Here is my EGO 56V electric two-stage snowblower in action! I bought this recently and have used it a few times and I have been extremely impressed with it.
This is not a paid review, I have no affiliation with the EGO company and did not receive any discount to buy it. I believe the batteries it came with are 7.5 Ah (it came with two). Cost for the whole thing was about $1,800 Canadian. It’s model number SNT2405.
It really outperforms my previous SnowJoe 80V snowblower by a wide margin. I like that the EGO lets you dial up or down the power of the auger. It seems pretty much equivalent or better than a comparable gas snowblower in terms of performance, it's certainly better when it comes to fuelling it and storing it for summer!

This might be the first time i've seen someone capture a sheer pin breaking during use. I really like that feature to protect the machine from more serious damage. That was some beautiful snow and great video quality. Where I come from blowing snow, leaves or grass clippings into the road isn't just illigal but dangerious. Just imagine that your machine throws an object at a vehicle or simply blocks the view of the driver. Food for thought and I do apprecaite your video. Take care and happy new year!

Thanks, the shear pin breaking was definitely unexpected. I always stop throwing snow if a vehicle or person is nearby. You may notice some "cuts" in the footage where I wait for people or drivers to pass. I am very careful. I don't believe it's illegal where I am due to the zoning.

Yeah well I broke my gear box! Neither shear pin popped, but the unit just died. They just delivered (via heavy freight) a new replacement unit. Support was difficult but not impossible to deal with, just lots of delays and slow phone support. Can't email them either, ONLY phone. Hopefully this one is better. I can't find anything jammed in the auger that would have caused this either. Very neat seeing the sheer pin pop like that!

Why are you blowing into the street?! Turn your speeds way down, aim your chute down and drop the snow right at the curb.......running it in high speed all the time will just chew up your batteries
@InternetDude

I probably should have shortened the throw distance. I don’t have anywhere to put the snow unless it’s against the building here which could cause basement flooding so it goes to the street. The city plowed the street the next day anyway.

I can’t believe you uploaded a video of such an irresponsible act as blowing snow in the street. This endangers the public as a traffic hazard. Illegal in many states and immoral everywhere. You know what is worse than “basement flooding?” Blunt force trauma from a vehicle collision.
@InternetDude
@InternetDude 2 жыл бұрын
If you notice the breaks in the video, I stop blowing the snow if a vehicle is coming so there are zero safety concerns. In the future I will try to put the snow right beside the sidewalk by the curb.

BULLSHIT! I had a sidewalk on my front yard and was required by the town to clear it. The town snowplow would clear the street and throw the snow back on the sidewalk, so I had to clear it again. Sometimes they did this a half dozen times per storm. I had a few 'confrontations' with the driver, but he would never get out of the truck so I could beat him senseless!
@thomasjsmith1
@thomasjsmith1 2 жыл бұрын
@@johnberger5539 So the sidewalk was in your front yard? So the street on one side and the yard on the other? Your ONLY option was to throw the sidewalk snow back on the street versus in the yard to avoid hazardous roadway conditions and endanger lives? Now that’s the real BS!

You may have convinced me to consider this unit if I ever find myself in the market for a blower. I sometimes weld stuff in or around my garage, and so, I have started to get rid of my gasoline containers and ICE yard equipment for safety reasons. So far my non-propelled electric mower has churned out 8 troublefree years of use, and it's time now to give e-blowers a chance. Thank you.

This is my third electric snowblower and it is hands down the best out of them all. I am extremely impressed with the power and capability of this EGO 56V two-stage snowblower, especially compared to my last Snow Joe model. I have a playlist showing my other electric snowblowers if you are interested. I also have an electric lawnmower and do prefer electric for as many things as possible. However, I have gone from an full electric car back to hybrid due to charging limitations mainly.

gas snowblowers didn't always have tha feature that locks the auger and drive controls together so you could manually crank the shoot with both auger and drive wheel engaged. That's not really a big deal to me but some probably find it useful.
@johnberger5539
@johnberger5539 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can! After the auger is engaged and the traction drive, the auger will continue to run as long as the traction drive is not released which leaves your right hand free to change the chute direction while both the auger and traction drive are operating simultaneously.

I just broke mine, too, except it's not a sheer pin. I believe I ejected a small rock and the machine shut off. Now when I try to actuate the auger control I just get a click. Pretty frustrating. Can't find any sign of a jammed mechanism.
@InternetDude
@InternetDude 2 жыл бұрын
I doubt ejecting a small rock would cause the machine to fail, if you listen after I fixed the shear pin you can hear me spitting out some rocks through the snowblower. Do you still have warranty? If yes it might be worth contacting the company for support.
@shinyobsessed1271
@shinyobsessed1271 2 жыл бұрын
@@InternetDude Yeah, I found it doubtful, too, but I can't think of any other explanation. When I press the start button and actuate the auger lever, it makes a little noise down by the motor like it wants to start then changes it's mind. After cleaning out the ejector area I did see where a rock could possibly fit behind it and jam things up, but I'd have to disassemble that to see. No warranty, as I won the snowblower in a random drawing on a KZfaq channel. So a mix of the good and the bad, lol
