One of my favorite surf sessions in a long time. Sometimes the planets align and they shoot you out some of the best longboard waves ever! I also worked on some fun drills that made quite a difference. Enjoy!

„one of these days it’s gone be fun“ oh man, nice to see what a great session you had, I'm jealous.. only rain and flat for weeks.. I'm getting wanderlust and would have loved to have been there. As soon as our kids are a bit older, we'll have to surf across the pond and surf a few sessions together, hopefully very soon. Best regards from the north of Germany and all the best for the new year

Nice, always enjoy watching the entire process of a surf. You get to observe your setup waiting for the wave, and patience with "eyes on" the wave as it starts to form and pick up. I guess it is about the 2 "P"s patience and position 🙂. Had one really good day here; and today was a good surf, which was nice after I had my worst surf in months about 4 days ago. Some days your too much into your own head and you need to just stop, feel, and surf. Cheers from NZ

So true! I also believe it has a lot to do with the conditions. Days like this one I feel like a real longboarder.. cut to the next day when the waves are steeper and faster and I feel like I stink. But that's surfing... adapting to conditions.

I enjoyed seeing a whole session. ....How about an edit showing ypu and your buds goofing around? Sometimes we take surfing a bit to seriously. A good "boardmeeting" with friends is really what surfing is all about.

I’ve a new log yet to see the water due to me being injured, got a Karma 9’2” chop tail single fin from Cornwall (in the UK). Had a Walden before but it was a bit too performance based and I’m certainly not a performance surfer 🤣 Hoping to remember some of your tips out in the water. You know what it’s like though, you’re so elated to catch a nice wave o forget to try and do anything but trim along for as much as I can. Love it 🤙🏼

I've been following your channel for awhile and it's definitely helped me change and adjust my own style to be a better surfer. Something that I've found productive for me, which I haven't noticed in your own style yet, is stalling the board before starting your cross stepping when the wave is setting up slow or you get out in front of the pocket. I'd be curious to see how that works for you and if it helps create more noserides. Thanks for the videos 🤙🏼

Hi I have been following your Longboard journey and have found the videos and tips very helpful although the waves in N.J. are by far more superior than what we experience in North East Scotland. Can I ask you the dims of your Blue/White board your personal weight also would you say this has an effect on how the board performs for you in the water.
@LongboardSessions
@LongboardSessions Жыл бұрын
Awesome thanks so much! My board is a 9'6" COS Chingona and I'm 5'4" and 130 lbs. So you could say that my board is a little big for me, but so far that's how I like it. I want some weight to the board.. atleast that's what I'm figuring out haha. Surfers weight definitely effects the board. If you're into traditional longboarding then go bigger than you think. You can also ask the manufacturer to give you recomendations based on your weight

@@LongboardSessions Hi I enjoyed your reading your reply and have just viewed a Ben Considine video regarding the subject we broached. Bob McTavish also discussed this subject in an interview which covered the subject of volume, he states the Archimedes principal of displacement and that any foam above the water line on a board means nothing and far better to add extra volume on the width and also once the board catches the wave the volume is irrelevant as it planes along the wave 🙂
@LongboardSessions
@LongboardSessions Жыл бұрын
@@williamdiplexcito8413 The guy who owns COS says the same thing! Really all about the dimensions rather than volume. BUT! Weight has something to do with it as well.

what size board do you use? for a person 6' and 225, is 9'6" appropriate for longboarding in NJ waves?

@LongboardSessions Жыл бұрын
I use a 9'6" and im 5'4" and 130 lbs. It may be a couple inches too big, but at this point I like it a little larger. Justin Quintal's strategy is to ride a board that's slightly bigger than what he's supposed to ride. For you I'd go for a 9'10 ish. You can always contact the board company you're interested in and ask them for recommendations given your height and weight.

The arms are an influence on balance as well as style. Watch Karina Rozunko surf and you will never hope for her to drop her arms down. But I do understand you are just trying to emulate your favorite surfers. Not really a right or wrong thing.

Yes I agree. This is more of a drill. Karina is using her arms with a purpose to keep balance where as I feel like I'm relying on them too much. I'm looking for the right balance of both haha

Surfing can be kinda strange. No 2 waves are quite the same. And a maneuver that you did perfectly on 1 wave can be a disaster on rhe very next one.
@LongboardSessions
@LongboardSessions 10 ай бұрын
Yes exactly. That's why learning how to read what the wave is doing in front of you is one of the greatest skills. And that skill really only comes with experience haha
@michaelburk9171

@@LongboardSessions indeed. You see surfers that are always in the perfect spots, find channels to paddle out thru, and never or rarely lose contact with their boards. These skills and abilities are lost on novices. And even some experienced surfers.
