I think this build + the two new kits would really compliment a hotel expansion pack... imagine a france inspired world with a more city part that gives paris and a beach area that gives French riviera? Where you could live and operate a hotel, restaurant, cafe, all on one lot or travel to for vacation

they should’ve done the rewards achievement style like “have a child 100 times” or smth. stuff that would still reward people who play a lot, but it doesn’t limit the rewards to such a tight timeframe

The balconies are "Juliette" balconies, and theyre totally a thing. Theyre not intended to be stood on; they're more of a safety feature for an open floor-to-ceiling window. Very European!

If only we could use the rent pack to make it a community lot on the bottom and then have a rental on top.

Ok so I know you are saying that you can’t combine apartments with working businesses but if you want to run a business at the bottom of an apartment building it can be done. You can make a working restaurant with home chef hustle or a nail salon using spa day pretty easily, just make sure the business portion of the building is in shared not individual apartment space and people will come right in if your business is based around a sales table.

Tip from a European - over here (in the UK at least, not sure about the mainland) when there's an exterior fire escape, there's usually stairs down to what Americans would call the 2nd floor, then a ladder from there down to the ground which is essentially spring loaded so it rolls up away from the ground when there's no weight pulling it down to prevent people climbing up them to break in

Whenever I make a restaurant, having a living quarters for the owner is always a MUST. Going back and forth between the restaurant and your home lot wastes so much time with loading screens. I know that you’re able to let the restaurant run by itself while you’re at home, but those employees cannot be trusted alone. Also remember to lock the employees out of the living quarters.

I don't usually dig kits, but something about this I love dearly and it makes me want it. It'd be amazing to use with Dine Out if you can tolerate that.

I want to see a castle- inspired build using the riveria retreat kit! So many of those items would work so well with the castle kit 🙏🙏🙏

Re Login Rewards - as someone who is disabled and can't use a computer when I would want to I will definitely miss out on rewards- as someone who has been playing the Sims since the original game released and has invested a LOT of money into the game the login rewards feel inaccessible and gate keeper-ish.

I think that the unlockable content should be achievements for play time! (ex. Play for 10hrs and unlock this item) That way they can reward people who play but new players could eventually “catch up” while the Sims team can just keep adding so long time players can keep earning

I really hope they implement mixed use buildings. That would be great. I would love to have a cafe and bar with rentals up above.

Speaking of finding reward events early I was randomizing traits for a sim earlier and ended up with the new Practice Makes Perfect trait lol

600k this year, wow, next year will probably easily be around 800k or 900k, maybe even 1m. It's so amazing what we all can achieve together 🥺 And gosh, I was so worried missing out on the rewards, but luckily not, I love how I always only can find news about the sims from Kayla, I searched all day yesterday, and didn't figure out what would happen for me since I still don't have it yet 😭

I would love to see Kayla build a swanky hotel lobby or something with the 2 new kits! Like a nice hotel bar, big lobby (I think you mentioned that the new bistro tiles remind you of a lobby), and a pool or garden area outside with the Riviera pack I don't play a lot of Sims (just random building with base game stuff, and I don't own any packs), but I am SO tempted to buy the bistro kit now. I realized the reason is that I've always daydreamed of owning a cute little cafe and customizing the menu and the decor of it haha

Anyone else think that the half curtains should go on the bottom half of the window like how they are in restaurants in old movies? The characters could always be seen walking past the restaurant looking in over the top curtain to see the person they were meeting when they couldn’t see them… like an old jimmy stewart movie

I think the tile floor in is bistro kit pairs really well with some of the tile wall papers from For Rent. You can see an example when Kayla is decorating the restaurant kitchen.

I took the Maxis build and added more to it! I added to the top, empty floor a book nook room and a seance room because for some reason that felt right, haha. I also added a bunch of items from the Romance Garden stuff pack to the outside eating area, and then a cellar with a nectar rack room and a nectar making room, because that felt right too, haha

This restaurant reminds of little bars that are hole in the wall restaurants in New York and Boston. Like I’ve definitely been to something like this in the city. I love it

In addition to folks missing out because they can't log in for various reasons, it also disincentivizes new players. As somebody who only got into the sims in the past 6 months or so, I can imagine how disappointed I'd be if it was a few months from now instead and I learned about all these free items I'd never get a chance to get. It's a bummer to have missed out on some of the free packs, but at least I can buy those if I really want them.

I found out something about the new bistro kit and I’m not sure if anyone else knows about it. It’s more of an accident find, but if you put the bar against the wall like in a normal house you get the option to make cafe type drinks and snacks. I tried it with other bars and those options don’t pop up. So you can in fact make coffee at the bar

I think the bistro kit also goes well with packs like vintage glamour. Theres a few others that have the vintage inspired decor as well.

