Hey Becky, thought I would let you know… you really shouldn’t paint your propane tank a dark color. It should be a reflective white or silver to avoid it building up pressure in the heat/sun. (I work for a propane company here in Texas and we are required to refuse service to any tank painted any color other color but white or silver/grey.). I would check with your propane company before painting it. I cannot be certain on requirements in your area, but it’s worth checking out first, instead of finding out you can’t get it filled when you need it.

I love the green stalk. My husband and I are 70 and have never been able to have a homestead. we do however own our own two-bedroom bungalow, with living room, dining room and large kitchen, with an added-on bathroom as when it was built, they used an outhouse, so you can imagine how small it is. lol we do have a nice back yard in which we grew fruit trees from seeds. we used to have a small victory garden, but I told my husband I would like raised gardens in which we could put in a good area of the back yard, I figure we may not have a homestead, but it is the next best thing. we are completely debt free, so I count my blessings every day. I love following your progress and I learn so much from you.

Old school, actual "hair pins" for securing buns, French rolls, etc... ate great for securing the strawberry runners so the babies can take root.

Plant lavender, Russian sage, fox glove, rosemary and catmint by the honey bees. The deer will not eat that and you will have glorious honey. Lavender! Lavender! Lavender! I had a 2 acre garden with no deer fencing but lavender, rosemary, nexican sage, russian sage and catmint on the outside. No deer ventured inside. Try it up by your bees in those open beds. It works!

Do you put your chickens poo in the beds? When you clean out their area, scoop the poo into a pile to decompose so it's not "hot" for the next year. You can add it to your beds in the fall and by spring time, it will be ready to plant in. This will give you a lot of nitrogen. Chicken poo is high in nitrogen.

You can root the strawberry runners into little plastic cups that you just clip with the clothes pin to the outside of the pockets and you can have the babies grow inside the cups and then you transplant the strawberry babies to a new green stock once they're ready to be separated from the mother plant.

Ive been a long time viewer of your channel. I was missing the freedom of how you gardened at the last homestead. The addition of the pots and taking away the fabric just feels right. Thank you for being so constant with your posts. It gives me something to look forward to each week! ❤

When you talk about volunteers, just be very careful about squash volunteers. There are volunteer squash that can make you sick. Your garden looks beautiful. And just when you said it doesn’t get too hot in the Pacific Northwest today we are supposed to be 100 and yesterday was even hotter. That means water water water. I’ve moved 2x in the past 20 years and at both places I plant a Cecile Brunner Climbing Rose. They are beautiful. Here in Eugene I’ve had a really hard time getting my cucumbers to grow. They are finally growing 🤗

Morning glories are perfect for trellis growth. When my mom was alive she planted them every year and they grew beautifully up the side of her house.

Break a paper clip in 2 to create a little u shape to hold the strawberry runners down until the set roots and you can cut the stem.

Feverfew is a perennial medicinal herb that is fantastic for pain relief, specifically headaches. You could transplant them to your bee yard but don't just toss them at the end of the season. They are precious. Also eucalyptus is a tree in some climates. Try to overwinter them please. I'd love to see that. I'm so jealous of your beautiful garden!

You have to ask the propane people about painting the tank. My neighbor had to reprint his, because he painted it a color them didn’t allow , I’m in Texas so every state might be different .

We lived near a Wonder Bread factory, they painted their propane tanks like the old fashioned wonder bread loaf packaging. They were so cute.

For the Pacific Northwest, the passion flower vine is the fastest growing (and easiest to take care of) for trellis growing ❤ It's worth a shot, Becky!

Might want to leave the cabbage plant after you harvest the head of cabbage. In the past, I’ve had three heads of cabbage grow after harvesting the first one. Of course they’re a lot smaller, but still delicious.
