The ZL1 is nice, but I'm still buying the GT350 if I ever have the chance. You can't beat a flat-plane 5.2L V8 in terms of the noise it makes. Also, the 350R has a better color palate than anything GM has released lately.

I wanted to get this 38 inch ultrawide since I've first seen it at CES 2019. But the price is so ridiculous, so absurd that I STILL cannot get over it and will not buy it until it's much more reasonable. It goes for 2k EUR here in Europe and the price is not dropping at all, at least the 34GK950G dropped a lot in price in the first few months after release. And the worst part is that you would have to upgrade your GPU to at least a 2080 Super or better 2080 TI to get some decent FPS on this monster resolution.

Hey Jay. That monitor is 3840x1600 resolution. That comes out to 21:9, just like a typical 34" 3440x1440. But I'm with you, the extra few vertical pixels would be nice. I'm waiting for the next models to become available for sale, hopefully at a reduced price. (The Freesync models.)

The Curious Noob It will be amazing. I use a C9 55 inch on my desk. I went from a tn 24 inch 144hz and EVERYTHING is better. Motion blur and ghosting is nonexistent. Colour is amazing. I was afraid that the dpi would be to low for me. I sit 60-80 cm (2 - 2 1/2 feet) from the tv. But the pixel substructure is a lot better then my old TN so even though the dpi is lower the perceived resolution is higher. Regarding 48 vs 55 inch My C9 pulls dual duty, I live alone in my small apartment. 48 would be to small for watching movies. But 55 inches is not to big for gaming. Though using word or cad full screen can get quite overwhelming.

Great video, I own this monitor and have it posted on my channel, I loved seeing your perspective as it came months after it was an option, far too many reviews just rushed out. You pretty much touched on all of the reality points, I purchased because I was looking for an upgrade from my original run of the Predator X34, outside of that, any person that has just jumped into Ultrawide monitors doesn’t need to look on to this, the refresh rate trade off isn’t worth it, and I equally feel that 120Hz is the sweet spot. One thing I would like to point out, because of the strange resolution of this monitor, I’ve had some inconsistencies with using it within my dual PC setup, depending on the source I’m looking to capture on my second PC while gaming on this one, I’ve ran into intermittent black screen issues on the streaming/recording side, this was never an issue running at native 3440 x 1440. But I love the monitor, been rocking it since January.

Only if it allows you to view three monitors for secondary and tertiary tasks while being able to watch the TVs in the back of the room while allowing for me to see the room. VR to me is like going back in time in the 80s when I had only one TV and a Nintendo. I can't do that anymore, it's so depressing.

I was in Micro Center the other day trying to decide what monitor I wanted to upgrade my 60hz Predator x34 with, and they had 10 of them in stock. When I went back the next day to pick one up (after doing a ton of research), there were only 8 left. So they sold THREE of these in one weekend. What sealed the deal for me was that they're the only company making a 38" wide-screen gaming monitor as of this posting. I will be using this while working from home and for gaming, and the 38" gives you the same height as a standard 27" monitor. So it's truly the best of both worlds. Of course the gaming features are nice for the weekends.

Thanks for this video, Jay. Here in the Netherlands the lowest price for this beast is even higher ( € 2110 which is today $ 2308 ), I have the Asus PG348Q and Ireally wanted to switch to this monitor, but your last remarks really pushed this out of my head (13:05 No use switching if you already have a 34"). @Wingnutt 1 depends how you look at it, i think you're pushing less pixels because you lose the vertical height of the panel. Let's say it's a 16:9 1080p panel it's now 1920x800p instead of 1920x1080p.
@EdWilson2
@EdWilson2 4 жыл бұрын
@@neondemon5137 That is incorrect. The vertical pixels stay the same and more pixels get push horizontally. So instead of 1920x1080 it is 2560X1080.

JayzTwoCents not what I meant. Posed as a question. It was a curious turn of phrase. "LG didn't send me this, I bought it myself, so that'll be an interesting perspective." How does the perspective change based on how you acquired it? Sincere question.

Excellent discussion. As someone who recently moved to a 32:9 monitor: I find utilizing a 21:9 game window is far better for gaming. however, the 49" diagonal of 32:9 displays I have found to be invaluable outside of gaming. Multi-tasking with voice comms open beside the game window, viewing resource monitor's, cross-referencing multiple PDF's, navigating various multiple MS Office applications; the ability to display multiple application across such a wide display cannot be beat. Regardless of the specs the hardware delivers. Simply, I adore the 32:9 for what it does to workflows in addition (and outside of) how I use the monitor to game

Jay hit the nail on the head with the Periscope effect and I've never wanted an ultra wide because of it. Sizing anything between 24-32 inch should be 1440p & over 32 inch needs to be 4k. I personally find 27 inch 1440p the sweet spot for PC gaming

Hey Jay, I love Ultra wide monitors. I wish I had kept the old one as I miss it now. At 1,700 US Dollars, wow! I don’t know if I would buy this one. I am interested in it because of the extra 21X10 real estate. I am using a 19X10 panel at this time and will stay with this format. That’s my opinion on monitors. Thank you for staying safe Jay.
