It protects against cold, heat, cuts/bites and chaffing of the skin around our joints. Our hair became less of a necessity once we started wearing clothes, but the main contributing factor is more likely to be that the less hair a female had, the more vulnerable she was and therefore more likely to remain docile and subservient. Her likelihood of survival without the protection of the family/tribe would be drastically reduced. As you said in the video, they have it too easy nowadays. They don't have any idea how hard the world is outside of their safe little bubble.
