I actually kinda like the arch viaduct being included. The 8 inch track at the bottom acting as the bridge Toby crosses is very clever

I’m absolutely loving your custom set series. Learning curve really should have made more sets based on the action packed season 5 episodes. I think what would have been really neat is if instead of just a piece of straight track you have to manually detach from the set, that piece was something like Thomas’ raft from the Thomas at Sea pack. That way you really can have the track wash away just by pushing it when Toby gets on. I think it would also be great if Toby’s raft had a magnet on it, so Harold, the version with magnet and string, could tow Toby around.

It would have always have been possible for them to design an exclusive item for a set, maybe in this case a unique bridge and maybe a roadway bridge for the Bye George set. The plain bridge at least serves as a good placeholder.

Wow, there's a lot of food for thought. Personally, I would have used two sets of slope track, with one set on either end of a straight track to bridge the gap so you can make a sizable length of track just float away, as well as giving it a sort of rickety, unsound appearance since it dips at the ends (which also distinguishes it as something other than an ordinary length of track). Then I would have just use the arch stone bridge as the focus so kids can just knock the top off of it. Then I would have turned the layout into a figure 8 with a crossing piece or switches, with the second loop running parallel to the "river" for a short distance and having a station and the water mill on either side of that length to represent the town for whose safety Toby fears at the start of the episode. Maybe add a barrel loader to the town to give it a sense that there are actual people in there, people who the engines would work with and be concerned for the safety of, while also adding some more interest to the layout without standing out like an industrial crane. Then again, I haven't studied what is and isn't feasible for a wooden railway set, and you've pointed out how much you're already stretching the envelope, so maybe this wouldn't be realistic? I like the idea, though. My favorite of your sets so far has to be the one for Bowled Out. I immediately thought "Bertie's BRIDGE!!!" when I saw the arch stone bridge, and it was a great take on the figure-8 loop set.

I like this custom set. It would’ve probably released around 2000 and would include a sampler DVD containing the episode. The episode would be ripped from Races, Rescues & Runaways.

Honestly I think of that waterfall set from Mattel as something for Toby and the flood
