I am so surprised by what we find in these geodes! At no point was it at all what I expected! Enjoy as we cut open these geodes from all around the world including Cold Mountain, Trancas, and some standard geodes.
What should I cut open next?! Let me know in the comments!
Shout out to my awesome patrons: Ancient Soul, Michael Trudell, Ellie Mayne, Lisa Sierras, Cooper Moon, Rick, Jennifer M, Kevin Kloth, Julia Shoemake, Herbert Wilson, Dwayne Smith, Karley "Bioanthro", and Paul-I truly appreciate your support!

I have zero interest in rocks and geodes, but KZfaq recommended your channel to me and I haven't stopped watching you since. Your excitement and attitude is so infectious and reminds me of the old days of youtube where everyone was just on here to have fun and share what they love. Thank you for the videos.

That's wild, the position of the cut on the last one makes it look just like a little mini cave. I could see a miniaturist doing a "Honey, I Shrunk the Spelunkers" scene inside with bitty little LED spotlights. Need the tiniest of periscopes to peer inside. They really do look like their own little worlds. I was thinking about that during the marble video not too long ago since it popped up while I was going down the wiki rabbit hole of all the different moons in the solar system. All these celestial bodies really are some mineral marbles being continuously polished. Even the exteriors of the geodes look like some of those smaller moons and asteroids floating out there. Imagine some surprises inside those too. Now you got me thinking about a floating terrarium-like hollow asteroid that has just enough of everything inside of it and just enough transparency to let some light in for a small ecosystem.

Being new to the "rock-thing" when I look up the description of a geode, I found that it must have a cavity on the inside with pretty stuff much different than the outside. I'm thinking that you can't really call it a geode until you crack it open and see what's inside. It almost seems like a scam. The ones without the pocket of fun inside are really something else??? Thank you for opening my eyes to a super neat part of what the earth gives us! Makes me want to go to my nearest home Depot and look at all the rocks in the parking lot!

A a couple of the did Nat Geos, you might experiment with trying to dissolve part of the interior with muriatic acid. I’ve seen a couple videos on it. Need to be careful with it though to protect yourself. I’m going to try on some Southern Indiana geodes I got off of Marketplace sometime. A couple were really nice even if not what you were expecting. It would be easier to cut a thin slab off of that last one with a vise and guide so you could see if you could flat polish the thin piece as well.

So geode stones that are basically solid on the inside are considered "duds" the more solid it is the more of a dud it is. For a geode that's a "nice piece" or a "good specimen" you're looking for the ones that look like cave walls covered in crystalline formations. Solid geodes though yes are pretty they are still a dud. That's the way i learned about them anyway. Other people may have other things to say about it, but it is what i was taught about them.
