Funny how a lot of people and myself included think of this movie as one of their childhood favourites. Man the 80's and 90's were a good time.. when Aliens, Terminators, Robocops and Rambos were in every kids toy collection

Peter Weller went through dance classes with the idea to move smoothly and gracefully as Robocop. But then when he saw the suit he knew that wasn't going to work. So then he started to work with a puppeteer to learn how to move in a robotic fashion around the suit so it wouldn't look awkward on film. Props to his physical performance. He put A LOT into this role. Respect.

When Lewis was shot, I always felt that Robocop’s response if “They’ll fix you. They fix everything.” was the saddest line in the entire movie.

Its amazing how well this has aged, the only things that even remotely feel a bit off is the stop motion for the 2900 and the infamous long armed jones doll

Verhoven used a real ER team during the death of Murphy. Those were not actors. He told them to go through the normal routines they would do for someone with those injuries with the patient dying.

Considering the fact there was no CGI and that suit had to have its own air conditioning system since they filmed in Dallas during the summer, the stunt work is super impressive as is the costume design.

Ronny Cox (Jones) is one of a small handful of actors who can play both good and evil characters REALLY well. I loved to hate him in Robocop and Total Recall, and he was awesome as a "good guy" in Beverly Hills Cop. Brandon, if you've never seen Deliverance (Best Picture & Director - 1973), you should add it to your must-see list! Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty, and Ronnie Cox all turned in amazing performances.

"I'd buy that for a dollar" comes from a 1951 novella called "The Marching Morons." It would be hard to prove that it didn't also inspire the cult classic "Idiocracy" (2006).

I literally bought Robocop for a dollar (plus 7 cents tax). I found the director's cut blu-ray in a bin while working at Dollar Tree and bought it after my shift.
