6:21 The suble yet noticeable difference in between "his name was koba" and "I killed him" is great. Barely unclenching his teeth, almost hesitates to say it. You can really tell he feels shame for what he did, even tho it was necessary. What an Actor.

When I saw this film in theaters, I was not expecting to see a full scale war in the first few minutes of the film. But it was seeing and hearing Caesar talking in full sentences and with perfect eloquence, and with such a calm demeanor, knowing full well he just lost a huge amount of his forces. I would've almost expected him to lash out irrationally at the soldiers he captured.

Movies should get into the habit of showing how resilient living creatures can be to external damage. It just feels like every human took an arrow to a non vital area and died immediately whereas I think it would drive the horror of war forward even more if some of them had multiple arrows sticking out of them and still managed to function long enough to escape before perishing. Along those same lines the apes taking a single shot then instantly dying like chumps is sort of lack luster as well. Even people can take tens of shots to the body and function long enough to remain a danger, I think the scene would have benefited from a more brutal depiction of how animalistic war can be.

If you watched dawn of the planet of the apes and watch until the end of the endcredits, you would hear what sounds like apes looking around the rubble and Koba coming rising out and breathing heavily, implying that originally Koba was going to return in the third movie, possibly as a minor antagonist during the war between humans and apes, but I guess they scrapped it to leave Koba dead
