like # 318 Gardening is a gateway drug- first it is a few plants then it is chickens and a bee hive, next you will be making your own beer and trying to be self-sufficient. All because you wanted to grow a tomato. Enjoy the ride !!!🙂

Yep ; since a couple of years I print my own bills & mint my own coins. Of course this needs to establish my own rules to regulate my market with my neighbours. And those of my sect community don't have to comply to them, since they are exempted by being initiated to what they are allowed to do ; while tax contributions only applies to profanes to help us grow our ostracic community. But we must be kind towards them by letting them believe in our delusional collectivistic system.

I'm with you on plum/paste tomato for sandwiches! The nice thing about beefsteak types is that you can top a sandwich with one, nice slice, though. So I grow both, but when I don't have fresh, I only buy plum tomatoes at the store!

I love watching your garden grow! I lived in an apartment the last several years, and when I moved away from my hometown, I still drove two hours whenever I could to tend to a LARGE garden I had on my mom and dad's land. Sadly I had to relocate again much futher, and they sold our childhood home and moved the opposite direction we did. I have lived vicariously through a few youtubers and you are one of them! Just started renting a house, and my landlord says I can build raised beds in the backyard! Problem now is my job. Im working every single day after spending a year and a half building a team up. I lost half of them in a week, and I have built beds with no soil and 200 seedlings that need to be outside desperately. 😅 the life of a gardener is often a rollercoaster. I may have to continue to live vicariously through you this year again. I take it all in good stride. Next season will be better. Maybe the fall garden season will be better! I can always sell the seedlings to help with the upfront cost of seeds and help others learn the joy of gardening :)

Don't give up. If can't find garden room, do community gardening. If no community garden, start one. Or help new gardeners around where you live. Take care and many blessings everyone.

I looked into the squash borer problem a lot this year. I read that if you use those yellow sticky traps for gnats that vine borers are attracted to yellow and will stick themselves right to them looking for a place to lay eggs. I sprayed nematodes and I am going to start spraying BT every time it is dry outside. I don't know what else to do. I also planted a few "resistant" varieties and some that aren't so I guess we'll see if I manage to eradicate the suckers out of my yard or if I only end up with resistant squash!

Just an FYI, the hairs on the stems of tomato plants don't turn into roots. The stems will root out, but the little hairs are called trichomes and they do not grow into roots. The stems have parenchyma cells that will convert to adventitious roots when planted deep. I had heard this stated for a long time and started reading up on it and found this information and just want to pass it along.

I love tomatoes, my favorite is the beefy ones for sandwiches. I really dislike tiny tomatoes but my son loves those tiny ones. I want a garden so bad and miss it. I have never been able to grow onions yet others seem to throw them in a spot and they come back every year. I can not wait until i have land i can garden in again.

I love the fact your yard is your garden ❤ and the chickens yes !. If your place black cover over your garden soil after the season it will kill the weeds in the garden and you won't have to think about weeds for years

We live in a very rainy mountainous area. I put tomatoes and peppers out in my side garden on the 08th of May. Our last frost date is May 25th. My plants look beautiful!! I plant Jalapeño peppers for jam and salsa. Oh, you don't rotate your crops? Glad to have found you. Nice chickens. I have had a similar issue with my Thyme plants. I was sure they were in all the gardens but when dividing up the plants to Companion Planting , I did not have any! So I grew more. Your gardens are gorgeous! Where are you? I have found that most pots need watered daily! Brightest Blessings

You have such a beautifulGarden. I would love to get some chickens, but I think my dogs will be a threat to them. I agree, my favorite tomato isa Roma. They’re good for cooking and eating on sandwiches. I also like the fact that they’re not all wet and seedy.

I'm growing Excelsior from Johnny's this year too! It's a parthenocarpic variety meaning it doesn't need pollinating to produce fruit. I'm also growing Little Leaf from Johnny's and Party Time from Burpees. Cheers everyone!

You should try out oxheart tomatoes. They are huge, great for slicing and sauce. Very fruity, not watery. And by huge I mean huge. Like 500 gramms (more than a pound) huge. I love them, best for some tomato-Mozzarella-salad with fresh basil. 🤤

It has been fun finding you and watching you garden. I am from Kansas and was looking for someone that homesteaded close to where I live. I am also gardening in a suburban backyard. It gets bigger and bigger every year! I am planning on doing the luffas next year! I can't wait! Wish I would have found you this winter and I would have planned earlier!

Give your chickens distractions. Like metal ball with lettuce in it. Or put hole through lettuce head, then rope and suspend both. In different places. Take care all.

Yes and how exciting! Ive dabbled in the past but never like I did this year. Being in a smaller space and wanting production varieties so I can get the biggest harvest out of my small space. I love to do preserving and was curious Ive Id see a big difference or not.

@@itsbreellis I have wanted to do the same thing, but I'm not quite as far along in the garden as you are. Both physical garden and gardening knowledge haha. I am happy that I'll be able to watch you try out the hybrid varieties and learn from you before I try it myself! Your climate is pretty similar to mine (I'm in southern Missouri) so I think I'll be able to apply a lot of the same techniques as you do! Thanks so much!

Enjoyed video. I harvested our garlic and onions this week, and tomatoes are about to explode. I am in 8b near Texas Gulf. But today was extremely hot with 80 degrees and 95 percent humidity in the afternoon, so disease and pest are are about to explode as well.

You have beautiful garden and it start to looking good..one thing that surprise me is your tomatoes plants. I cnat get them to look that good inside under the light and on top I am allergic to the smell they produce at night. at what time do you fertilize your tomatoes in the garden?
@itsbreellis

Ive fed these a few times while inside. But it can just depend on the health of your soil. Im more of a watch the plant kinda of person. I just amended these beds so I probably won't do much until june/july
