I built a worship pedalboard in the Neural DSP Quad Cortex and I'm honestly blown away! After years of spending countless hours dialing in the worship tone sweet spots in my pedalboard rig, I've now created a preset in the Quad Cortex that sounds as good as my pedalboard and tube amp rig. But that's enough of me talking, you have to take a listen for yourself.
In this video, I'm peeling back the curtain on how I was able to re-create my go-to pedals sounds from the: Deep Six, Klon Centaur, Belle Starr, Moonshine, Mobius, Timeline, BigSky, and Immix Eleven VS15 all inside of the Quad Cortex. I'll take you through the process of dialing in and neural capturing your tube amp in the Quad Cortex; how I utilized parametric EQ to match EQ the amps in the Quad Cortex with my real tube amp. This was game changing-
Next, we'll take a deep dive into the 3 stages of overdrive fx I used. Including my approach to dialing in overdrive sounds for worship, and the process of utilizing neural capture on my go-to drive pedals to get those tones into the Quad Cortex.
Finally, I'll take you through my process of re-creating the unrecreatable: Strymon Mobius, Timeline, and BigSky. In truth, the modulation effects on the Quad Cortex are pretty top notch. But I hadn't quite gotten the delays and reverbs to be as expansive... until now. I think I stumbled upon something here that makes the internal delays and reverbs compete with the Timeline Tape and BigSky Cloud settings. Wave good-bye to lugging your massive worship pedalboard to church... I kid. But in actuality, this Quad Cortex setting sounds really dang good. I can barely tell the difference when I'm being critical. I definitely wouldn't be able to tell the difference live. Whether you are looking to use the Quad Cortex on its own, or you've built a pedalboard with the Quad Cortex in it, this preset can easily integrate into your workflow and get you some of those legendary worship tones we all love.
Be sure to grab a copy of my Quad Cortex preset through the link to my Etsy store, like the video, share it with a fellow Quad Cortex user, and subscribe to the channel, if you haven't already-

So many of you commented on my Pedalboard preset that you were using it for worship, SO I went back and built a complete Worship Rig in the QC based on the sounds from my pedalboard and amp. Whether you use it for worship or not... This preset sounds pretty epic. You can grab it through the link in the description- Thanks everyone!

Can you build a JM worship preset stereo? With dual amps, delay and reverbs?
@JustinMuncy
@JustinMuncy 29 күн бұрын
@@tudorchiorean8674 while this doesn’t have stereo amps per se, it does have stereo cabs, delay, and verb. So you are getting a slight tonal difference on your left right channels, and still, the wide delay + verb fx. I will be working on a volume 2 of this preset in the near future that will have stereo amps. But in the meantime, my JM Pedalboard preset does feature stereo amps if that’s really what you are after!

I have the QC and my biggest battle has been deciding how I want to set up the signal chain. Honestly, my best results have been setting the signal chain to the same as if I had a real board into the front of a real amp. I think as reason the wet effects aren't reacting the way you want them because they are ran post amp which is more like a polished studio sound. Those wet effects want to feel your drives smashing into the preamp to get that edge of chaos sounds that makes worship guitar so great. For stereo routing, try A/B instead of balanced and split instead normal on the stereo type. Pan the path and ir's/cabs fully, and ,make sure the phase is correct. It really opens up your wet effects. I literally just went through and redid my whole preset. comp>pog>drives>volume>modulation>delay>verb>amps>ir's>eq (high and low cut) but just a touch. John Nathan Cordy has a great video on this for modelers in general. Also, I cant recommend good ir's over stock cabs enough. Night and day. I have the xr ir's and they're amazing. Keep it simple. This thing is meant to be as realistic as possible.

Great ear, great tone! Mini rant: different does not mean better. Why something so simple seems so difficult for people to understand? Keep’em coming!
@JustinMuncy
@JustinMuncy 6 ай бұрын
Thank you so much!! and hahaha. That was the least ranty rant I've ever read. But you are right, especially with guitar stuff. Sometimes we get too concerned with making things sound exactly like the real thing, rather just being concerned with how good it sounds.

So very well done. I have the usual suspects on my board, so haven't made the leap to Helix/QC etc. I'm playing through a 60 W Fender SuperSonic DI'd in an Isocab off stage in our rack room. There is just something about a cranked amp pushing air. I run it on the Bassman side at 4, so still pretty clean but plenty loud! The QC sounds pretty convincing.

Thanks so much!! I mean, if you can use your amp, then why not right? There's definitely a vibe to using an amp. My new favorite thing to do at home is to run my FX through my amp head -> a load box, then I use the QC to play with different cab variations + post wet FX. But that's just an at home thing for me. Live, I just use this, and I don't notice the difference. I'm also not really thinking about it. I'm just trying to enjoy playing instead of worrying whether some dude out there is upset that I'm using a Quad Cortex hahaha. Appreciate you!

Great tone. So what do you use as a backup if the QC fails during a gig?
@JustinMuncy
@JustinMuncy 6 ай бұрын
Thanks Eric!! I don't. If it were to go down, I'd just backline another QC and then download my settings from my backups in the cloud. In an ideal world, I'd have an A rig QC/B rig QC and have both ready to go, but I haven't had that luxury.

Great video and sounds amazing! Priced a bit high in my opinion, $42 AUD for one preset?
@JustinMuncy
@JustinMuncy 6 ай бұрын
Thanks so much and appreciate the feedback! It's really a complete worship rig, not just a single preset. So you're getting a pedalboard and amp setup with included captures. There are 16 devices total in the preset that you can use in various combinations via scenes, like you would with a pedalboard. I've also pre-programmed 8 different scenes within it to get you started with some ideas. This is how I use it: I start with this preset as a template for whatever song I'm programming, and then I build out my sounds for the song via scene mode to automate the various FX blocks on and off. Copy and paste the preset for the next, and repeat. The currency change is always crazy to think about. In the US, it's $25.00 which feels much better than saying 42 haha.

Which verb are you using in the QC? Is it mind hall? I like my verbs a little on the darker side and all the ones in the QC tend to be very light and airy

@@a11outwar Totally agree. I wish they would let us have access to our files outside of their Cortex Cloud system. But, at least we have a way to do it for now. A clunky way... but a way.
