I Bought The Cheapest Sony Ericsson W950i On eBay | Lets Take A Look! (2023)

I found this rare Sony Ericsson W950i off eBay for a total of $35 making it possibly one of the cheapest W950's on eBay. The W950i is a media focused version of the more business oriented Sony Ericsson M600i from 2006. It shares many similarities with the M600i such as the Symbian UIQ operating system, lack of a camera, display, form factor, design and many more.
The Sony Ericsson M600i was released in 2006 and ran the Symbian UIQ 3 platform which is based on Symbian OS 9.1. A lot of people think that only Nokia used Symbian however, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and some other manufactures did too. Its a business oriented phone with a stylus and a unique design but also lacks camera's as it was focused towards job sites or businesses where camera's are not permitted. Since its a business phone it has a very long battery life, customized Symbian OS, Stylus, full control with physical buttons and also the resistive touchscreen to go with it. It is also loaded with document editors and document readers and other email applications needed for business use. It also has a navigation scroll wheel and a physical back button. It also has a QWERTY keyboard which looks a lot like they keyboard on the unreleased Prototype Sony Ericsson P5i Paris..it also has a Philips Nexperia processor like the Paris. The Sony Ericsson W950i is a more media focused Walkman phone which shares many of the specs and design aspects from the M600i. It also runs Symbian UIQ, has the same processor, the same display, same form factor, scroll wheel and back button, identical design but was considerably more rare and expensive. Differences include a more powerful speaker, recessed keyboard with a traditional triple press selection as opposed to the M600i's unusual double press keyboard. It also had a whopping 4gb of internal storage which was huge for 2006 and did not have a M2 expansion slot like the M600i did. Being a Sony Ericsson Walkman phone, it had the aesthetics and quirks of a music oriented device and had many software differences as well.
It is definitely a great addition to my collection and I will be doing a full retro style review on it and also using the Sony Ericsson W950i in 2023, Using Sony Ericsson W950i in 2023, Sony Ericsson W950i 2023 or Sony Ericsson Symbian 2023, Symbian UIQ in 2023 so stay tuned by subscribing!
These are considered rare phones or collectible phones and I am keeping them in my phone collection since they are considered as a vintage phones or retro phones.
My collection also includes Nokia Prototypes, Blackberry Prototypes, Motorola Prototypes, Sony Ericsson prototypes, Sony Prototypes, HTC Prototypes, Rare Nokia and other rare developer devices! These phones are no Android 13 or Android 14 powerhouses and It also ain't no iPhone 15 Pro Max, Google Pixel 7, Google Pixel 8a Lumia 950Xl, Lumia 1520, Lumia 1020, Google Pixel 8 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, Motorola Edge S or OnePlus 11 Pro but are definitely interesting phones on their own!

I bought this back in the day and it's still in my drawer. I remember I bought it because I thought it's cool not to have a camera built in. After I used it for 2 years or so, I remember the keypad started to became not flat any more but over all design is still really cool.

I was going to get this phone way back then but I got told about how slow and laggy the OS was so I backed off. Down the line I bought a W902 and then a W995. The latter was by far the Pinnacle of Walkman phones.

Hey, as for the hieroglyphs in the music player, that is a common problem in phones and mp3 players of this era, its caused by Cyrillic laters in songs titles.

7:44 The official language of Latvia is Latvian and Russian because of how Latvia was part of the Soviet Union, so that's why the phone is in Russian when the phone came from Latvia. Anyway I love your videos and thats why I subscribed to your channel, hope you do well in your career!

Little correction here. The only official language in Latvia is Latvian language. Russian in not official language in Latvia.

I had the W900i (the swivel phone) and it was better than this, it half a gig of internal storage which was huge for the time it also recorded videos at 30fps so it looked really smooth, although i always really liked the minimalist look of the w950
