I caught so many fish! It was an unreal session! What an episode this is! Graeme heads off to a day ticket stretch of the famous River Wye run by Hereford & District AA in search of the hardest fighting river fish in the UK, the mighty Barbel. First stop is at Woody's Tackle shop for the info on areas to try, and then it’s a longer yomp with a fully loaded tackle barrow to reach the swim..Oh.XXXX..there is an angler already in the swim. Move ON to next spot...Oh..XXXX..another angler in the spot. So he decides to drop in where he can and using his home made feeders and horse feed groundbait his rod nearly takes off on the first cast. It proves to be a fish-fest of action, and over an hour long,its movie length,so you know you can sit back and put your feet up with a glass(or cup) of your favourite liquid. It's classic Graeme Pullen fishing with his basic tackle and bait approach...does it work? You bet it does...watch the film to find out..Enjoy..it’s TOTALLY AWESOME time.

Probably just as well for me as any time I go into a tackle shop I just see racks and racks of "thingies" and end gear that I have not a clue what they do !!!...Seriously..I try to keep it basic and just go fishing...sometimes it all comes together..the same as it did 50 years ago..same methods,techniques,baits etc..If I end up with a fish in the net why would I change anything ?

@@TAFishing I used to fall for that and buy stuff I’ve never used or really know what it’s for. Now living in Portugal it’s back to basic quiver tip fishing for carp or barbel - not much else in the Algarve unfortunately - or occasional carp rigs so I have a load of stuff unopened brought from the UK.

You are so right. I've been an angler for over 70 years and all the rubbish you see in tackle shops is mad to catch anglers, not fish. I still fish the same way as I did all those years ago and catch my share of the fish.

Dear Graeme and Mike. I just wanted to say thank you for helping me relax. On Thursday I found my soulmate passed away in his flat. I tried my best to help him but he was already gone. I've got a good amount of people around me, but when I'm alone it's good to watch and listen to you. I don't know if you know how much you mean to people, you make interesting videos and have a good time, but there's a lot of us out here that just need some company and distraction. You are both awesome. Thank you. ❤️

In the peak of the Barbel season during the 1960's maggot era on the Hampshire Avon,the average could be as high as 10 Barbel a day..I used to have a week in June and a week in September,that could give you over 100 Barbel if conditions were right and you had a gallon of maggots every day and a baitdropper. Biggest catch I know down there was a couple of anglers in the Parlour pool during a flood. The bulk of flood went down the weir side and the Barbel holed up in the Parlour which was slower flowing ..They had 27 in just one day !!...My best was in a film I put up Nov 2021 when I had 16 on the Wye in a few hours. I don't expect I will ever beat that.

A fine hour spent watching another old guy enjoying himself fishing. Wise man that he is.. I live about a mile from the north sea but can't remember the last time I twisted a hook out of a fishy jaw. Bad, lazy Ian. Graham - if you read these, might be you'll see this. How come every place you visit sounds like you're on the M1's central reservation? Are there motorways adjoining all these places? Surely not - or is it the auto gain in your sound recording boosting ambient noise when you're not talking? Sure is noisy whatever it is. I have a gopro too, a 7 Black. but I don't think mine does that with its sound. Small matter, your films are some of the best natural-TV available. Thanks so much for making them! (In spite of the moan above 👍)
@TAFishing
@TAFishing Жыл бұрын
No,I think you are right,on the Canon Legria which I use on a tripod,if I don't start talking immediately it jacks the audio right up straining to listen to something rustling 30 yards away.Then if I talk the the sound levels on the edit go flying off the scale,so I have to adjust any talking in the edit stage.You probably only hear the extra audio background when the camera is on the tripod.The Canon also has no wind muff and is internal,directional.

Graeme what a session loved watching that. I've sadly missed out my wye trips for the past couple of covid years! Normally do a 4-5! Day trip at the start of the season. Anyway great to see you got your timing absolutely prefect 👌 great simple angling and loving the skill to switch to rolling meat. I finally there last weekend. The wye had doubled overnight tons of debris branches and trees were coming down with no where to hide! A very different river. Gutted I missed these lower conditions would of rolled meat and float fished for sure. Next time let me know when your going cheers Jon 😉

First time watching your video. What great memories come back to me. Nothing beats creek fishing by yourself. I’m 76 and from Illinois, USA. The area wheee you fished in this video looks like Illinois creeks. I also catch carp on crawfish but have never tried lunch meat, that’s a first for me. Not sure where you are from but in the States we have only Common carp. They look much different than your carp. Ours have huge scales , no feelers around the mouth and bout the same size as what you caught. We do not have the much larger jumbo carp that are in England. Do you have them where you live? Anyway, thanks for sharing. God bless.

Eels, critically endangered now. I think commercial elvering mostly to blame. I must have lost hundreds of hooks to them over the years. Not caught one in many years but had a 6 lb 10 oz in a very deep ex clay pit once while carping. Lip hooked too, thanks to the critically balanced boilie on a hair rig. It had been mopping them up, it's belly was almost bubbly in appearance.
