Every now and then I play music for the kids at school, and last year I had a student say to me, "You should write me a song." I told them that I didn't write songs for students because I would have everyone asking me to write one for them. It did get me thinking though that if I was to ever write one, what would I write about? Well, I got to thinking about all the students I've had over the years and what they've taught me, and I became inspired to write this song. It tells a story about how we all have our struggles, but if we stop and look at the world around us sometimes, there are others who are struggling even more.

Lyrics:
A lost and lonely, angry soul I was dragging my feet through hell
Or so I thought until I met that boy, walking along as well.
I said to him son, where is your Mom? And is your Daddy here?
He looked at me with tears in his eyes, and said I'm the only one here.
Then I cried too...
Yes I cried too...
I took his hand and I lead him home to get cleaned up with me
Then I called the state to investigate where his family might be
I got the news that his Mama died, and his Daddy'd been put away
I looked at him with tears with eyes, not knowing the words to say
Then I cried too...
Yes I cried too...
Well I knew just what I had to do, I couldn't just let him go
So I took him in, and I raised that boy. I raised him as my own.
And when he walked across that stage after many years of doubt
He looked at me with tears in his eyes as he stood up tall and proud
Then I cried too...
Yes I cried too...
I cried too...
Yes I cried too...
A lost and lonely, angry soul, I was dragging my feet through he'll
Or so I thought, til I met that boy, walking alone as well...
