Thank you, Alicia, this was so helpful! What you said about snacking often and keeping weight on the frame as a response really hits home. I am a snack monster and will make every attempt to cut down on the snacking with what you said in mind. In other news, I was really proud of myself because I went to Trader Joe's today and stood in front of the pastries looking at different muffins, etc., then finally walked away without any sugary, carby products. A "W" is a "W".

You are so right about food preparation and cooking what you eat. I gained 7 kilos in one year once my kids left home and I started eating out more and cooking less. Fast forward two years and throw in menopause and now 13 kilos over healthy weight. Back to cooking more and gradually cutting out added sugar. Thanks for practical advice

Word! This is a great upload. Since going meat based (carnivore atm) I never have sugar cravings, don't need caffeine, and I always get in enough protein and lots of healthy animal fats. I don't miss the snacking and carb/sugar crashes 😅THANK YOU for talking about how important protein and electrolytes (especially salt) are. Women tend to under eat and/or not eat enough protein/healthy animal fats. Your message in this vid is spot on!

Great video, very helpful, love that you’re doing these kinds of videos. I’m trying to cut out sugar cravings right now, I use Stevia in my morning coffee or ice tea. Hope you do one on what causes bloating all day long. Thank you❤
@aliciaarcher
@aliciaarcher Ай бұрын
Covering bloating is tough, as it’s individual based on one’s tolerance. Some recommendations I can make however, are establishing regular meal times, and experimenting with eliminating certain foods in your diet. Fiber, as much as it’s recommended, I think can cause bloating as some people cannot properly digest large amounts of plant matter. So perhaps you need to cook more of your veggies, and lessen leafy green intake if that’s what you’re currently doing. Same thing with some grains and nuts- not that any of these foods are bad, but every one’s digestive capacity is different. And our digestive systems can adapt, but a proper dosing I feel needs to be established in order to give the digestive system time to acclimate.
@BlingyBea
@BlingyBea Ай бұрын
@@aliciaarcher I did try going carnivore but my bowels did not like that plus was still getting the bloating. I did the one meal a day, same bloating. I’ve tried to eat mostly chicken and veggies and my veggies are steamed broccoli or green beans, sometimes I just have sliced seedless cucumber, small romaine tomatoe and some sliced bell pepper with chicken skillet cooked with a little avocado oil. If I eat any fruit it will be berries and pineapple. I’ve told my GP but he’s clueless on any advice. I’ve just learned to accept that bloated feeling, this started a couple of years ago, is there a specialty Dr that I should try to see.

A few year’s ago, I was having a lot of GI problems. One of the first things my GI doctor told me to cut out was ALL artificial sweeteners, including Stevia, Truvia, and aspartame. I now drink unsweetened tea and black coffee. Artificial sweeteners disturb your gut micro biome. Eventually I went on the Low FODMAP diet and it changed my life. So many foods that I thought were good for my body, actually bloated me.
@BlingyBea
@BlingyBea Ай бұрын
@@realpixiestix Thank you, I’ll go checkout that Low Fodmap diet, never heard of it. Sure didn’t think Stevia could be the culprit too.

@@BlingyBeapeople usually undergo an adjustment period when turning carnivore. I wouldn’t have necessarily done one meal a day, but I know that frequency is often associated with the carnivore diet. Eating three meals a day that are animal based I think is a good place to start. I know it’s frustrating, but I wouldn’t give up. Your body is telling you something, and we just need to figure it out. But bloating is not normal, and you shouldn’t have to experience the level of discomfort on a daily basis.

Now that you've got to this point, medical intervention would be appropriate to help you in achieving your final goals. I have faith that you can do it, so I'm counting on you to believe the same. You're doctor should be able to refer you to a Dietitian or a professional who is experienced in treating cases like yours. Wishing you all the best from Victoria, Australia.💖

Great content! I started having terrible eczema, come to find out I have a ton of mold and candida in me. I knew I was gonna have to change my diet so a month before I started just decreasing my maple syrup consumption, and processed food snacking. I hate feeling bad, I can’t go one thing to the other drastically, I’m the tortoise! They started me on the AIP diet, and having an AIP cookbook really helped! After a few Months now I’m on the anti candida diet. again, I think investing in anti candida specific cookbooks is super helpful. I don’t enjoy cooking, just tell me what to do! I’m glad they didn’t just start me on that day 1. It’s been easier to get stricter a little at a time, for me. My rash is basically gone, but I still have a ways to go. It’s been somewhat “easy” to do better with my diet because I do actually feel so much better, it reinforces itself. My current food crutches for when “I’m starving” between meals has been bone broth, or a green apple though after your video I should probably re think that.

