Have you ever purchased a Pokemon Card Collection? What are some of the things you consider when purchasing Pokemon Cards? Obviously a lot of thought goes into large purchases of this nature. Deciding the best places to sell Pokemon Cards and determining the best way to sell them can really make you think. Grading Pokemon Cards and checking over conditions can take a long amount of time resulting in labor that also impacts the purchase price.
In today's video, we discuss the different factors that one must consider prior to a big Pokemon Collection purchase. We also go over a recent collection of Pokemon Cards that we just took in, and talk over the different mindsets when it comes to sorting through the Pokemon Card Collection. I'm just an amateur seller right now and nowhere near your level, but picking up a mixed lot and pricing everything out is by far my favorite aspect of this hobby. You 100% correct about the fee issue. It makes it so hard for someone who mostly relies on 3rd party marketplaces to acquire inventory for a reasonable price. Its still super fun and rewarding though! Thanks for the video Danny. This collection was an awesome pick up!

I sold my entire Pokemon card collection (which was pretty huge and had holo cards from gen 1-3 including Ex and shining cards) back when I was like 14 at a yard sale for like $30 and I regret it so much now. The whole collection probably would have been worth upwards of $10k now and I'm poor so I'll never be able to replace it.

The older larger jumbos are A5 size and you can find a A5 sleeved binder pretty cheaply

That was an incredibly impressive collection. Hope the seller is in a good financial place now for selling it off. I can only imagine how difficult that must've been. I hope the deal works out for you too, Danny. That must've cost you a small fortune to pick up. Lots of high demand cards in the bunch. I think a good chunk of it will be off your hands in no time.

I can’t imagine needing to sell my collection outright like that… I’d get a booth at a card show first, and I don’t even have heaters like this person did. It would take me days to organize and condition check all of these cards! 😳

The first cards I got when getting back into the hobby was a guys collection from sun and moon. I finally got into grading cards this year and some came back 10’s! Definitely keeping some cards forever because of the story.

I hold onto jumbo cards but they just live in a pile in my cabinet. A binder and sleeves for them would go a long way in making them desirable among collectors.

Definitely condition is a concern with buying collections. I bought a small collection for $175. But I trusted the guy and all the cards were pulled and immediately sleeved and placed into a binder.

NO, I cannot ever buy back my 1st Ed sealed booster boxes. The memories and the money is gone... 😢😢 But like you, I would do it againto fix the medical condition they were sold for.

That’s crazy to see all those higher end cards just sleeved in those boxes … I would have expected them to all be in top loaders during shipping?

That's what I thought at first but then realized the seller probably had them in binders so buying top loaders and inserting all of them would have been expensive and time consuming. On top of that Danny probably didn't want everything in top loaders as that makes it even more time consuming to take everything out to look at and condition.

Late last year or it was very early this year I bought my friend's fiance childhood collection. Not big at all. It had a Team Rocket theme deck and all the cards that came with it. He had a little bit of randomness of cards that I bought. And then he also had the pre-order holo coin for pre-ordering Pokemon ruby for the game boy advance. And lastly, he had just enough cards of a Team Rocket first edition pack. That was the best part. Was just reconstructing putting those cards back together and And imagining these were what he pulled opening that pack. It was a holographic Dark Dugtrio for the hit

HGAs grading was not very consistent so no good rule for converting over to PSA, would recommend just looking them over like you would if raw. But I will say for PC the slabs themselves were nicer than PSA/BGS/CGC. Heft of the BGS slabs but nice rounded corners.

I have a lot of cards just chilling in binders but my main collection is all in one top loader binder. I keep a list on tcg of the cards in that binder and a 2nd list of cards that I want.

Never had to sell my cards except for growing out of them as a kid. Idr having anything rare tho, part of why i grew out of it. My current collection I may sell most of it off when my boys are 21 and we can do a vegas trip or something

I never understood grading to protect a card. Surely the card is much safer and well protected when double sleeved in a good binder then mailing it to a grading company where some "expert" on minimum wage is spending 1 minute putting it into a plastic container before mailing it back... In my opinion the only reason to grade a card is to sell if for more. Even if you want it as a display you can buy your own like custom display that looks much better then any grading company and it will both look better and be more protected. Grading is the biggest myth in the hobby

My question is, I have a full art, Perrin, that tcg says $75.00, my local card shop is offering $40. something, would you take that offer or not? Please advise if you can. Thanks

I personally wouldn’t. While I do think it might fall a bit in price, I still think it’s a high end modern card that is fairly easy to move. Ideally I think $50-$55 would be fair

I paid $10 back in 2005 for some dude's Pokemon collection. He got into meth and his mom kicked him out and sold all his stuff in a yard sale and put all his cards in a 55 inch tv box and it was like half full. I know there are a few hits in there but it's nice to have some 1st edition cards, especially when I KNOW we could not afford to buy cards everyday when I was a kid.
