Oh yeah there was a horrible histories skit about the invention of the sandwich, where they mention people playing cards and how putting meat between two pieces of bread just became a way to stop their hands getting greasy while playing. I didn't expect this video to unlock such a deep memory.

Try a Black Friday Turkey Sandwich. Sourdough bread, spread some dijon mustard on 1 slice, put some left-over Thanksgiving turkey (or deli turkey works just as well) on top of that, some brie cheese on top of that, then some cranberry sauce on top of that, and the other slice of bread on top of that. You can grill it or serve it cold.

The great depression started in September 1929... I don't think I would define the 1920s with the Great Depression. In fact, the 20's was the exact opposite. Business was booming in the 20's (the decade was called the Roaring 20's)

@lithium1916 ай бұрын
Also, for tuna melts, it's better to toast the bread separately, add cheese to one piece of toast and melt in broiler/toaster oven, add tuna salad to the other toast, then put the two pieces together. That way you get the chilled tuna salad with the melted cheese and warm toast. Much better

You should try Chicago’s “Italian Beef Sandwich”. Italian beef is composed of thin slices of seasoned (flavorful) roast beef (sirloin), simmered and served au jus on a long French roll. It’s typical to get the Italian beef with cheese and spicy or sweet peppers. I like to add the Italian sausage to make it a perfect sandwich. It’s wildly popular here in Chicago and the local restaurant that popularized it has a local restaurant chain (not franchised) that was bought by a big investment company that is going to expand it nationally. Even before it was bought it had opened a handful of locations in Los Angeles area, Phoenix area, and Florida. It’s always insanely crowded.

Isn't this what a French jambon beurre is? Only on sliced bread instead of a baguette. For me, it's perfection as is, but I would add cheese because, well, cheese makes everything better :D 🥖🍖🧈🧀
@bellablue52856 ай бұрын
@delirium129 I'll admit I've never heard of that. Usually it's not thin slices (even a spiral cut ham has about quarter inch slices usually), but conceptually if they're similar, cool!

I have a recipe we always eat, and if you try it i want to know how good it is for you. 1 packet 2x Nuclear Noodles 1 packet Koka (Chicken flavour) a Singaporean noodle Cook it so that it is soupy but not too soupy and not dry. Sweet corns and green peas to taste with fired sausages on the side, with Coca Cola. It's our favourite snack when we have family/friend gatherings.

@tim.noonan6 ай бұрын
Nothing is rolled on an Italian. And the bread used is never referred to as a ‘roll’ like a dinner roll. It’s nothing like a British sausage roll either, for example. It’s a sandwich.

@@tim.noonan In Australia subs are considered rolls, same with it being a chicken burger instead of a chicken "sandwich"
@sean6686 ай бұрын
@@FrostyFrostySnowThat’s a thing I’ve noticed gets changed. In the US, the hamburger is the beef itself. You can eat a hamburger as just a steak with no bread, and if you go to very old fashioned places you might still see the original full name “hamburger sandwich” on the menu. But it seems like elsewhere, especially Australia and India, “burger” means a hot sandwich on a roll?
