It feels like building with cheats should be the default, and then you can enable a simple mode which is the current default. Like my wife played sims 4 again for the first time in years because she saw me watching a video where someone was building with cheats and it finally made so many ideas doable for her.

Honestly you could find the majority of cheats on the actual Sims s page. They give out all the cheats

Most commonly used/known cheats are bb.moveobjects, testingcheats true/false (on/off), bb.ignoregameplayunlocksuntitlement, bb.showhiddenobjects, and bb.showliveeditobjects. You don’t need to turn on the sims 3 camera to alt place items. However, that camera setting is used for freely rotating things. Shift or FN+F5 on a keyboard turns on quarter tile placement. Ctrl+5 isn’t locked behind bb.moveobjects; it even says so in the flooring description. That’s for triangular flooring. It also halves the cost of the tile. There’s an apartment in San Myshuno that has tile in the kitchen with a triangular edge. That’s all I can remember right now because I’m tired.

I know that she recorded a lot of videos wayyyy ahead of time so she could still post daily during her charity month. But that's still so wild! It means she was probably filming multiple videos a day for several days! She absolutely deserves this break.

Simsie go rest, put your feet up, cuddle the cats, read a book or several, you totally deserve it after May. The house is cute, Sims without cheats is a thing i could never go back to. lol. My only nitpick the bunkbed well the top bunkbed is unusable, the ladders are facing the window, that's an easy fix though.

A useful idea for the in-game tutorials would be hot keys. It's so hard to find out they even exist if you aren't watching sims youtubers or looking them up yourself. I don't mean cheats like move objects, but just...how to do quarter tile placement, or holding the shift key to adjust roofs. The instructions tell you some hotkeys in the item captions but really only a few. I don't get why the game keeps them a secret lol

It's a major design flaw. Also most computer games don't just tell you the keys, they let you change them. Not allowing people change the keybinds is an accessibility issue for most games. Another accessibility issue is there's inadequate visual cues for a lot of gameplay events. Like someone at the door, if you're on the other side of the house, you don't always hear the knock, but if you're not looking and deaf, you'll almost never hear it. There should be an option to turn on a notification that will popup and say "someone is at the door", same thing for when the sound plays when someone is at 0 of a need. There's all these different sounds, but a deaf person will miss them. Not to mention a notification if a baby is crying. Not game breaking per se, but it would be helpful.

I wish someone would do that for console players! I play on PS5. I can't do things like 'free rotate' or 'extend one side of a roof only. We also don't have access to mods, which makes sense because it's console, not computer.

@@TheLunaFaerie17 ive been able to free rotate on my xbox before but i forgot how (i think you have to hold the left and right bumpers then rotate with your joystick? im not sure about roof extension though i never figured that out), ever since i started playing on my laptop i never looked back i hate console so much 😭

man cottage living is the reason I buy the packs early. I remember she used a bike from that pack and when I finally had money I bought it excited to use it and was so sad when it was for people who bought it early and seeing that I missed that tree with the string lights brought those feelings of disappointment back. Also, i'm not trying to make her feel bad I believe people should feel free to use what they got exclusive or not it's more like a "damn, missed that too" kinda thing because I had already made peace with the bike and now I have to do it again with a tree and I find that kinda funny.

I just found out that there is a tree with the string lights in the cottage living debug!! If you have the ability to use debug then select cottage living debug only and you should see both the tree and the string lights that fit on the tree perfectly!! Definitely recommend it as they light up at night and are adorable. Hope that helps atleast a bit even if it’s not the same one.

Her putting the bunk bed with the ladder turned to the wall in 14:20. So the bunk bed is not functional.

that's weird, usually the ladder switches automatically to the other side. plus without moveobjects everything should be functional by default, that's the whole point of it. have you downloaded and tested the build already? would love to know if it actually works or not

Oh afaik you can use cheats on consoles (it just locks you out of achievements/trophies if you do so lol) I'd find a guide online but I think you just hold down all four triggers (may be diff based on xbox vs ps I'm not sure) :]

@@prayadubia you can actually use some cheats without them turning off achievements! i know the move objects doesn't disable anything (i believe debug don't either). not sure on this but i think any cheats starting with "bb." shouldn't disable anything

I think that a "no-cheats" challenge would only limit things you HAVE to input a cheat for, like move-objects or debug. To me, things like hot-keys are just game features. You're not cheating by using what is purposefully in the game for everyone to use. That would really make a difference in the challenge.

I never bother with move objects unless I want to experiment building. Because I want to play. I spend a lot of time building and in cas, and in game play so I try to limit time building and creating sims. Kinda like unlocking ability to change other outfits after building a basic house in their style and then off to make them achieve something. How long I take in build mode and cas would leave me with no game play 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

So funny you talk about the Sims Free Rotate thing. I never got to play Sims 3 or any Sims game before Sims 4 and so I never thought to turn on Sims 3 camera mode, so that explains why I am always so lost on peoples build videos, LOL. I tried Sims 3 camera nad it will take my old self far too long to re-learn. But Her TIL why I could never figure out how someone could rotate or take things off the grid.

Update to myself: TIL that you can switch cameras from the upper left corner and I don't have to switch it back and forth in the settings. So now I have Freed the Rotation on my sims stuff!

I'm convinced that having Sims KZfaqrs do the official builds wasn't originally EA trying to get better builds- it was just them trying to show you all how hard it is to operate within these parameters so you'd stop making fun of their houses. Which of course backfired when you all built adorable houses like this within all their parameters 😂

the quarter tiles being allowed is likely due to the fact that console users have that as a normal control (its just called half tiles since pc half tiles are included in console full tiles)

I think it would be neat if she was to take this house and then slowly add cheats to it. Like u have the original no cheats, then she goes back in and adjusts it with the basic hot key that are naturally accessible and then do one final redo where it all cheats so we could see the differences between all of them. would be a neat to see and learn from :)

I haven't played with cheats, mods, or CC, and I like it that way. I spend less time looking for and trying to remember how to use them. Instead, I build normally and jump into gameplay. I guess if you make videos about the Sims, it makes sense to know this stuff.

Editing one side of the roof isn’t a cheat. I play on console and it actually tells you about it in the controls, alongside alt-placing. It just doesn’t explain free rotation

Normally console players are frustrated by video comments like "use your 9/shift/alt keys" by Sim's professionals, but when those same people have similar limitations they are nearly in tears.

I always try building a house without bb.moveobjects first so that everything works, and then when I start cluttering the space I turn it on so that I can alt place furniture closer and add in wall decor and doors/windows!

I find it funny that this is a challenge for people. I personally like to make interesting builds within the game's limits. I like to get my achievements which become unavailable with cheats, and so I decided to make them for others. Fancy but playable. Hot keys are fair game though.

It took me a while to figure out how to use the sims 3 camera, but now it’s the only one i use. I think i also always wind up using the move objects cheat, otherwise the game just feels so restricted and not fun

I'd love to see you renovate this build and allow yourself to use all cheats and ALT-placing etc. in that renovation. I think it would be interesting to see both "styles" compared.
