“Step one: choose a name” [SCREAMS IN CONLANGER]

For your first conlang, I'd recommend using the grammar of a language you know, especially your native language, this will help you understand it without having to have to learn your own conlang (in the same way as if you changed the grammar completely from a language you know).

Pro tip: Making words by hand makes your brain work, and your also creating something from your own mind and not a computer; A computer is given inputs and spits outputs, you are given a creative challenge and spit out how your specific brain solves it. By hand is the way to go with anything related to any art, trust me.

I love conlang stuff!! I created an alien language called Kru’vev and it has some pretty weird rules compared to earth stuff but it’s not unnecessarily difficult. “Kafm’ovia’ Joe Zhet’hunululaa” means “every day, Joe is not very difficult”. Stuff is different depending on specific prefixes and suffixes but not like in English

I made my own language name Sesoqanese (Bása Sesóqa) and it’s very close to Javanese and have Indonesian and Arabic loanwords and have unique writing script system Múgi yŏmdóe íku apík! (I hope you have nice day!)

I have also conlangs, here 3 of em: 1 Geldermansch ~ using dutch sounds 2 Mekkogueese (English name) ~ using more of sinnitic and romance sounds 3 Mai ~ my own made up language, with its own sounds.

I made my own language since I'm interesting in countries. I made my own language when I was 9 years old. But it was too complicated .so I changed my language a little bit easier. And I use Kanji words like Japan but only using these words in names. And other living things.

My language is called Russyrian, it has ties to Russian, Slovenian, Hebrew, Armenian and Croatian. I’m still trying to make the Grammar and everything else which is a little tough but I have a huge imagination so I pretty much am gonna try my best to finish and confuse my friends with the language I’ll speak

For me, naming the language is waaaaay down the list. The one I'm currently working on... Here's my process: okay, so these creatures basically have a duck bill/beak so they don't have lips. And they have a sinus crest arrangement like a horn or flute, with 2 holes which can be capped with a flap of skin to make three different tones. The high tone will be for alarm originally, developed into questions, potential falsehoods etc. The lowest tone is a long distance communication now used for proven factual statements only. Nasal sounds will predominate due to the large sinuses. They won't use any unvoiced consonants and fricatives will be least common. Because there are no lips they won't be able to make O or U sounds (experiments with holding lips stiff and making various noises) so yeah, 3 vowels only, aa ehh and ii. All long. Very slow spoken language. Consonants... let's have three points of placing the mouth and tongue. Labiodental, alveolar and velar. 3s seem to be a big deal in this culture, maybe they have a base 3 number system? Anyway we'll go with m, n and ng; voiced stops b, d and g; fricatives V, Z and a kind of rolled G I dunno what to call it; and liquid R, L and J. The written language will be an abjad, written with a calligraphic brush and the angle of the letter will denote the vowel - we'll say a is \, e is | and i is /. Now to fiddle around with letter shapes and generate some root words and grammar...

*Conlang Constructed Language

I've been making my own language for a while now. It's not easy, but with my friend it's pretty fun!

I made a language called “Vovelian” and In the name, “Vovel” and “Lian” mean vowel and language respectively in English. So it's technically called “Vowel Language” in English.

i have that too! It's called Okenese, from my last name "Okken". It's a mix of Dutch and English (i speak both fluently). Þits is an foorsempel-zinšens fof þe Okeneše taayul. (This is an example sentence of the Okenese language.) The grammar is based of the dutch grammar, since that's my first language. If you know English and Dutch, it's very easy to learn!

I love how your language sounds like my native dialect, especially the “sika” part which means you in my native tongue

Oh I am creating my own Language too! It's called Tamadith,and it's inspired by Hebrew.It's written from right to left,like other Semitic language do,and the characters are blocks like Hebrew and Chinese - my native language.But it isn't exactly pronounced like Semitic languages. The few existing words are borrowed from various languages,and I will use English as the base grammar but might alter the grammar a little bit,to make a little bit difference from English. I made a conlang called Skáiléng which was derived from english and Trigedasleng (a conlang made by David J. Peterson). theres a saying in my lang - Po fli or po fél. (fly or fall)

I’ve created three languages one is called ro One is called shree and the one I’m creating right now is called quentainien all of them are inspired off of different languages. Most of them are ancient numerals, and letters.

I like making Conlangs! I made a language called Joshian (Josèiêz). It is simple and doesn’t have many grammar rules. For example, “Jai èta èl roik.” means i am the king. Maybe for you it’s not simple, but it is written as it is pronounced!

My English, good as ever. Mi Español, cómo llegar. Mo Gaeilge, Tá sé ceart go leor.

For the sounds, I'd recommend going on the IPA Wikipedia, it shows you the symbols and allows you to hear how it sounds. You should also try watching maybe a tutorial or smth to understand more about conlanging, so if you try again, it'll be easier for you

I did actually create my own language once. It was a mix of Czech, Hungarian, Polish, and Lithuanian

coming from a linguist that has made 3 conlangs, and can speak 4 languages (my English is meh), you did quite good. For a quick language, amazing. On average, it takes 1-7 years to make a language. 👍

I have made my own language (aka conlang) with its complete grammar. And my first part of it is its grammatical cases (Nominativve, Accusative, Genetive, Dative, Locative, Ablative, Instrumental and Vocative)

This inspired me to create my own language with its own alphabet

I'm currently making a language called kà-nỳl-soā and I'm having trouble with the grammar (scroll for more) So basically if i wanted to translate "I have seen a dog" I would first break it down "I (the language doesn't have 'have') to see dog" And then into the spoken version "chö-(symbol for past tense)-bō-äst-hīʃ" Which is basically three symbols, I basically turned five words into three symbols ps the language is in svo and words like have, done, before are all replaced with the past tense symbol aka : : and present tense is : . Future tense is : and predictive tense is . (Predictive tense is when someone says "I think so and so will happen").
