the amethyst geode is perfect for making purple sparkly square buildings that have no purpose. Also, the bean blocks are great for making giant square buildings that have no purpose. I'd hold off on using the deep slate though for making a giant square building until you can find a purpose for it.

If I knew how I woulda submitted my world. Base in a geode at the bottom of the ocean with glass enclosures to grow plants on the ocean floor. Also have rooms like my enchanting room visible from the ocean surface cause it's all glass roofed underwater. Lots of 1.17 additions to soak it all in lol. Whole deepslate room for brewing too. But yeah idk how to submit things haha

That last world with its 21 x 21 map wall... That's the exact size of map wall that I have in my hardcore world! I never thought I'd actually see someone else with such a large map wall, let alone one with the exact same dimensions as mine! That's really cool to see!

The thing about the new 1.17 blocks is that almost none of the non-Deepslate blocks are going to be building staples. Blocks like Tuff, Calcite, Amethyst, and Copper are really niche blocks that most people will use sparingly. The only blocks that people will really use en masses are the Deepslate blocks, but since they are so close to Blackstone I think that a lot of people won’t be as inspired to build with them right away. I think that the best blocks for builders in this update are Moss Blocks, Moss Carpets, Azalea Trees and Bushes, Glow Berries, and Glow Lichen: they make for some really good ways to landscape builds and I’m having more fun with them than anything else.

toycat's lack of ability to distinguish deepslate and blackstone is frustrating.

Toycat I have an idea, you should create a new let’s play world and share the seed on a video, let the viewers also play on the same seed and at the end of a month, have the realm review based on people who played that seed with you. It will show how different people play minecraft and would be fun :)

I have some 1.17 builds in my creative world but I have only incorporated a few of them into my survival one due to lag and infrastructure and inspiration issues

In my 1.17 java world I like building with the new copper blocks and cobbled deepslate. I admit that there's a lot of block variations of deepslate that I don't use but it's cool that they're an option.

I spawned a bunch of bees in my creative experiment world when they first released that world also has a blue ice/boat racetrack, so I knew that bees went in boats. I wouldn’t expect most people to, though.

So I have an idea for a pot full of beans, basically use trapdoors on the sides of a raw copper block, OR if you want to go overkill, make map art of a metal texture then place 4 item frames around the sides and place the maps there

Just remember that deepslate bricks are basically seared stone bricks (from tinkers construct)

Honestly: I've wanted to build with some of the new stuff, but all of it is just too rare for me to use. I don't have access to enough Deepslate to use it on the scale I need. I can't even get most of the new plant blocks, I have yet to see any glow berries at all in survival, and while copper has it's uses it's so different to most blocks I haven't used it yet. When Deepslate becomes more common with a deeper world tho, that is when the Deepslate builds will take off

I think you should’ve waited longer to look for 1.17 builds. It literally just came out. Not everyone spends every day in Minecraft. I’m waiting for 1.18 before I do much. I don’t want to explore chunks I don’t need to until then.
