Lol it really does get dark towards the end, and I absolutely agree. One of the big reasons I played the original version is because there is a finite amount of time you have on one save, whereas AnWL and the SE have heaven mode. It really hammers home the narrative of the game.

I agree! So many HM games, and farming games in general, completely discount the family life after you get married. They just sit there and hang out. I really hope future Story of Seasons games make the family aspect more important!

If I understand correctly, Marvelous cut out the rival marriages mechanic because the Japanese audience really hated it, so I would be surprised to see it return in any remake, which really sucks.

@@JackDuckGoose Yeah, I believe the reasoning was that the Japanese audience disliked that the rival of the candidate they picked ended up forever alone, so they just cut the mechanic entirely instead of finding another workaround. I'm sad it's probably not going to come back, but I'm glad it existed in some old games that we can still replay. You won't catch me buying a remake of Animal Parade or Island of Happiness unless it's confirmed rival marriages will still be in them. I remember some games had candidates that only you could marry (Like in Island of Happiness where the opposite gender farmer to the one you picked at the beginning of the game moved onto the island after a certain amount of progress), so I feel like a potential workaround that keeps the game feeling alive without making one candidate or all candidates except for who you choose forever alone is to program a candidate in that would always marry the person who was the rival to who you chose if you married someone with a rival, but I'm not sure how much coding and programming that would take or if they'd think it worth the effort.

This game, and a lot of Japanese titles that came out in the early 2000's, are just super quirky. They include weird, almost spooky, moments like Daryl's experiment explosions, and borderline emotional abuse. But then, they include sweet moments like the bath cut scenes. Doing the final couple days on stream was necessary. The twitch chat needs their last pound of flesh for this series, and it was only right that they got to pick our death bed. I've just starting to get my teeth into Animal Parade, nothing recorded yet mind you, but I'll definitely make a video on it since it's my first time playing it.

I honestly have no clue lol. Most of the HM community tend to agree that the Bachelors in AWL are awful at best. Marlin and Rock suck and Gustafa is just there lol. Hopefully the remake makes them less blegghh

Aside from him writing you a song (which sadly isn’t one of his Idle Playing Animations/Audio after marriage, I don’t think.) The first time I played Island of Happiness I was kinda blown away with how much better the bachelors (and bachelorettes) were as those roles vs villagers than the A(n)WL crowd Which, as much as I adore Celia and Nami… in the original Celia’s entire personality leaves her after marriage, and Nami mopes around more than usual.

Correct! This version, the original, just ends. You can go back to your most recent save and play however many days are left, but it will just end in death again lol.However, in the SE and AnWL there is a "heaven mode" where you can continue farming on that save even after you die.

It moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Great question! If you're playing the original gamecube, boy version, there are a total of 10 years. 1 Year for chapters 1, 5, and 6, 2 Years for Chapters 2 and 4, and 3 Years for Chapter 3. If you're really trying to 100% the game, you can finish 90% of it by the end of Chapter 3. For me, each day averaged about 20 minutes if you're doing a lot of stuff, so if you want to play the entire game, beginning to end, it's about 100-120 hours. If you have any other questions, let me know!

Quick answer; No, you do not continue playing as your child. The game ends and you can load up your last save point or start a new game lol. However, in the SE and AnWL, there is "Heaven Mode" which allows you to keep farming on your original save even after your character dies.

I never really got into the handheld HM games outside of FoMT. Once I got into consoles, I mainly stayed on that side of the line lol

It depends if you're playing the Special Edition or the Original. In the original, all you need to do is go over to the little window on the inside at the top-left side of your barn and press A to get fodder out. You can either choose to feed your cow by hand, or put fodder in their trough. They eat twice a day, around 6 AM and 6 PM. Once you run out of fodder, you just cut down the grass that's in the field with a sickle to get more. In the original edition, the field is completely grown for you and it re grows after a couple of days. In the special edition, the field is completely bare so you need to go over to Vesta's and buy fertilizer and place it in the field. After a couple of days, you can cut it down and it'll make more food.
