Great build but by lifting subfloor off the concrete base a couple of inches would allow for airflow underneath shed so it can always dry out fully after each rain fall. Would last hell of alot longer.
@jamalgibson8139

How would you do this? Like using spacers to elevate the framing off the concrete pad? Or using spacers between the subfloor and the floor framing?
@Michael-twin
@Michael-twin Жыл бұрын
@@jamalgibson8139 Hi i use x 50mm x 50mm low profile bearers Made from 100% recycled plastic or treated timber would work fine. Just place bearers opposite direction to your subfloor timbers so that you subfloor sits on the new bearers. You could still fit a skirt around the base to hide the 50mm gap but as long as you fit air vents at each end for decent airflow

It looks like his floor joists are pressure treated 4 x 4s laid directly on the slab. They won't rot, but I suppose the plywood subfloor might eventually without airflow. I doubt he'll have a problem. He could have saved a lot on the lumber: 2 x floor joists, single top plate ( with rafters stacking), and by eliminating a few unnecessary studs. But all in all, an impressive build, well done. It occurred to me that he could have cantilevered a foot or more on all four sides and gotten more square footage out of that slab. But it's a well done job, and he sure didn't cheap out or cut corners.

Well said but i also would add some insulation like bitumen or roofing felt so there would be no direct contact between concrete and wood.

Then, I installed a tiny window A/C that is on a humidistat to keep my tools and equipment from rusting or rotting. It works awesomely. It keeps the shed from getting to sweltering temperatures also.

Jesus Christ is lord. Understanding the truth of the Bible requires personal efforts made in faith. Please, if you haven’t already, read at least three books of the Bible to truly understand what’s at stake. Not everyone knows as much as they think they learned as a child. Three books at the very least is an important milestone to reach. Genesis, Mathew, and one of your personal choice. Please, it is important. Reading isn’t enough. You must do the inner healing Jesus Christ taught. To be forgiven we must forgive. Start there, at home, the heart, try to work through some problems inside. Your parents probably loved you. When doing epoxy floors, premix your metallics into one part of the two-part kit, then strain it through a very fine screen to remove clumps. That is if you want to reduce "tadpoles" or "meteors", which can be seen in this floor. In this particular application there may be streaks and/or "fisheyes" (separation in the product caused by debris breaking surface tension) which would be almost impossible to negate as it's an outdoor project. Overall, it's a solid floor and a great shed.

Was the wood floor over the slab needed for the epoxy? I would've been inclined to cover the concrete with a sheet of plastic to stop the rising moisture from rotting out the treated lumber and perhaps stop the rising radon as well since maybe the epoxy may be a barrier but the sill plate is still permeable.

Great vid and build! Just one extra precaution - I know the electrical wire is protected within the plastic conduit, but laying a 1×6 fence board atop the conduit prior to backfilling would add some extra protection should a future home-owner decide to dig...just a thought. Cheers

Very cool! How's the flooring you used for the exterior siding holding up over the winter? We're in Canada and literally in the middle of doing a similar build (got a matte black roll up door at our local Rona for a steal) but we're deciding on what to do for the exterior.

After one season - so far so good! I definitely don't think the LVP is a great idea if you leave in really hot climates, but I'm hoping for the best in my temperate area. That's awesome on the door deal - mine was crazy expensive since I bought retail. I would love to see the final result if you want to shoot me a DM of the final product @ATimprovements. This does look nice, maybe you did not film it, but I was shocked at you did not show any waterproofing only other then the one window. I would think you would add some type of liquid applied bond sealant and under all the trim at the corners. I have see the T11 siding rot at the bottom of structures when done like this. However, that did take years to rot.

Why did you go through the trouble of making a plywood floor (if the probably uninsulated) concrete foundation can function as floor, risking to generate rot in the floorboards over time, due to seasonal damp rising from the concrete? On the design, nicely done! Made me think about a Japanese build somehow... Job very well done, indeed! ✌️😁

What is the reason to not build the floor on top of the cement foundation? Could the walls be anchored in to the cement foundation? The shed does looks good though.

So the wood would last. In heavy humidity areas, winter in my case, without cement the foundation the building will root in 5 years. If you want to last spend a few hundred bucks and build a 10 cm concrete foundation. Also without foundation, even if the building is made from humidity resistant materials, because of humidity the building under heavy load will end up like the pizza tower. A 10-15 cm concrete foundation saves the investment. Wise decision from the builder
