The 1964 Impala, Belair, Biscayne and other 61-64 X-frame cars often have rear frame rails that are rusted, rotted or damaged in some way. Mine was no exception. So, I cut the entire back-half of my frame off, one piece at a time, fabricated new frame rails from 1/8 steel, and rebuilt/restored my frame. There were plenty of mistakes along the way, but I worked through them and got the rusted frame repair done. This video shows how I did the rear frame repair. The whole project took months of late nights, and I filmed as much of the car restoration and fabrication work as I could. In the end, it came out great, and I’m happy with the new rear frame.
