I Broke My Windshield 🤬

Oh this was a bad day!! I was attempting to remove the stock inside rearview mirror from my 2003 Ford F150 and the windshield broke in a spectacular way.
Instead of just using a plain old screw on the mirror base they use clips that use spring pressure and little tabs to hold the mirror to the windshield. If they used a screw I could have simply unscrewed and removed the rear view mirror but instead I was using a pry tool and trying to pry at the little tabs that I could not see.
The whole mirror with the little tab that normally sits on the windshield broke right off and a chunk of glass broke out of the inside layer of the windshield. I was very surprised and I thought the tab would have broken off and not the glass.
Lesson learned here folks. Maybe use the right tool next time and be more careful. I'm quite sure I will have to replace the entire windshield to fix the issue. If I can just re-attach the mirror or broken glass shard, perhaps glue it back on I will update you in the comments below.

Whoops, so far I've always managed to avoid breaking the windshield when doing rearview mirror work. At least you have a nice heated garage to work in, working outside in Saskatchewan can be a bone chilling experience to say the least. Fortunately for me all I've had to do so far this winter in a throttle body remove and replace (pushed a little to much snow one day and ended up with snow-water shorting out the throttle position sensor and one oil change.

I don’t recall...? I still have the P100D I just don’t promote Tesla in any way on the channel anymore. I will probably sell the car soon too.

Just too many repairs and too many missed timelines for supercharger expansion, FSD, etc. I need a break from the company even though I’m ready to buy another vehicle. Probably going to be a RAV4 Prime. Toyota is sooo much more reliable and easy local service.

Tesla is still for a multi- households, great in concept but tough to rely on for everyday transportation especially in rural settings and the service depots being a 14-16 hour round trip... I see they finally have superchargers at the Co-op fuel station in Davidson. Brother-in-law looked at them for a bit but got a Fusion plugin Hybrid when he had to replace his Altima Hybrid in the summer of 2020.
