke stack exhaust cause it really doesn't look well with the vehicle type.

If the coolant sensor is anything like my other 90's ford products, there's 2 different parts, one for the engine comp and one for the gauge. They are very similar and will accept each others plugs, but the tip that reads the coolant is a little different for each. most part stores don't differentiate which is which either. Do a little reasearch on where both are on the town car, and make sure the one you replaced has the right one in it, chances are its for the comp temp sensor.

Yup Chevy 350 had same thing two temp sensors. One for ECM and the other just for the gauge.

I've often wondered, why don't people consider these as a viable option for vanlife? Yes, you're not really going to be able to stand up much, but can you in a regular top van? If you're tall, no. Stealth? probably not much...... Imagine taking the rear seats out and making a bed and some kind of cabinets

I want to find an old hearse and turn it into a gun car. I shoot a lot, pulling up to the range and unloading a bunch of guns from a purpose built custom hearse would be a hoot. Rolling trays for guns, bins for ammo, a work bench for repairing/tinkering.

ok so its overheating and its going into "tow home" mode where half the cylinders shut down. i had this in my 1998 ford fairmont when the raidiator burst a hose and i drove home from work (to my mechanic) on 4 or 2 cylinders - still drove and didnt kill the engine.

LMAO! That stop light drag race was epic! Very likely you just have a bad coil pack, it has one for each bank on those 4.6’s. I daily drive a 1990 Town Car but that has the 5.0 engine & then I have a project ‘94 Town Car but I have a 351W in it, I had a ‘91 for a while as well, I love Town Cars. I once packed the complete powertrain for a 240SX in the trunk of my Town Car, complete engine, trans, diff, axle shafts etc, all in the trunk, I also used it to tow home 8 other projects including my 4,200lbs ‘53 Buick, I towed that 80miles home on a tow dolly up some pretty big hills.

Those coil packs do alternating cylinders on both banks so I'm not so sure it's that

momofone28 Yes I get that, likely that is still the issue, there aren’t many other things that are gonna fail like that... Listening to the exhaust from the driver’s seat is not exactly an accurate method for diagnosing misfires lol.

I use to own a 95 Lincoln town car. I loved that car till some ass hole drifted in to my lane and hit me head on. I drove my Lincoln home the Honda that hit me was a total. Luckily no one got hurt except the car I loved. I bought it with just a 100K on it and it had almost 200K when it got wrecked. The insurance totaled my car and paid me more money than I paid for the car 10 years before. I use to say I could smuggle 12 Mexicans across the border in the trunk of that car. I went on and bought a 03 Lincoln TC and like it but It's not the same as the 95 I had. Miss that car.

OMG those stacks are horrible. 97 is my favorite year Town Cartho, and six-doors tend to be less pimped-out which is nice. Usually the middle row flips so it can be rear-facing. Does yours do that? Fun video.

There are two coolant sensor on these engine one for the ECM and one for the gauge on the dash, is it possible you changed the wrong one.

If you look on the right trunk arm that white sticker is the door code to use the keyless entry put in the code on the keypad on the drivers door and if you press #5 after your door code your trunk will open and if you press# 3 all the door will unlock and to lock all doors press the last two buttons at the same time

Sweet i have had 3 towncars 96, got it foe 1500 sold it 5 years after for 1800 97 got for 200 sold it for 2000 and curently driving a 2011 executive l i got for 3500 and is the 2nd hightest mileage car on thy lyft platform in all 50 states with 498.668.0 miles on the original build The # spot gos to another towncar that has over 680.000.0 plus

We owned the 97 town car Cartier series. It replaced the 95 town car executive series. What a dream to drive, quiet and roomy. Replaced it with the 2000 town car Cartier. The 2000 sucked, both in looks and comfort. Switched to Cadillacs after that. The 2000 is still in the garage, I guess because it's still ok to use once in while. Wish I had got my hands on the Town Car "L." Put it off too long and now can't find one without 300000k on it. Bring back the REAL town car!

Sometimes a cop sees something that they just know would turn into a debacle. Just think about calling for a tow truck. The tow guy knows that they’re not getting paid for this POS and no way they’d want to drag that long turd and tie up 3 parking spots in their yard. And the cop’s got not enough paper for the tickets
