Thanks for sharing that Allen... from what I have seen in the past, indeed a lot of the poorer ("lower grade"?) fakes do have discernible differences in rubber quality as well as color tones. And certainly the water resistance is not up to par. However there are probable different grades to these counterfeits, with this one being near the top. Have a look when I placed the straps side by side, showing the texture, etc. The feel is the same here and I think not possible to separate, which is scary!

I'm not familiar with the details of such laws in China... in any case GearBest have removed the listing (they tell me they did so when they found out it was a fake). If you feel the police should still be contacted, you should go ahead and do that ;)

Yeah this was from GearBest, however after becoming aware of the issue they have now removed the listing. This was particularly scary as I thought it would totally not be worth the effort faking, but maybe I'm wrong... maybe it's actually quite easy to create the fake quartz module...??

@@PerthWAtch And not just the module but everything else starting from the box etc. This much effort for probably a modest gain. I would understand this better with Rolex or Omega which are vastly more expensive. But with those cases at least the buyer most likely knows that he is buying a fake watch.

Fake ones don’t have the water or shock resistance that real ones do. Not to mention the watch itself doesn’t perform the same

Almost certainly not, for various reasons - this includes the functions not being the same, the module looking different, the quality level being inferior, and the manual looking like a photocopy! If that is not enough for you, GearBest stated to me that they removed the listing after finding out it's a counterfeit.

The quality of the fake one is poorer and very likely will not stand up to the standard G-shock resistances. More importantly is that this was not sold as a fake, but being passed off as the real thing, with Casio rather than Chinese KO pricing.

Interesting to hear that. Personally I have made it a bit of a channel policy that I will not knowingly feature counterfeit products. Homage is fine with me, counterfeit is not. So I won't be reviewing those... at least not knowingly.

@@PerthWAtch Nah, it doesn't have anything of that sort. Everything is perfect. The Bluetooth connection was working, stoped working 2 hours later. The dial which shows on which mode the watch is right now also kind of appears to be not on place. Just that.

@@PerthWAtch I admit that the watch is a quality built piece on its own and I suppose it’s made that way for a specific market but I rarely see working men wear anything like that but, there’s a watch made for every wrist. Here in San Antonio, TX I come across a lot of these flashy Casios at dirt cheap prices, sometimes I’ll grab one when they’re around $15 and in great shape, some I keep in a bag and some I give to friends if they like them. I have found a couple Casio ABC watches at local pawn shops for $50-$70 that were GREAT deals. But my PRG-600 series is the one I bought used but like new on Amazon for $180 and it’s on my wrist always. I switched out the band for an OD green nylon strap with black leather inlay for a more military appearance and it fits great, I always keep the original straps in the case for obvious reasons. Like you, I’m amazed at how far these copied versions have improved, never seen that before. While I was in Iraq in 2003 we had monthly bazaars where Iraqi vendors would set up small stands and we had a few watch vendors that brought in all kinds of replicas and many were amazing, I still have a couple of them. The local jewelry shops near Baumholder, Germany was hit hard when sneaky Soldiers sold them to the German owners as real versions. These cost us $30-$50 per quality fake watch and they were convincing. These watches came from a floating factory that was a ship that traveled to various ports and sold watches to vendors then after a few days, they’d move to another port in some middle eastern country. While in Iraq I wore a gold faced Arnie and she never let me down. I gave the Arnie to a Kurdish man who was a commander in the new Iraqi Army that we trained in 2003-04, he was a great man, we noticed that the day all the new applicants arrived, most of the new recruits were playing grab ass and we’re generally low quality but one man stuck out and we all noticed it, turns out that Kurds are far different than Arab Iraqis since they don’t inbreed as Iraqis do. So, to pay my respects, I gifted him the Arnie, I hope he’s still alive and well.
