Check out the helwig larger front and rear sway bars for handling. I’m not sure how much you know about these trucks, so I don’t mean to insults your intelligence. I’ve DMed you on IG. But if your truck doesn’t have hydroboost, I would highly recommend you install it, my 05 suburban came with it. Also, the GMT900 front brakes are a direct bolt in. They are 1” larger so that will increase your stoping ability, especially with a trailer on it. I opted for the bracketed PPV calipers, and duralast GT street rotors and pads all the way around. They are a metallic/carbon pad and slotted rotors. Mine ran me $330 out the door for everything. It’s a night and day difference in how well it stops. I would also recommend pulling the transfer case and installing the pump rub elimination kit from merchant automotive. This will save you from not only being stranded when pump rub strikes, and it will. Plus will save you from having to replace your transfer case when that does happen. The kit cost about $100. I am happy to talk to you off line about this condition, but you can google pump rub and find out what happens.

@@michaelminer8531 The transfer case pump rub is no joke. Backing in at the VA one morning and that's all she wrote. It had wore a hole clean thru the case and lost all the fluid. 03' Z71 Tahoe.

Good Morning Matt Just got just this week a 2003 Z71 Tahoe, white. I am an ex Sports car road racer and 2 time National champion. Have designed and built 2 of my cars from scratch. I may drop mine 2/3 to help handling and improve the look too.The rake probably helps reduce understeer as well as support heavy rear loads. I just want to reduce it a bit .I feel that spindle front drop is best , to avoid introducing angularity in the front drive universals. Lowering the height will help reduce body roll too. PO installed KYB shocks. I also will stay with original tire wheel combo. It will see snow driving. Even so I won't drive it that aggressively. Have daily driver BMW for that. Replaces a 96 Tahoe I had for 14 years. Liking your videos for obvious reasons. Located LI NY

To fix the turn signals, I have always used urethane or butyl like they use to seal windshields. It works MUCH better than silicone but isn't super friendly on the wallet. The good news is that it doesn't take much at a time so it lasts for a while. And having the T/A, you're going to need it sooner than later anyway- bite the bullet.

We have done several of the same mods to our vehicles. I posted on the previous video with LED bulbs. I also have the bilstein 4600 HD shocks on my Silverado and Yukon love them. My Silverado has the air lift 5000 air bag system in the rear. Instead of doing the 2inch shackle drop like I had done on my 2wd. My z71 truck I tow with I added the air bags to help with squat on towing and add stabilization. It increased my rake when sitting empty but when towing it sets level. I have the suspension max torsion keys for the front to level truck when not towing but I am fitting 33.5 10ply tires right now with very little rub. I just want the extra height when not towing. So my rake drop isn’t as much with air in bags and the ride is so much smoother with air back there. I love them. I’m afraid the keys are going to make it set level empty but drop rear more when towing which means I’ll either take back out or have to run more air in rear. To level it up towing. I ran my air line across spare tire frame and to mount valve I ran it to back bumper and drilled hole in rear bumper just under the spare tire up/down, door thing lol whatever it’s called. Clean no one notices it and easy to get to even with a trailer hooked up
@michaelminer8531
@michaelminer8531 5 жыл бұрын
Just a note as I’m watching this. You should try to make the air lines equal length so you have equal pressures on each side. As the suspension articulates, the pressures from theft to right are going to be different due to the different lengths of the air line going to each bag. I also would have ran the shrader valve through one of the license plate bolts for ease of access. I’ve installed these kinds of systems on 3/4 and 1 ton trucks many of times and this is what I have found to be the best way to do it. Also, I would recommend running the air line through some rubber hose, like trans cooler hose or something like that to prevent chafing or rubbing through on the frame and chassis components. Also this will help prevent it from melting when ran close to exhaust components and other systems that generate heat.
@MISTERgadget
@MISTERgadget 5 жыл бұрын
If the truck had air suspension only in the rear, that would be ideal. For a supplementary airbag system, the springs, shocks and swaybars that are all normally keeping it level side to side are still all doing their job.

I went with the timbren bump stops in my 04 Escalade ESV. My rear air ride shocks were blown, and this made the back much more planted. They replace the factory bump stops with ones that are much taller. Don't mount inside the spring. The airbags will eventually stretch and wear out around the schrader valve. The timbrens will basically last for a few decades. And by that time, I'm sure your Tahoe will be rusted through with that NY salt.

On my stock (they are replacements, the truck was in a front end collision and repaired before I got it) turn signal housings, I wet sanded then to clear them. I noticed that the lense gasket/seal to the housing had failed in some spots; the lense was pulling away from the housing. From what I understand, the heat from the lights being on and the sun destroys it. I think some clear silicone around where the lense meets the housing, new bulb gaskets, and after installing the new gaskets and putting the bulbs back in, some silicone and/or heavy water resistant grease around each socket should keep the moisture out. The blue gaskets are breathable and over time become lose and allow moisture to get in there.
@ebels3
@ebels3 4 жыл бұрын
It looks nice with the lowering springs in the back, but you could have just tightened the torsion in the front. They weaken over time causing the rake to be a bit excessive. That way, you don't lose ground clearance. I am constantly using the overhang and driving on curbs in my suburban just beacuase of the horrible steering radius.

That oil leak above the oil filter is usually the gasket for the oil cooler Linea that go to the oil pan. Sometimes, though rare, the block that holds both oil lines get a thin crack. Good luck. Love your videos LSXMatt

Its doubtful that your front diff seal is leaking. The front diff doesn’t hold much fluid so if it’s been leaking enough for you to notice it, the diff would be making some noises. It’s mostly from your trans cooler lines before you replaced them and it was dripping down. Easiest way to check would be to drain and fill the front diff. Capture the fluid that comes out and measure it. The front diff holds about 2qts. If it’s significantly less than that, then I would look in to the front diff pinion seal. Your oil on the oil pan is most likely the oil pan gasket/upper oil pan gasket. These are prone to leaking and is an extremely common issue on gen 3 and gen 4 Vortec LS engines
