Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou raged over the “fragile foundations” he said had been revealed at the club over the last 48 hours.
Large sections of the fans cheered their 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday which dented the title hopes of arch-rivals Arsenal.
Erling Haaland scored twice in the second half to send Pep Guardiola’s side one win away from a record fourth-straight English Premier League title.
The three-time defending champion will go into Sunday’s final game of the season at home against West Ham United with a two-point lead over second-placed Arsenal, who host Everton.
Norway international Haaland fired City ahead in the 51st minute at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when he converted Kevin De Bruyne’s cross from close range.
He struck his second from the penalty spot in the first minute of stoppage time after Pedro Porro had brought down Jeremy Doku.
When Spurs went 1-0 down large sections of the ground could be heard chanting “are you watching Arsenal?”
City’s win also meant Aston Villa secured fourth place and qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League ahead of Tottenham in fifth.
While Haaland’s goals were decisive, City had to rely on substitute goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, who replaced an injured Ederson on 69 minutes, to keep Spurs at bay as the home team pushed for an equaliser.
The German produced a fine save to deny Son Heung-min on the 86th minute as he raced through on goal.
With only the keeper to beat, Son looked certain to score as he fired low toward the corner - a draw would have put Arsenal in the driving seat for the title heading into Sunday’s season finale - but he could only watch as Ortega shot out a leg to deflect the ball.