I hadn’t been playing all semester so I’m kinda loving that there is so much coming through free even if it’s limited time. I’d be pretty bummed if it happened during the semester, but this has definitely redirected some time I would have been doing other stuff in my downtime.

I love it!! As a french gal living in Paris I'm kinda amused by the balcony part, this is the most realistic you could do with what we have in game to recreate these looong balconies hausmann builds have in the majority of the city. We would actually need to build with a half-tile but we all know it isnt possible... I might need to buy the bistrot kit cause I'm amazed how beautiful everything is. And this dark green is perfection!

it would be so much fun if this could actually be a duel-functioning lot in the game. landlording one apartment, living in the other, and then owning and operating the two businesses downstairs. that type of gameplay would be so incredibly addictive to juggle. i wish the sims team would work on implementing multipurpose lots and expansion pack feature compatibility.

They should do the log-in free stuff on a rolling basis. As in it doesn't matter when you log-in but the first log in is one item, the second log in the next item, third the third item and so on. this way there is no pressure to log in everyday and people can still receive all the unlockable items

I love when you build community lots especially coffee shops or library vibe shops.

I like the idea of having all those free rewards being available afterwards for a small price, like maybe kit-priced

I totally agree with you about the whole limited time rewards thing. At first I was like really sad I couldn’t get into them because my xbox has been broken for like 3 weeks now and I haven’t been able to log in and ive been really busy working too so its nice to hear the timer doesn’t start until I open my game again.

I love watching unrestricted pack builds. I wish Simstubers didn’t feel like they needed to apologize for using a bunch of packs in their builds. especially when they make several base game only builds as well. They bought the packs, they should be able to use them.

i feel like also with the timed login reward system being rolled out slowly also serves to make it more inaccessible like i hear news about limited time things (free packs etc) from sim influencers so like if my game starts the log in week on a random day i’d be less likely to go and check versus if it started like on the first of june for everyone and people knew to start logging in daily on that date

For anyone wondering, the little curtains are cafe curtains and they’re meant to go on the lower half of the window. Idk if they snap into the lower half like they do the top, but if you’re able to move them lower and want to use them, that is where they go.

I changed my dancing hobbies so much in the last years but I always did it. Started with ballet, then cheerleading, after that ballroom dancing (my one and only love and forever) and now it's HipHop or partying

i just finished watching the review of both kits, perfect timing:)

Concerning the new events, yesterday I got the new trait which apparently has something to do with learning things faster. I aged up a toddler and she got this new purple/violet coloured trait. It works. She now a teenager and has learned how to cook she's on level three just from using the stand mixer. I think she's on level 3 maybe she's close to level 3.

The daily rewards still haven't showed up for me yet, but I love how you used them in this build!

Your Sim can have their as their restaurant business and live in the apartments. I always make an apartment for my sims above their restaurants so they can fill their needs and not go home at the end of the night if they don't want to. I also have my sim's kids come over right after school so they can use the apartment too.

I just watched a new episode of a show I really like and it was very sad so this lifted my spirit.

Its so funny too because just before these kits came out, I literally built a bar/coffee shop, where there was a bar downstairs and a cafe upstairs, and it just makes me think I had some good intuition on the cozy bistro kit.

Because the houses in Europe in big cities are much smaller most of us don’t have gardens. The small balconies we use mostly to get some fresh air in. Open the big windows and eat in front of it to kind of get the feeling that we are outside haha

Personally, I think theyve got a lot of nerve pushing a Bistro making kit when they know your Bistro wont work properly bc the dine out system is broken af ...but thats just me.

first of all, love the build, love the multi lot functionality, gorgeous, all the vibes. however, I really need to rant about these curtains. the new curtains that came with the pack are quite small, which is because they are meant to be placed on the BOTTOM of the window, NOT the top! there's other similar curtains in packs like cottage living or parenthood and I've heard so many people call them useless becase they think that they're too small to be put on the top of the window, but that is not where they go!! they are meant to go on the bottom of the window and act as a privacy curtain, where people can't see inside as much but you can still see out. I always think of them as grandma curtains cos my grandma had them, and she had them mainly on her kitchen window for this exact purpose. they still let in light, you could still see out (if you were standing up) but from street level people couldn't really see what was going on inside. that's what they're for. so please consider this next time you encounter a curtain like this. or just pretend you can extend it from the top I guess, I'm not your mum. okay, class dismissed.

Hopefully we will get the ability to have lots with more capabilities. So that you can give different rooms or floor different designations (like separating apartments in a building). We could build malls! Or just shopping streets in general.
