It is when it works. I found it’s sometimes hard to find openings to allow the creatures to deal damage. Haste enablers and removal are essential in Magar

@@hi-zm8oi Can’t send a list but it’s basically a bunch of 3 mana or less instant speed removal and looting spells. Protip: consider running a variety of edicts that make multiple opponents sacrifice creatures at the same time.

I’m pretty sure if Magars creatures have double strike then you have to resolve the casts one by one because of the first/double strike damage step making them trigger, then doing it again for all of them in the regular damage step.

If that Magar deck had chaos warped the sanctum of all and the klothys(a card that deliberatly messes with graveyard decks), Kevin probably would have won. Shrine decks have to be dealt with immediately or they will always win.

I just recently upgraded my Magar deck that I made when he got revealed. Took all the extra combat cards out because they don't do infinite stuff unless you run a specific one. Went more with a wheel/discard theme, and finally found myself a Tergrid, Waste Not, and Bone Miser. It's an absolute blast, though most people won't even let me turn a Faithless Looting into a creature

I pulled aside a bunch of stuff for a Magar deck a year ago and finally put it together/played with it a few days ago. It is wild fun. There's definitely a tough balancing act between making it strong enough to be able to win while not making it unfun to play against, though.

So just ignore me if it's included for colour fixing purposes, but I think that Path of Ancestry doesn't work like Micah hopes it does. Shrine is an enchantment type, not a creature type, so I'm fairly certain that none of the shrines you cast will trigger the scry as neither they nor your commander have a creature type. It's dumb, but it is how it is

Shrine is an enchantment sub-type yes. I didn't see if he was scrying or not but believe me in a 5 color deck you need all the color fixing you can get.

Someone built magar at my lgs and it’s kill on sight. He runs bonus round and worst fears and can eventually just steal everyone’s turn every turn

It's my belief that Marchesa needs to be built below an average mana value of 3.0, mine is at 2.66. otherwise everyone is playing stuff faster than you can get going.

might be a dumb question, but is Magar Commander legal? I know you can always rule0 any card in, but if I were to go to an LGS, could I just play with it without playing "mother may I?" with the random dudes there?

Yes, bc the foil oval stamp at the bottom denotes that it is commander legal. The acorn symbol cards from the same set are not.

Just think of how crazy it was back when I started and people were slapping mox down after rip shuffling them. Never saw a lotus but all those high cost cards just getting chewed up.

go-shintai is one of those miserable commanders where you sit down and either focus them or you lose to them. To many enchantment tutors to find sanctum of all and enchantments being godawful to get rid of already, then having exile be the only thing that actually gets rid of them at all with its ability is just dumb.

@@FolkenZero All decks are predictable. The aristocrats deck does aristocrats things, the artifacts deck does artifact things. The enchantress deck does... enchantress things.
