As a life long GAD sufferer, I can offer some advice on this one mate. I’m 51 and live on the Tropic of Capricorn in Queensland Australia. You’d be astonished just how much heat the human body can handle safely. I would have to set my FIR sauna to 51c and it would be 10 minutes before I’d really begin to sweat. If you’re in England, and the temperature hasn’t hit 37c yet, then your skin temp hasn’t even reached your internal body temperature yet. You have miles of wiggle room. My advice would be exposure therapy, as with all fears and phobias. Find a sauna facility and go in there for a minute or so and gradually build on that. Some of the most out of shape, high blood pressure having, diabetes having, (you get my point) people sit in saunas and not even think about anything other than relaxing. It’s all about inner dialogue and perception of danger. A strong young fella like you could probably shovel concrete all day and be ok if you kept hydrated. People all over the world do that every day.

Knowing you are physically safe helps lots, I was researching the point at which heatstroke occurs and knowing the factors that come into that and having faith in your body to do its job is also really helpful, your body is stronger than most ppl think.

The heat can be brutal for anxiety. The only way I got better is to slowly spend more and more time in the heat. I believe you can do it too. Just be easy on yourself and let the anxiety happen if it does. Fighting it always made it worse for me. Drink lots of water and use those cooling handkerchiefs and dip them in water. Drape it on the neck and it feels great. You can do it!

@anxiety_fitness bro it took me a while to figure out what it was since having one in the heat myself. Thought it was heat stroke but I m certain it wasn't. This thing mimics every symptom known to our body it can be tricky at times.

My anxiety and panic attacks are WAY better than they were last year but I'm in Arizona and it's summer time so the heat is unlike anything you've ever felt before. Yesterday we took the kids to a fun center and when we left it was blistering hot about 115 degrees!!! I offered to drive us in our little car with not great AC. I was feeling anxious and I was almost out of water. I tried my best to remain calm as I drove us across the street to get ice cream and more water. We went inside to cool off and enjoy our cool treat. I decided to brave it and drive us home which was only 2 miles but driving has already been difficult for me for the past two years since I started having panic attacks on the road and found out I have bvd and needed to get glasses. Anyway! I made it home no problem. I just try and keep my trips short, sweet and to the point and I try and bring lots of water and electrolytes and a snack, especially since your car can break down in this heat. I think I'm going to invest in a small neck fan too. I hope you feel better soon!

Small realistic steps to start your going have some loses sometimes ..in an ideal world medication or support might get us out side when where bad but as that doesn't really exist in the real world we have to take care of our selves and only you know how you are on any given day. have you ever tried taking magnesium? i use magnesium chloride oil on my skin or i make magnesium chloride foot baths and it has helped calm me down overall a bit i am less tense. Also alot of people are low in magnesium and stress eats up your magnesium like crazy so i think magnesium is like must for people with anxiety. Also don't say things to your self i have a anxiety disorder therefore i might panic because it's hot you are worrying before anything has even happend setting of your nervous system already. It's not easy but the only way out of this is anxiety sh!t is acknowledge it when you feel anxious and then keep doing whatever you where doing as best as you can with the anxiety present without doing anything about it. That's how we break the cycle if we keep doing things about it to make it go away we confirm to our brain that the anxiety is good and that there is danger reinforcing the cycle. But if we just let it happen without doing anything about it( i know it is very hard) that tells our brain ow it's probaply false alarm because your not fighting or running away. Next time i might give you a bit less anxiety

Did your doctors rule out an arrhythmia or did you have a major incident that may have caused a bit of PTSD? For me I was severely dehydrated and hospitalized but traumatized me and any palpitation triggered anxiety and panic attacks, I was convinced I was dying but when I kept busy it helped me ignore it and I repeat these words . “It’s life disrupting not life threatening, stop it” it does help 😅

@@anxiety_fitness I want to thank you! After seeing your extended ECG video, I got mine done (and saw all its shenanigans there, in black and white!) and my cardio anxiety is so much better. I would say it's gone, but I'm not that naive. In reality it means I've gone from feeling I would never feel 'normal' again, to actual feeling normal! Yesterday I rode 1000ft elevation in the heat, felt minor anxiety when I could hear my fast heart rate in my tinnitus, but I was able to keep things in perspective. I'm now also able to look at my heart rate again whilst on a ride. I haven't done that for two years. THANK YOU! You help people more than you'll ever know.

Ceaser's hopping made me Laugh out loud! He is so Cute and such a boy! (you can tell him I said that) I wanted to share with you something I discovered a few years. I live in the northeastern Untied States, its quite humid here. I imagine it is very humid in the UK as well since its known for its rain. Back around 2015 my family and I took a road trip to Arizona. It was always my dream to see the desert, but I was concerned about the heat and it triggering my anxiety. However it didn't at all! We arrived at our friend's house quite late at night and it was still over 100F! That's like 38C I believe. I had no trouble with my anxiety while I was there, I actually felt great with the sun giving me that sweet, sweet Vitamin D! I've been back to Arizona a few times since then and I never have a problem. In 2016, we spent the summer driving around the southern states where it is extremely humid. I had many, many panic attacks that vacation and couldn't go outside for more than a few min at time. And of course here at home the heat triggers me as well. My theory is that it is the difference between the dry heat and the humidity. When its humid we can't sweat properly and therefore can't cool off properly. Heart rates go up, palpitations happen, difficulty breathing is a problem, these are all panic attack symptoms of course. Even though I have heat anxiety, I prefer the heat over the cold. Summer will always be my favorite season even though I spend most of it inside my air conditioned house. I dream of one day moving to the desert, where I can have the heat and actually enjoy it properly without the threat of panic attacks
@anxiety_fitness
@anxiety_fitness Ай бұрын
Haha! I told him! That's interesting. I've actually been to Death Valley many years ago and would spend a lot of time each year in the southern states as my mom is from Louisiana and we have family there and in Texas. Back in those days heat was not issue for me! It's definitely worse here, more humid and the houses are built to retain as much heat as possible, with no air conditioning as it's usually cold and wet. I'm gonna aim for places with low humidity next!

i used to be able to stand the heat no problem, probably better than anyone i know, but since last year (i had a huge panic attack when in another city far from home and the heat was strong) i have been so afraid of it. i have to remind myself that my body is completely capable of standing the heat, as it always has.

I had to drive some place for work thats 1 hour away via highway and to lessen some of the stress I drove there at 5 am so there wouldn't be much traffic. I then was there 4 hours early and passed the time at a nearby lake but it was better this way. I know it's also a little bit of avoidance but at least I could go there this way. After two years into my anxiety struggle I recently came to this approach: I will try to go to the events I really want to go to but I will try to do it very comfortably for me.
