READ ALL ::It is a seine funnel net,, the winged ends meant to be spread across an entire canal/waterway,, with the current running towards the opening,, the fish smell the bait & heads toward it,, Then the current gently forces them into the collection tube/net..They actually work incredibly well when used correctly...It can also be used as a true seine net,, just zip tie a broomstick to the end of each wing end,, have a person on both ends holding the broomstick,, .asking sure to keep the net dragging across the bottom/sand,, Then at the same time you both drag the net forward heading for the very end of the canal/waterway,, forcing/corraling all the fish into the collection tube.

Make sure you tie off the end that you were trying to crawl in. Otherwise the fish will just swim out.

The "wings" don't need to be spread that wide apart. You would be able to use that trap in a narrow creek. Just tie the end of each wing to a tree on the bank and let the trap go downstream. In Florida you'd catch all sorts of exotic stuff like cichlids, plecos, and much more. You could also use it behind your boat in the ocean. Just tie the ends of the wings to outriggers and let it out behind the boat.
@richardblackburn1089
@richardblackburn1089 6 ай бұрын
I agree with all except the outriggers part, I would only attached to the outriggers if the boat was stationary, I highly doubt it's capable of being towed.

You REALLY need to set that up and see what you can get! Try it in fresh and then saltwater. Good for many new videos! It'd also be great to catch freshwater turtles!

Love your video! I think it is so funny when I hear southerners say they are freezing in 72' weather! 😂 I wish it was 72' up here! That is the perfect summer weather here in CT! It is currently around 27' up here! I do know how it feels though living in the south. I used to live there when I was a lot younger. When your body adjusts to the heat, you feel cold a lot faster. But it still sounds so funny to me. 😅 Great video still. 😊❤❤❤

It’s used in high current waterways. There is a documentary of villages using this type of netting in fast moving rivers to capture fish for their families and to sell in the local markets.

46 in Philly. That trap would be good for just collecting fish in an outflow area, not baited and such. That's what that big open mouth is for.

As someone else already mentioned it is a seine. Pronounced sane. Usually at least one person on each end then you go out into the water and slowly walk it into shore while curving the ends to keep them from escaping. The chain is to keep it on the bottom so they can’t swim under it and the bouys are to keep the top of the net at the surface so they don’t swim over it. The only thing I am not familiar with on it is the fact that it has a tunnel. I haven’t watched to the end maybe there is an explanation.

if you had a boom on your boat it would work. you mount it on your boom and tow it for X "till full" then pull it on the boat and untie the end to get the fish out. I see that kind of trap all the time, only bigger.

You so got to do a 24 hour set with that. You also need to make some bait bags for your traps so you actually attract fish the entire time. Insted of it doing nothing after an hour or two all yourbaits gone. You can just get a cheep pair of ladys stocking at Dollar tree and stuff them with chum. Then just take everything and put it all in the big pond. Think of it as a going away dinner for pots and pans.

I have a few OTF knives micro tech and Axial shift. If it gets dirty or gummed up, hit it with an air compressor down into the mechanical parts then spray gun lube on in side it and open and close it a few times then hit the air on it again to clean excess oil. Works great keeps it going forever.