What’s crazy is when I had my eczema flare up, Google said “it’s the dairy and the eggs” 🤣 I laughed because that’s what I eat on a daily basis, and have been even before the flare up. First I cut out caffeine, which worked for a bit, but the symptoms started to creep in again. When I decided to stop using body lotion, that’s when it completely healed. I was baffled. I use a lye based soap sparingly, and slap on Vaseline. And even started eating foods again that apparently trigger eczema, but no relapses here!
@celinag9968

Firstly, mold is everywhere and it’s pretty common for people to have some. But in a healthy person your body also is constantly pushing that out. In my case my immune system fritzed out after I had Covid for a month. I just never felt 100% recovered. I saw a functional medicine dr, and based on my symptoms (always exhausted, always sick, rash, asthma, etc) we did a urine test. Some of the mold in me is environmental and some is from eating foods that commonly carry some spores, so I’m also concurrently on an anti mold diet! No grains, no nuts, no sugar, etc. I think having levels of mold that are unhealthy is uncommon in most of the population with healthy immune systems, but at the same time if you’re wondering get yourself checked out! I struggled for a few years before I really advocated for myself and found a different dr, I regret wasting time when I knew something was up.

Dear Alicia, if only a balanced diet was as easy for myself to indulge in! Have you ever known anyone who does not have a stomach (Gastrectomy)? If you haven't, you have now. My stomach was removed in an emergency operation to save my life a number of decades ago. When I read your advice, I chuckled when thinking how much more difficult this would be for myself. Such simple advice becomes ever so hard when it comes to dealing with me! Although, I'm a more difficult case to sort out, I'm sure your advice can help many others.🇦🇺👩🏼‍🎨💖

Felt like I was sitting in a church pew listening to a biblical no nonsense lesson Yesss yes yes. Complex sugars are the only sugars you need. It's a mental challenge. That instant dopamine spike triggered by simple sugars is what people want but it's the worst thing for you. Most people will never track their macros but I'm reality, if we cook our own meals and actually READ the nutrition facts prior to, we'd see changes. I feel like utter poo if I eat sweets. I remind myself that my meals can be enjoyable but they're truly just a means to an end -- energy for my day. I see enough of what a sedentary lifestyle full of overconsumption creates. Self discipline in the most challenging of all. No one but you will hold yourself accountable. "A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips"

Thank you for acknowledging the carnivore space 😊… wondering what your take is on dairy for carbohydrate intake… I am not sensitive to dairy… also I use drip drop electrolytes because that is what is available to me at a manageable price however, they do have about 7g of sugar cane as it’s sweetener… is this something that could possibly derail me? Thanks!! great video!

For dairy, we’re looking at raw whole milk 8oz, low fat cottage cheese 120g ish, 2oz of half and half in my cortado, and 150-175g of raw full fat greek yogurt per day 🙋🏽‍♀️ Which is high for some people, but I’ve been doing this for years, and I have eczema prone skin. Since I’m lifting heavier, my carb intake has gone up to around 200g a day. I try to dose it slowly to stay in control.

As for the sugar cane, if it doesn’t put you in a tizzy, meaning incite sugar cravings for you then it’s ok. It depends on your response. I would of course would opt for a sugar free version, but if that’s all you have access to then that’s what we have to work with.

I’ve got to have something in my coffee. 😬 Plus black strap molasses is high in iron, magnesium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin b6, trace minerals, and is a powerful antioxidant, anti inflammatory, helps with constipation, boosts hair health/growth, and blood sugar stabilizer.

I use maple syrup to increase the caloric intake of my meals, because I find honey to be too sweet? Which I know sounds strange considering they’re all sweet, but maple syrup has an underlying heartiness that makes it more palatable for me. I also think it depends on the person’s tolerance, where if their addiction is on the high end, they might need to eliminate all types of sugar to not trigger the urges. Some people can have modified servings, and others simply cannot. It really all depends 🤷🏽‍♀️ Back in the day, black molasses was considered to be a multi vitamin within the context of a low calorie diet, which struggling families had to deal with, and served their kids the molasses to help them stay afloat. I don’t know if that was more from an energy standpoint or the trace vitamins actually made a difference. I’m grateful that I can obtain those nutrients from other foods, and not have to rely on molasses. Especially since the iron in molasses in non-heme, which is less bioavailable than heme iron. Sure, with the intake of vitamin c you can bump up the absorption, but I mostly rely on my iron intake from animal products. For blood stabilization, one of the best ways to minimize wicked blood sugar spikes is to not have refined flour and sugar in isolation, minimize or completely eliminate snacking, and have more lean mass on your body. In fact, taking a walk after your meal, or staying lightly active helps the post prandrial glucose response. Your muscles take up the glucose without the presence of insulin during exercise. Which would lead me to believe that depending on the person, having molasses in isolation would spike blood sugar? I think the stabilization theory comes into play if someone has the jitters, you feed them a tablespoon of molasses, and they feel better-that’s a sign of metabolic syndrome. The glucose levels plummeted so low that you needed more sugar to get them back up 😬
