As a Nigerian I can tell you this is not the official language of any African countries it is just a way of speaking English, and is incredibly different. If you spoke English to someone speaking pidgin you wouldn’t understand, pidgin varies from nation to nation too, so Nigerian Pidgin is the same as pidgin in Guinea Bissau. In the countries there are languages per region like Igbo Eshan and Yuruba.

There are actually different types of Pidgins and Creoles that are mixtures of the different languages represented in that area.
